As per other Chromebook deals.
Amazon has another cheap alternative to the Duet however this is intel based.
Also available is the 11.6 version for $241.40 with Prime.

The Slim 3 says: 14" FHD
Display: 14" FHD (1920x1080) TN 220nits Anti-glare
the most important bits here. TN 220nit means this is a screen that will make you want to throw it out in a week
TN has poor contrast and viewing angles
220nit is really dim
this is essentially a "hello optometrist" kind of screen
whoever drafted specifications for this model needs to be forced to use this laptop for two years exclusively
Thanks for the feedback, shabaka. I've looked at so many budget models lately. This sounds like the s340 screen then, which looked terrible in the display room.
FHD, hmm, wondering if I was a bit hasty grabbing a Flex 5i for $420-ish the other day.
If this Slim 3 has FHD display it might have been a better value machine as an intro / trial of Chromebooks.
Darn.
I think you made a good decision.
What does the slim 3 do better then the flex 5
From what I can see -
Screen is much better on the flex 5
Cpu better
Better io
Touchscreen
360* tablet mode
Thanks parker2004au.
I overlooked the lack of touchscreen on this model.
Flex 5 was right decision. Got mine last week and was impressed by screen quality. Pretty speedy too. Have a HP laptop with older i5 CPU and Flex 5 browsing is way smoother. Have used TN panels and they are terrible so stay away.
Thanks for the reassurance, kman83
220 nit screen is very dim, using cheaper TN lcd means for the best (still dim) image, will need to be viewed from directly in front, from any other angle image will be increasingly poor/dimmer/wrong colour etc.
1.61kg may be heavy.
Good as a replacement laptop? Currently have Acer aspire e15. It's a celeron and feels slowww. Just for internet browsing some work on Microsoft office etc. If not any other recommendations?
The display itself worths an additional money to buy the Duet
Display: 11.6" HD (1366x768) TN 250nits Anti-glare
