Same product as in the post here - read the comments as it may not be near 100% as claimed (especially important for those planning to use it with electronics as I am).

to balance, those claims of watered-down product seem a bit subjective to me, and even if correct would seem to be exception rather than the rule. the actual measurements supplied by others in the thread indicate the product is as claimed and not watered down. i've also used the deal product before and it was the same in nature to my observations as the stuff from my previous post. if only there was an industrial chemist or two on ozb who could test and put this to bed…

    • Good call-out on the need for caution. I've been caught-out with watered-down isopropyl alcohol before. Not from these guys, however. These days I buy only Sydney Solvents or BioStrike. Costs a little more, but you know it hasn't been watered-down.

Should be fine. I use Isocol rubbing alcohol which is only 64% to clean the TIM off CPUs and GPUs and have never had an issue

        • Yeah I dunno about people using the "good" stuff to clean things like electronics when others like metho are so much cheaper. Did plenty of TIM cleaning and motherboard with metho too in the past. I save the isoprop for anything to do with health sanitisation, say hair clippers, etc.

    • I measured rough density, using 500ml measuring cup+prescision scales(not sure if it matters with cooking jug[facepalm]), and it was around 0.74kg/l . FYI iso density is 0.786, water is 1.0.

guess it's either tolerance error and content is 100% iso, or some lighter mixture. pretty sure there is no water content in it.

the previous issue could be linked to incorrect storage and iso absorbing water from the atmosphere… so keep the lids tight!!!

Amazed how expensive this stuff is in Bunnings, $9 something for a tiny spray bottle. Rarely use it so I got one there, but was just shocked at the price. It is great for cleaning the windshield.

    • surely using this on the windshield strips away the waterproofing / beading on the windscreen? - noob question :P

Rainx is causing horrendous issues for me, so thats what I want to do. Better off without it.

Bought 2 for free shipping. I've used about 4L 3D printing in the last few months, so this is a godsend.

if youre in Sydney its cheaper at Sydney solvents when picked up.

    • Yeah, cheers, will keep them in mind. I used to go directly to chemical manufacturers/suppliers for penny prices back overseas. I wish I can find something in Melbourne.

IF anyone has a braun shaver with the self cleaning station these are a great way to refill them rather than buying replacements. ive been doing this for 4 years and im still on the first cartridge. gone through about 3 liters. fill to top with this solution then add a dash of lemon essential oil and it comes out perfect.

        Nope

Just a random thought, given how cheap how sanitiser got at some stages (relatively), if one of those distilleries that converted to producing sanitiser type products basically made say an 80% - with no extra hand sanitiser stuff like fragrances, gels, etc. etc. then I'd definitely consider buying it.
That's where (most) of my old cheap 99% isoprop has ended up going towards.

  • Do you drink this at room temperature or chilled to 18 degrees?
    Asking for a friend….

    • hehe, even half a shot of this can make you blind. not quite sure why this is used so widely as hand sanitiser in the west :)

  • Would this be OK to clean reading glasses?
