Bosch Blue 18V Brushless 2 Piece Combo Kit with 2x 4.0ah Li-Ion Batteries $399 with Bonus 18V Blower C&C or + Delivery@ Bunnings

1050

A good value power tool kit! I got mine today combining Zip Tap $30 off over $300. But for $399, it is still an amazing deal. Separate items cost ~$800. Normally $399 price level kits have smaller battery or no bonus items.

This Bosch Blue Kit Includes:
1 x GSB 18V-60 C Brushless Hammer Drill
1 x GDX 18V-200 Brushless Impact Wrench (It is the new version with 1/4" + 1/2" bit holder, GDR does not have)
1 x GAL 18V-40 Fast Charger
2 x GBA 18V 4.0AH Lithium Ion Battery
1 x Cordless Tool Bag

Bonus 18V Blower RRP $119 via redemption. I believe it is this one.

  • How does this compare with Dewalt brushless combo 4Ah kit?

    • +2

As far as I can see its spec,
      Seems that no extra bonus
Dewalt's 170Nm impact driver VS Bosch 200Nm, the most important thing on the GDX 18V-200 is 2-in-1 1/4"+1/2" bit holder!!!

Personally, I also prefer Bosch's appearance.
Correct me if I miss any detail.

    • the bosch pro series looks nicer.

I'm not sure what the deal is with dewalt, always considered them but there don't seem to be a huge line in australia.

    • Used 2 dewalt drills at work. Worst chucks Ive ever had the misfortune of using.
One chuck unscrews itself when braking after reversing. Another one has no gripping power at all.
Besides that the drills themselves aren't bad.

Hands down the best tools you can get with exception of the way overpriced Festools.

      • Have you ever used a Festool?

There is a reason for their prices.. use one and you will find out.

  • Awesome deal, the GDX 18V-200 is a huge leap over the older 18V-EC

    • huge leap
      how?

      • It has a wrench socket so it is an impact wrench at the same time.

      • The older model is the GDX 18V-EC with a max torque of 185 Nm and a longer body compared to this newer GDX 18V-200 (rated to 200Nm). This newer shorter body model allows you to get into tighter spaces and is less of a nuisance dangling from your belt as you climb around the job site.
Edit: both GDX models are dual 1/4 hex and 1/2 square drive.

      • +4

More torque, lighter and smaller body and feels better in the hand, new diffused LED is better

The GDX 18V-EC is rated at 185nm but I think this is definitely overstated.

I'm a commercial builder and our toolkit is mainly Bosch. I think the GDX 18V-EC is probably the worst Bosch tool we have in comparison to the competition, but on that note its not like it ever failed us on any tasks but every now and then when you needed high torque/oomph it fell a bit short.

So when I say its the worst, I mean in comparison to the competition. For our daily use they are fine and I still have 3 of them kicking along.
I think generally the Bosch tools are very good, however they were always well behind the competition with their impact drivers.

No such problems with the GDX 18V-200C.

  • im not really knowledgeable on these drill kit deals but this seems pretty standard, all the reviews ive seen put makita and milwaukee counterparts for these tools quite a bit ahead.

    • Bosch blue is by far a superior quality however for the typical home handyman, those two are great value and have an impressive range.
I have only Bosch blue gear and recommend friends to go with Makita or Milwaukee.

      • been a milwaukee user for 8 years.. just moved to dewalt and recommend to people dewalt (pro range not 'just' bunnings range)… so many of my milwaukee tools need to go for repair it's painful… the new makita stuff looks good but whoa $$$

        • DeWalt batteries are expensive though, right ?

        • I've been extremely happy with my dewalt drills as well, 996 and 887 impact. Glad I sprang extra for the top of the line, spend a little more for less frustration or down time.
Use them constantly mon-fri and never missed a beat.
Couple of 6ah batteries get me through the week plus a 5ah for the impact.

very tempted but my 18v ryobi stuff just doesnt die

    • +2

Same. I’ve put my $99 one+ hammer drill through hell for the last 7 years. Refuses to give up.

    • Trust me, you can get them to die - I have a drill thats started to act up and a few others that fell by wayside (Out of 20 or so tools)

  • +1

So this is effectively the updated version of the $230 kit from back in April? Same hammer drill and the new impact wrench.

  • +2

I reckon this has been the same price since October. Bought the same kit last October and alsi received the bonus blower. This kit is pretty good!

    • Same drill, different impact driver, different batteries, different charger.

      • total tools have the cool batteries , so depends what you are looking for in the kit, better impact driver or better batteries ?

        • The Bunnings kit has 'Coolpack' batteries too, the difference with the batteries in the 2 kits is their capacity.

  • if only i didnt buy the 3amp deal back mid year. This has a 1/2 inch impact driver head good for undoing your lug nuts on the car and it also has a hole for 1/4 inch impact driver. What a smart idea

    • and i recently brought the garden blower too. Wow jump on this deal people

  • These are both great units, pretty well the top models from Bosch. Good price.

  • How does this compare to the Milwaukee M18 impact driver?

    • I got M18 and v28 kits never lets me down and all the tradies that I know would just opt for Milwaukee, I had mix of Hitachi,Bosch and Worx before but since I been introduced to Milwaukee the whole dynamics have changed, I never the struggle to drill, cut join like I used to.
I mainly use my tools on bricks and hard wood, not sure about the exact torque but I got high impact torque maybe over a 1k Mm?
Sheer force cuts the time in half

      • I thought so. Thanks for reaffirming that I've made the right choice by buying an M18 impact driver considering that I'm sort of DIY and will hardly stretch its legs so to speak. But sometimes, you bite the bullet and buy something properly. Next is the 1/2" high torque wrench, so it saves me time on using the wheel brace lol. Cheers

  • Is the Ozito deal for $99 minus one battery a better deal?

    • Depends on your budget and requirement. If you got a $300 bunnings voucher for Christmas, sure why not. I only got $50, so will be getting the Ozito deal.

  • +2

as far as i can see, it has been this price since october.

  • Do you also get the apprentice bonus (Free bag, battery, screwdriver set) for claiming the blower redemption?

    • +1

only if you have a Bunnings apprentice card. will ask you when you apply for the blower

      • Cheers mate

  • The problem is you have to invest in the Bosch ecosystem for the sake of simplicity and battery sharing.

You've cordless powered tools, brush cutter, lawn mower, blower, radio. It's better to stick with an existing ecosystem, and it gets expensive if you use mixed tools from Bosch, Makita, Dewalt etc

    • I suppose it depends how many battery products you use , and how often you use it.

A gardener would be running petrol for mowers and brush cutters, and blowers, with far more substantial outputs.

Blower and radio fall under 'nice to have' imo

  • The link to deal states 6 years warranty (with online registration). Is this standard for power tools? Seems like a good thing to call out

    • No it's not standard. Usually 5 years on some. It might need registration for the extra year IMO.

    • Bunnings AEG brand does this. 3 years on batteries.

  • I got this set back in May for $230 - https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/534533. Batteries only 3ah instead of the 4 in this deal but you get a light as well. Was half the price though…

    • +3

No, you got the 18V-EC in that kit, this one has the newer and apparently far superior 18V-200.

  • Guessing this is better than the Ozito?

Just need a drill mainly for wood to make some planter boxes.

Potentially to drill into brick in future

    • +1

Yes this is better however a few days ago Ozito had a similar combo for $99 @ Bunnings. I've purchased an Ozito drill from Bunnings a few years ago for home DIY and it's done the job well. So you won't go wrong with the cheaper Ozito IMO. Plus they give 5 year warranty.

  • +1

Ordered today, been looking for this particular combo to be on sale for a while… for comparison, this is just for the impact skin - https://www.totaltools.com.au/133381-bosch-18v-1-4inch-he-1-…
