[WA] Free Public Transport between 12am-6am on New Years Day Jan 1 2021 @ Transperth

280

Take Transperth to your New Year's Eve celebrations and say goodbye to 2020 in style - you will even get a free ride home courtesy of the WA Government.

Travel on all Transperth services, including buses, trains and ferries, will be free between 12.01am and 6am on New Year's Day to help those out celebrating to get home quickly and safely.

Trains will run right through the night and well into New Year's Day, with increased capacity and extra trains on all lines. Buses will run well into the early hours, and the ferry runs until 1am.

On New Year's Eve, buses will operate on a weekday timetable with lots of additional services on selected routes. CATs will be on the normal weekday timetable.
Train services will operate on a weekday timetable with additional services operating before and after midnight.

After midnight, trains on all lines except Thornlie will leave Perth about every 15 minutes until 3am, then at 3.30am, 4.15am, and 5.15am.

The last Thornlie Line service leaves Perth at 11.47pm.

The ferry will run on a 15 minute frequency until 11pm, then every 30 minutes until 1am.

After 6am on New Year's Day, all bus, train and ferry services will operate on a public holiday timetable.

Annoying every year they don’t do the Thornlie line.

    • that must suck. have they ever given a reason why?

      • I assume it is due being a stub line and have to have heavily timed crossovers due to one rail from the dive structure to Thornlie.

I would imagine a lot of these problems will go away after to Cockburn loop is finished (assume those trains that go to only up to Cockburn and Thornlie would then become sort of circle routed).

Half inclined to neg this post (no offence to OP) because nobody should be taking a train in Perth at this time; not enough is done to keep the trains and stations free of low-lifes, especially at night, but even during the day.

Look what happened to this poor guy

If you want to stay safe, just don't drink before driving home.
