Acer Swift 5 14-Inch i5-1135G7/8GB/512GB SSD Laptop $1398 ($1368 after Cashback Redemption) @ Harvey Norman

60

I've been waiting for the Swift 5 with the 1035G processor to go back under $1000 and noticed the new version. Thought this was a good price for a new 11th generation Intel processor. Usually $1799 on Acer website.

One of the first few 11th gen laptops out there and meets the Intel Evo for what it's worth. Smaller and lighter than the previous one and I might end up just paying the extra. Also has a headphone jack which was lacking in the Asus Zenbook and turned me off it.

The top model is probably a better buy with double the SSD and RAM plus a better processor, for less than $500 extra after cashback.

  • 8GB 2020.. phones have more ram now lol

    • yep $1.4k for a single 8gb stick

      for 1400 I demand gtx3080 TI, 32gb ram, 4k 17 inch

      • Not sure if you're talking out of your ass or if you expect 32GB 4K with a high end graphics card on a laptop for under $1500..
In fact, is this setup even possible on a laptop? Genuinely curious.

        • I don’t think the RTX30-series have laptop variants yet. Everything else is possible (but not for $1400)

      • so an xbox? wouldnt pay more than 500 waiting for it to drop to 200 next xmas maybe combined with amazon cashback + giftcards sub100 maybe

That's really decent for a 14 inch mainstream laptop

    • I had the older model (10th Gen i5) and you can barely tell it's there when you're getting something!

  • This thing looks sexy for an Acer

  • Has anyone got recommendations for a laptop for a child starting high school next year which is light weight, have touchscreen, screen size can be 14 or 15", rest of configuration does not matter much as it will be used for studies only.

A ASUS VivoBook Flip 14, you can get it from around $1000 depending on the configuration. It's nice/slim, inexpensive, no glaring issues and seems reliable.

If you're willing to pay more there's this: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/594376 ,

Alternatively could just get a Macbook Air, obviously there's no touch screen but these new Macs are pretty nice otherwise compared to windows laptops. For a student you're probably much better off with one of these than a windows laptop, just for the battery life alone.

      • Thanks mate.
