Hi OP, thanks for the post. Do you know if the Dockteck 5in1 USB C Hub can really provide a power delivery output of 100watt?

    EDIT:

Actually, just read the description of the USB-C Hub and it says this:

[USB-C 100W PD]: USB-C female port supports PD 3.0 with up to 100W(20V/5A) of power (max 92W will be passed to the host), no worry about power outage.

So I assume the female USB-C port can provide up to 92w of power delivery, which is very good (if true). Most USB-C hubs can only provide up to 60 ish watt power delivery through their USB-C port and that's why I'm asking.

If it can really provide 92watt through its USB-C port, I'll buy one for sure :)

      Hello blue2609,

      Thanks for your question.

If you have an MacBook Pro 16-inch, Its wall charger's power is 96W,

The hub would take 8 Watt, because the hub also needs power to power the USB 3.0 Ports.

you would get 88W when you are using DT0008 to charge your MacBook Pro 16-inch.

If you have an MacBook Pro 13-inch, and your original wall charger's power is 61W, hub would take 8W,

your MacBook Pro 13-inch would get 53W.

      Thanks very much,

      Logan

      • Hi Logan, thanks so much for the reply mate.

Ahhh I see, hey 88watt with the apple charger is still good. I'll definitely think about it.

This one does both PD and ethernet, for the same price:

    • Hello Manic,

Ours Dockteck DT0008 supports 4K 60hz with HDR function, however the link you attached does not support that function.

      Thanks very much,

  • What fps does the hdmi output at 4K?

Dw clicked in and saw 4k/30 no good for me

    • Hi SS625,

If your laptop's type c hosts supports DisplayPort 1.4, you can get 4K 60hz.

If your laptop's type c host supports DisplayPort 1.2, you can get 4k 30HZ.

Could I get your laptop's model, and let me to check?

      Thanks very much,

      Logan

Thanks for your question. Dockteck DT0008 can support 4K 60hz with HDR function.

If you just want to hook the external display, and watch movies, 4K 30hz can also meet your requirements.

  • CAT 6 Ethernet that only supports 1Gbps? It should be capable of 10Gbps up to 55m if it is really CAT 6!

    • Hello Felixrising,

Cat 6 Ethernet also supports 10Gbps below 55 meters.

      Thanks very much,

      Logan

  • Stupid question but when saying the hub supports 4K 60Hz with DisplayPort 1.4 only, then why does the hub only have a HDMI port?

    • The dock receives a 4k 60Hz signal using DP1.4 standards via USB-C then transmits it over HDMI

This might help explain it: https://blog.startech.com/post/tech-talk-using-usb-c-and-dis…

      • Thanks for the answer.

    • Hello,

Thanks for your question. The type-c port used the DisplayPort technology. If the laptop supports DisplayPort alternate mode,

then the hub or the adapter can transfer the DisplayPort protocol to HDMI protocol, because TVs has the HDMI port, we choose the HDMI port.

      Thanks very much,

      Logan

  • Would this work with a current gen Surface Laptop? Also curious about 4k 60hz through hdmi

    • Is there a hub that will work with a current gen surface pro?

      • I'm using one at work that runs via the power port which as a result needs to be plugged in.

      • Hello Nalu,

        You can check this one.

        https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B0865VJS2K

It can also work with your Surface Pro, however you would get 4K 30hz.

        Thanks very much,

        Logan

    • Hello,

It can support Surface Pro 7.

      Thanks
