Such a shame this excludes the Totoro series

Most of these are made in Thailand these days.

    • Thailand needs support at the moment.
Most of my thailand made things are pretty decent quality.

You'd be crazy paying anywhere near RRP for dinnerware/cutlery. 50% off gets you to the normal everyday prices at Victoria's Basement/Peters of Kensington…

    • this is now a bargain site full of such crazy 'deals'

  • Had 8-person set of the Arctic White dinner set for close to 10 years now.

Made in Sri Lanka, but hasn't skipped a beat in all that time through many dishwasher cycles & frequent use in the microwave.

Bowls are more of a small pasta dish size than breakfast or noodle bowl though.

Got for about the same price as current sale, which given how well it's stood up to time is pretty good value.

Also bought the Monterosso cutlery set a couple of years ago. Solid, weighty feel that is nice in the hand. No separate round soup spoon is only downside for me. Doesn't look like their selling as a set at the moment though.

    • We have used the Colorwave set for over 10 years and it is still going strong. Tough as nails and still looks good.

  • Been eyeing the Mark Newson mugs for a while. With the 50% off, it is slightly cheaper than PoK and VB so bit the bullet. Probably didn't really need them!

  • Much better picking up a set (made in Japan) from your local op shop.

    • Yeah can't say i see a lot at my local Savers.

    • Extremely rare though.

  • Dad bought a Noritake melamine set (made in Japan) in 1974, the few items that survived our childhood are still in decent condition.
