Not sure if other stores are clearing these out but Bunnings West Ipswich have them for $2. There were at least 5 still available but in the clearance area not the usual isle spot.

Isn't the 4 the only RPi with USB-C? Which is also the the first model to have a true gigabit port of it's own?
Lowcost adapter or one from your parts bin.
Also the USB C on the RPi4 is power only.
Not strictly true. The USB Type C port also supports the OTG (on the go) data protocol. You can check out the details on https://www.raspberrypi.org/forums/viewtopic.php?t=243966
Negative.
But it does work on the Nintendo Switch (uses the AX88179 chipset)
Doe anyone now if this works both ways? Ie. Internet in and internet out?
Wh.. what?
He's selling internet back to the grid?
don't give the secret away, the grid won't be able to handle all of us doing it!
Phone as a gateway providing internet to the LAN.
I wss wondering the same thing. Anyone have one that might be able to confirm?
for data to be sent and recieved you need another dongle… then you connect the ethernet cable to both ends..WHALA!
Nah mate, you want the Thunderbolt version for that…
Its 2021, It can go both ways if it chooses to.
That would be entirely dependent on the phone. Unlikely out of the box.
edit: you might be better off with one of those yellow gateways that are listed on here occasionally.
I should have provided more information in my original enquiry. So those yellow gateways that pop up on Amazon occasionally allow for internet from phone (ie 4G/5G) to WAN port of a router to provide a tethered type connection?
Some routers like Asus can tether to an Android phone via USB cable to share internet, or the WAN can be configured to connect as a Wi-Fi client.
@chyawala: That's intriguing. I wonder if my Netgear one can do it. It does have a USB plug which I assumed was for a network hard drive only.
@Lizard Spock: It's called bridge mode, been around a while…
@TogTogTogTog: Are you talking via the USB or do you mean bridge via WiFi hotspot on my phone?
@Lizard Spock: Bridge via hotspot to your router.
@Lizard Spock: Probably not with the default netgear firmware. But if you're running something like a R7000 Nighthawk you can flash ASUSWRT-MERLIN or similar, which will give you that functionality:
http://xvtx.ru/xwrt/about.htm@aldroid: Thank for that bit of info aldriod 😌
@Lizard Spock: Flashing is great for certain routers and custom setups etc. but it sounds like you'd prefer a plug and play option. Just get any newish router and you should be fine.
D-Link has a bunch here: https://router-setup.co/Dlink-how-to-connect-mobile-hotspot-…
While like an AC1700/Nighthawk or better comes to mind for Netgear:

If you have a Windows device you could potentially use this and bridge the connection so you could share the device's WiFi network connection over Ethernet.
Data is always 2-way
No it's not.
Practical example of a receive-only interface is a SPAN port (for port mirroring) - device on other end will never send data, but even if it did, it'll be dropped.
Depends on the phone, but probably not.
The drivers on the controller of these units are usually only made for Windows/Mac.iPhone has native Lightning to USB internet support for Mac and Windows.
These are managers special. Won't be available at other stores
Source?
Feel free to neg, but I have seen clearance items in more than one stores before and it was not a manager's special.
My last example was the Fiammetta charcoal BBQ, $599 down from $999, they only had the display model on clearance at my local store and I had to go to drive to Wollongong to get one in the box, same clearance price.
Perfect for the 2016 MacBook Pro
That’s what I was thinking, too. Chuck one in my briefcase for the odd time I visit an office where I can’t connect to Wi-Fi. Thanks OP!
Do you know the BUNNINGS code for this?
Didn't know bunnings stocked this kinda stuff
Does it work with Rassberry Pi? Chipset?
