Great launcher, I use it daily

    • +1

      Good deal?

  • +2

Incorrect link. Takes you to free version.

    • +2

      Fixed, thanks.

  • +2

I bought this on sale last year..not regretted it for a second!

  • +6

I think I paid full price for this one a couple of years back…

Still worth it! Great launcher with heaps of features, highly recommend the Prime version even at full price, but for 99 cents it's a no-brainer.

  • +5

Highly recommended. Very versatile theme, keeps getting updates regularly.

  • +9

I've been using Nova for the last 4 or so years. Whenever I use a phone without it, I'm reminded of how awesome the customisation options are in terms of improved usability and looks. It's been great.

  • +2

This has been such a good purchase for the past few years I can't even remember if I've paid full price or not.

  • +2

Nova is good but when you upgrade your phone and install on it, you don't feel of using new phone anymore….

    • That's why I always use the "start fresh" option on a new phone.

Can re-customize everything so it feels different again.

    • +7

Some people would count this as a big positive. :)

    • +4

      Exactly why I like it…
Everything is exactly the same and I know where it all is.
I'm too old for change. Too old to learn new stuff. Too old to remember.

  • +2

This has been my daily driver Launcher for many, many years, over many, many phone brands and models. It's consistent and very functional and flexible. I'd consider it a must have app.

  • +1

I'm a former Nova user, but last few phones have been stock Android, so I haven't needed a specific launcher. No doubt Nova has continued to evolve. What are the key customizations that I'm missing out on compared with stock Android on a pixel 2?

    • +4

The thing I love the most is app drawer folders.

Can de-clutter the app drawer and organise it much better than stock Android.

There are also gestures and whatnot on the home screen which can all be customized. I've set the double tap to lock the screen which is pretty convenient.

Also another big thing for me is removing the google search bar from the bottom of the screen (which I don't believe can be done on stock). Gives so much more screen space!

      • +1

I don't know if I could live without gestures anymore, I thought it was a gimmick but once I set them and got used it now I move to a phone without them and it's like stepping back in time for the fluidity of use.

        • I've turned them on just for the screenshot function, added bonus is extended screen display. Agree you get used to swipe as back, don't know if it's better but used to it now too. Assume Nova doesn't use them?

  • I've been using the free one for a while now, snapped up the prime with this deal. I installed it and it doesn't look like anything has changed. Do I have to uninstall the free version and reinstall prime? Thanks in advance!

    • +3

Nah just install Prime and it should be good to go.

There are customization features that were previously locked that should be unlocked now.

Need to have both Regular and Prime versions installed on your device.

      • +1

        Cheers man!

  • What does Prime do that the free one doesn't? Just looking through my settings and doesn't look live there's much difference.

  • +1

Nova launcher, that takes me back. Used to use that years ago then switched to Action Launcher Pro for the app sidebar. Have been using the Microsoft Launcher ever since that came out, very good launcher. Not sure it's worth paying for one these days.

  • +1

Opened the link and it says open instead of download. Must have bought this when it was on sale before.

    • I got it back when Google were doing the 10 cent apps promotion I believe.

  • +1

I've been on this launcher for years across many phones. Worth every penny at full price.

  • +1

A great launcher, overlays all that crap out there on Android phones. Its very very stable and highly customisable. Worth every cent even at full price, so absolutely worth having at this bargain price !!!!!!

  • +2

I paid full price when it first came out for the Samsung Galaxy S1. Been using it on every device since. Cannot recommend it enough.

  • +1

I have used a lot of launchers. Most of them have been really good. But, I have decided to install Nova, because the developers are still supporting this launcher after all these years.

  • Worthwhile for pixel 3 XL?
Sounds good according to the comments

    • Using it on a Pixel 3a XL at the moment, definitely recommended. Hated not having a button for the apps list.

      • Thanks, grabbed it, pretty good for$1

  • Paid 99c a few years ago and it's been great! Sesame shortcuts is also really helpful too.

  • What android phones are y'all using for this? Planning on trying it out with galaxy note.

    • Lg v20. Soon on a black shark 3 pro.

  • I understand people use this instead of Android installed on many phones but is this better than Samsung's s20 UI?

    • i used the paid Nova Prime for many years but stopped after Samsung released OneUI 2.0 because I think it is better.

  • +3

I put this on a cheap Lenovo tablet to hide their cannot-be-uninstalled bloatware and give a closer experience to a Pixel phone. For 99c I think it's worth it.

  • I just bought it to try after reading the comments. Must be very good because of so many positive comments. Also noted that this app is on $0.99 sale once a year. OZB record shows that 2015 - 2020 all had sale once a year in December just for a very short period.

  • 99cents aint much if you been filling up them google surveys.

Got a few bucks in mine which i use to buy in game stuff or apps.

  • 99 cents, use your google play credits earned from google rewards…
I bought it a few years ago and used it for a bit. Then had OnePlus 5, which has a thin launcher of its own.
Now Google 4XL and still dont use it - might go back if I went with a bloated Sammy or something in the future…

  • Microsoft launcher is free and great

  • This has to be my go to launcher. I have tried others with varying disappointments yet nova seems to tick all the boxes with customisation and efficiency.

My 2nd one of the list is TFS.

  • +1

This has been my standard launcher since 2013. Very happy.

  • +1

I have been using this launcher for over half a decade and try something new once or twice a year, always switch back same day. Nova Launcher is fantastic and I recommend it to everyone on Android.

  • My s10 started playing up post the last update. Pressing home went back to the Samsung Launcher. Multi tasking wouldn't work from the home screen.

Set it off default and on again but the same thing happens. May have to wait for an update to fix it.

    • Try restart your phone, then uninstall and reinstall the app

    • Actually, same happened on my S10 a couple times.

Would go back to Samsung launcher…

I can replicate it occasionally when pushing the home button and clearing all apps. But push home button again and it goes back to Nova Launcher. No idea why.

It's only happened occasionally just recently and not for the last week or so.

And just tried again now and nothing.

      • Yes, this. I'll try what xebozone said, see if it happens again.

  • +1

This app is so great. I would highly recommend it for 99c. It makes the UI look so nice and you customise it in many ways.

  • Great launcher and my daily, I really struggled when first moving from iOS to Android. I gave myself a week to trial all the popular launchers, this won out after discovering the
Nova Google Companion to go with it.

  • Can someone help me with this question.

I bought this app ages ago, before family sharing was introduced. Now I want to share it with the family, I'm happy to rebuy it so it's added into the family library but can't work out how to do that. I've tried to delete it from my list of apps (after uninstalling) but no luck (it doesn't actually delete it from me owning it). Does anyone know how I could do this?

I don't want to get another family member to buy it bcos I'm the only one with credits from survey

    • Purchased before 2016 cannot be share via Family Sharing. I bought mine in 2012.

I just repurchase it on my mom's account so she and everyone else part of my Family Sharing can now have it as well.

  • Copy from old phone and reset up on new phone exactly.how it is on old phone.
    Seamless transition

  • Just downloaded this again to see how it is after many years, not modern at all.

You can enable swipe up to open app drawer but it only works if you swipe on the dock at the bottom of the screen, swiping up in the center of screen doesn't open app drawer.

App drawer is not broken into sections by letters, all apps are just lumped in together.

There is no alphabet down the right hand side to quickly jump between letters, you can grab the little bar and swipe up and down to get to certain letters but if you press somewhere along the edge of screen not on the bar you can't start scrolling your app list which means you need to look carefully and find the dot on side of screen to begin scrolling.

There is no padding option or width option to make the dot on side of screen easier to grab on a phone with thin bezel in a case it's damn tricky to scroll your apps by letter.

This launcher used to be good but has been neglected for too long, sorely needs updating for use with modern large screen phones.

In addition the cold start / return to home when launcher has been cleared from ram is very slow, needs more agressive caching so that it can resume faster and then background refresh any changes.

Save your money & go download Microsoft Launcher for free.

    • May get a refund, happy enough with the Google one and guestures on.

Seems a bit old school using launchers and customising but lot of options if you're into that.
Probably worth keeping if i got a non pixel phone to get rid of bloatware, but would most likely get a pixel 5 next time.

Too many widgets and stuff would take a toll on battery life I would have thought.

I use a cover on my phone and I have no issue dragging the scroll bar. YMMV

This launcher used to be good but has been neglected for too long, sorely needs updating for use with modern large screen phones.

I use it on my Essential Phone, Mi Pad 4, my partner's Galaxy S10, my mom's Oppo A52. No one has any complaints about Nova.

In addition the cold start / return to home when launcher has been cleared from ram is very slow, needs more agressive caching so that it can resume faster and then background refresh any changes.

Some devices has more aggressive memory management. Manually disable app optimisation for Nova Launcher.

      • Cheers will play around with it over the break.
The extra screen space without the buttons down the bottom is pretty good, can be a bit hard swiping 'back' with one hand if using left hand

  • Nova Launcher is for the those who want to customize their phones to the max. For those that are beginning, I would recommend you YouTube some Nova Launcher Setup videos. Once you get the hang of it, you can go out and do your own thing.

I'd also highly recommend for those who change phones frequently. It is SO convinient to transfer all your data and have your home screen looking exactly as you left it on your old phone.

  • First thing I install on any new phone.

  • I use Evie as my launcher, but I will give Nova a try, I could always go back :p
If anyone wants to try Evie, here it is for download, it is from 2017 thou (android)

  • 100% recommend this. You never know in future when you might not have a pixel / phone with stockish launcher that you want to modify. Or even for example one of those chinese android head units - works great on those too.

  • shows up 0.99

    • Read the op.
      :)

  • Has anyone found that when they swipe right to bring up their Google feed, the page is missing the search bar? Having the same problem on Lawnchair too.

  • I noticed that gestures aren't supported, says on the app description - need to have them turned on for easy screenshots (pixel 3XL).
Grabbed the app anyway for the future
