Seems ok if your willing to wait and don't need a 5900X
In stock on March 3, 2021.
Seems ok if your willing to wait and don't need a 5900X

you'd have to be brave to line up for this now given that intel 11th gen and new 5000 series ryzen chips (eg hopefully the reasonably priced ryzen 5700) are coming in Q1 2021.
Apparently there will just be a 5700U in laptop form factor?
I’m struggling to imagine what fits in between the 5600 and 5800… wouldn’t they just drop the price of the 5800X or make a 5600XT
There's talk of 5600 to replace the 3600. Hopefully that will come at the $350 - $400 price.
That’s usually the way… they get everyone who is willing to buy a pricier part to lay down cash first.
I can’t tell if it’s a marketing strategy… or they’re wasting for low yield parts to become available to sell as a cheaper product (I know they do that with GPUs).
Probably both…
@[Deactivated]: Interesting! As enough chips reveal lower tier capability they have enough stock to fit a new tier.
The deal above is a hint of what's to come probably, they'll drop the price of the 5800X by $50 to $100 AUD, and they'll introduce a 5800XT which would clock ~200Mhz to ~300Mhz higher in single core, so they can beat/match the rumoured 11th gen Single Core performance leaks and compete with them in the 8 core 16 thread space.
yep
There are some rumors of a 5800 non x which is an 8core 65watt part. basically an updated 3700.
Heads up I just cancelled my previous amazon order from a few weeks ago… delivery date was still pending.
Granted I found the CentreCom 5900X so I’m happy, but just keep in mind this date could shift out easily ¯_(ツ)_/¯
Bad timing, mines was dispatched today from that deal, arriving Jan 16
Haha yeah I noticed because they authorised the amount on my card.. but amazon said it’s all good and it was cancelled.
I was really after the 5900X anyways
The launch of these processors has been absolutely pathetic. Getting to the point now that i might as well wait to see what Intel is offering, glad i held off buying a mobo when it was on sale.
I agree, I've been on the Ryzen train since 2017 (first with a 1700 now with a 2700) but AMD's shambolic launch is making me look very seriously at intel again. 11th gen is promising some big IPC improvements, hopefully they'll be competitive on price too (although since AMD's chips are now priced into the stratosphere, i won't hold my breath).
Based on analysis of Intel's current state, their fabs are a mess. I would take any leaks about Intel's 11th gen desktop with a grain of salt. Intel 10nm desktop was supposed to ship in 2016. It's four years later and the best they can do for their next generation is a backport of Ice Lake with some sprinkled Tiger Lake Xe light graphics on 14nm to infinity. The backport of a 10nm architecture, originally for mobile, to 14nm desktop architecture is going to be very power hungry, because it's not on it's intended fab, based on technical analysis. Hence they can't make anything larger than 8 cores, compared to the 10th gen desktop.
The YouTuber KitGuruTech provides a pretty good analysis of potential issues with 11th gen Rocketlake due to the backport.
"Leo Says 53: Ryzen 5000 Has Already Beaten Intel 11th Gen"
Not to mention that the new intel rocket lake cpu requires a thermal nuclear plant to run. They run so hot that the new kfc console can food warm chicken like an air fryer LOL.
@Chicken feed: I initially thought the Coolermaster KFConsole was a joke. Didn't realise it was real. Goes to show how much heat Intel's architecture generates that it can now keep chicken warm.
@shellshocked: Can you link the specs you saw? From what I've seen it's going to use a NUC which barely produces much heat.
@BROKENKEYBOARD: It's not a standard NUC. It's using an Intel NUC 9 Extreme Compute Element, which has an i9 9980HK. Despite being made for the mobile market, the CPU alone is still capable of consuming approximately 133W+ on average when stress tested.
approximately 133W+ on average when stress tested
That's still not very much especially when compared to GPUs.
@BROKENKEYBOARD: That huge compared to Ryzen 5800U that will be coming out soon to laptop. 15 watt rating. Even bigger than the 5900H if we compare apple for apple.
Apparently Intel isn’t quite there yet… some of their laptop parts might be showing promise but they don’t have the process yet and won’t use TSMC (they’re in house as per their vertical model)…
there’s a lot of reading etc on reddit, but that’s the summary
They've been consistently mostly in stock - which is actually very hard at a time like this. Many major retailers like PCCG have had this particular sku in stock the entire time (including now).
I suspect we will start to see discounting when Intel's 11th gen desktop lands, and more stock next year in any case.
What's the likelihood of delivery date coming forward for this?
Still a bit expensive….thinking I was lucky grabbed one 10700k at $429 that can run a stable 5.3GHz….
Power efficiency and performance per watt is poor on intel side at the moment. The new Rocket lake cpu coming out is a power hog. 250 watt on P2 state via bios setting. zen 3 is much better with 160 watt max draw with better efficiency.
Any news regarding 5950X stock?
It is in stock https://www.amazon.com.au/AMD-Ryzen-9-5950X/dp/B0815Y8J9N/
Not sure if that counts as 'in stock's. More like being scalped, it's $300 more expensive than anywhere that's selling them
Wow
Much expensive
Many fast
Very stockful
Soviet Russia in.
Check this tosser out, asking $3500 for the same CPU:

NEGOTIABLE!!!
Chinese entrepreneurs
Thanks, Amazon AU discount looks wrong, with 1250 MSRP they display the discount from $1,798.50 to $1,576.12
I think they just copied the price from somebody else selling this CPU on their platform.
its AMD why so expensive
AMD is the best nowaday
Because AMD made significant IPC improvements for the latest 5000 series compared to 3000 and Intel, so they decided to charge a bit more compared to last gen.
Also corona slowed manufacturing with lockdowns and social distancing of workers. Lockdown also meant plenty of gamers and new gamers to buy build new PCs in their plentiful spare time. Supply and demand.
It's what happens when companies take the crown.
If you're going to get a CPU delivered at the end of March (a.k.a April when you build), you might as well build a 11900k ES system with a next gen RTX or whatever later that year and get 30% or so better performance. You're already going to be using your current potato for months anyway, what's a few more?
The point of buying the latest tech is that you buy it, get it, and use it, now.
There's plenty of stock in China, if you understand Chinese, you can buy one from Taobao for $610, and the air freight shipping only costs about $15.
Seems to be back again at $643.95 at the time of this comment.
This offer is probably better for those in a rush:

March….. lol
