  • All with 0 fees…..?

    • -1

Hey - certainly it’s not free, depends on your payment method what the fees are. But I know lots of people are always looking for ways to pay their ATO bill and also gain QFF, so this seemed like a good option for reasonable fees. Also allows you to double dip in the sense that you get the credit card earn rate plus thief (albeit very low) 1 point per $7 earn rate also.

and here are the Fees that you'll be charged …

Visa / Mastercard standard cards:1.2% (after company tax deduction: 0.84%)
Visa / Mastercard premium and corporate cards:1.55% (after tax deduction: 1.09%)
American Express cards:2.2% (after tax deduction: 1.54%)
Diners Club cards:2.4% (after tax deduction: 1.68%)
Bank account payments:0.65% (after tax deduction: 0.46%)

Thank you, so basically you earn nothing but paying OP?

Not sure about the tax deduction. The advice I received is that the tax deduction only applies if you use your own funds (i.e. not borrowed funds, like from a credit card).

Therefore, in order to get a tax deduction on the fee for an ATO bill paid by credit card, you would have to put your credit card into surplus (i.e. into credit) before paying ATO, which would negate any interest savings if those funds came from an interest bearing account or offset account.

      Can anyone confirm this?

      • Hi Tiger, Kevin from B2Bpay here.
As the processing fee that we (B2Bpay) charge is a business expense, this can be claimable as a tax deduction., i.e. the fee reduces your taxable profit so it reduces the net cost of the fee. You can talk to your accountant / bookkeeper for advise.
There's no need to put your card into surplus, etc.
This is the case for any bill you pay using B2Bpay, not just the ATO.

  • Who pays the ato?

    • Businesses

    • Anyone with a tax debt. Individuals and businesses.

  • This is for businesses and not for individuals?

1QFF per $3 I presume isn't worth 0.46% fee. Not sure about that tax deduction either.

  • +2

I read it as 7 points per $1….lol.

    • Yes @mini2
1 Qantas Point per $7 when you pay the ATO by card.
This is on top of the credit card points - and when you pay the ATO (and utilities, insurance, etc.) via B2Bpay, you earn full card points as opposed to the no / reduced card points when you pay them directly.

  • This seems like a scam.
Why would you pay a 3rd party and not the ATO directly?
You are trusting that this business will pay on the money, which is a big wish.

    • So you don't use PayPal?

You're not paying this company, you're using their services to pay the company of your choosing directly.
There are plenty of 3rd party organisations that provide payment solutions… EFTPOS, BPay, Paypal, Australia Post Billpay, Easy Bill Pay, Afterpay, Zip, yada yada yada.
It doesn't make this company a scam just because you're not familiar with something.

    • Hi Ben,
      Ain't no scam :-)

It's a way to buy points. Best used with AMEX platinum cards. Paying $0.022 to get 2.25 points (and bonus point per $7). Slightly better than $0.0145 per point paying direct.
So really depends on how much you value your points.
With the current climate, points are worthless. And by the time we are allowed to travel, Qantas will double the amount of points required for flights/upgrades.
