Dredge was recently released on Android and they are offering a special launch price at 50% off. DLCs are also on sale and available through the In-game store.

DREDGE is a single-player fishing adventure with a sinister undercurrent.

Captain your fishing trawler to explore a collection of remote isles, and their surrounding depths, to see what lies below. Sell your catch to the locals and complete quests to learn more about each area’s troubled past. Outfit your boat with better equipment to trawl deep-sea trenches and navigate to far-off lands, but keep an eye on the time. You might not like what finds you in the dark…

Explore the Islands & Discover their Secrets
Starting from your new home in the remote archipelago, ‘The Marrows’, take to the water and scour the depths for curious collectables and over 125 deep sea denizens. Explore each area while completing quests and visiting neighbouring island regions – each with their own unique opportunities, inhabitants, and secrets.

Dredge the Depths
Someone wants you to dig up the past, but can you trust them and will it ever be enough?

Beware the Fog
Danger is everywhere, so watch for sharp rocks and shallow reefs, though the biggest threats of all lurk within the fog that cloaks the night-time seas…

Game Features:
- Unravel a Mystery: Captain your fishing trawler across a collection of remote islands, each with its own inhabitants to meet, wildlife to discover, and stories to unearth.
- Dredge the Depths: Scour the sea for hidden treasures and complete quests to gain access to strange new abilities
Study Your Craft: Research special equipment and upgrade your boat’s capabilities to gain access to rare fish and valuable deep-sea curios.
- Fish to Survive: Sell your discoveries to the locals to learn more about each area, and upgrade your boat to reach even more secluded locations.
- Fight the Unfathomable: Strengthen your mind and use your abilities to survive trips out on the water after dark.

$20 for a mobile phone game? I didn't realise they can cost that much these days. Is it worth it?

This was free on epic for PC just about ~3 months ago.

It's highly subjective/controversial, but personally I'd say about $8 is a fair PC price for my experience.

Unfortunately the alternative is usually either "Free, but every action will spawn 2 ads unless you pay us $5 a month to go ad-free" or "Free, but to be able to compete (against other players or the scaling CPU enemies) you will need to give us roughly $100 in microtransactions every 2 weeks"

It's a console game adapted to mobile format. I guess it's up to you where you draw the line.

Can't speak for how it runs on Android, but very addicting game on PC. Got those "just 1 more turn" vibes except it's 1 more haul of fish so I can get enough $$ to upgrade my boat and get more fish

  • I got the free one from epic.
I played it for about 4 hours. While learning what i was doing i purchased too many crab nets thinking they were given to me and it just ruined my cash reserves and was always on the back foot trying to get my cash back.

Once i stopped playing it i didn't go back for a second go. And wouldn't start again because it's quite a slow paced game.

  • Has anyone who's played Dave the Diver also given this a go? I'm wondering if I should have a crack after falling in love with DTD and having a bit of a go of the Dredge DLC it had. Just wondering if they have a similar vibe at all.

    • I haven't played Dave The Diver but my experience of Dredge was remarkably realistic in that I felt I was operating a delicate, slow-moving barge, dredging every corner of the game for something interesting… never got close to enjoying it as much as it was hyped

    • It is quite different to DTD but I enjoyed and finished both (base game). DTD is definitely better imho.

    • Similarities are quite superficial. Dredge has an element of eldritch horror (no jump scares but there are some very tense moments). It's quite a bit shorter and based around exploring around a series of islands.

      Dredge is actually indie.

I actually liked Dredge more, but dtd was more fleshed out perhaps too much so. I found dave the diver felt draggy and a bit too long. There were some mechanics that I felt seemed too much like work in dtd. Dredge felt more focused, it only did one thing but did it well. I didn't really do the whole "got to catch them all" bit with either though.

  • I've played 26 hours of dredge and I have the DLC. It's not an overly complex game, but it certainly hooked me. I just had to keep going. All in all, a very memorable game for me. I'm not sure if it works well on android and not quite sure I'd pay $20 for a smaller screen experience, and I did get the free copy from EGS, but considering how much I enjoyed it, I'd be wiling to pay for it.
