why's their pricing all over the place lmao

  • Bit more on the specifics of this model - appears to be the older Gen1 G30P. There's also a Gen2 (G30LP) of this product rolling around, seems to have upgraded DC brushless motor which can top out @ 40kmh but downgraded range (lighter) and self-healing tyres.

    (profanity) troll.

And they're not even picking up their phone. Trolls.

    • Are you talking about the broden wanna be below??

i bought 4 from jb hifi at 650 each ! wins !! for local warranty

    • Can you show reciept so i can price match please?

    • Receipt please

    • +1

i went to my local jb hifi (Canberra Centre), they flat out refuse to price match at 650.

      • Thanks, was planing on heading there lol

    • +1

i went to jbhifi Essendon, and they said they cant price match the item because its below staff price.

      • -1

        Watergardens happily price matched 650

        • Receipt proof pls?

    • Scootercity claim it’s not grey products. So local warranty as well.

Where did U get it? I tried Hoppers Crossing and the guy went to the Manager and could only do it for $780

    • -1

Nice. Gepps Cross SA won't match since it's back order and won't go below $800 (decent discount). I assume JB is the G30LP (gen 2 - all manufacturer post wk45 of 2019 according to a Reddit post)

      • +1

If the specs are quoting 40km its a Gen2, otherwise Gen1 is 64km range.

        • Ok, so JB is selling gen 1 (up to 65km on website)

        • +1

          Weird, gen 2 is worse

          • @brongz: Better in some areas, worse in others (notably battery life/range)

  • This guy is probably one of those who got the giftcard for cheap and making it sound like the store actually reduced the price to 650.

    • actually paid less than 650 … using my 15% off TCN gift card lolz

      • And how's that suppose to help other people? lolz?

  • any one have a screenshot of the cart @ $620 price?

  • +2

hw do i attached my jb hifi receipt showing $650 x 4 units i paid for ?

Upload the image to an image hosting site like for example ("https://imgbb.com/") then post the sharing link here.

      • For some reason it doesn't work in Android phones… Mine just keeps saying loading… I really want to help u guys with a screen shot of my receipt but this all is soo shhhhiiaatt

        • PM someone and email it?

    • Could you please PM me?

    • JB at Coomera flat out refused to price match as it was "below their warehouse cost." You're one lucky bastard if you're not joking around.

      • +4

JB managers are full of shit.

        • Yeah wouldn't surprise me if they were lying tbh

        • They just make up an excuse not to stick to their price guarantee, I wonder if we can get ACCC to investigate this?

  • Is it worth to buy one just for fun but not for daily use?

    • Would say it’s moreso for commuting rather than ‘fun’. Better off kick scooter and getting some exercise imo

    • +2

Yes, it's great fun for zooming along in parks and bike tracks.

  • I wonder how long back order is? Hmmm…

  • +3

    https://au.trustpilot.com/review/scootcity.com.au

This kind of seems to suggest their back order system might be a bit of a rort.

    • Look it's two people if it was 100+ I'd be worried, could just be honest lack of communication

      • Those 2 comments are a real worry.

        • +3

Yeah not a good story there but PayPal/VISA protection, so I am not too worried.

Would much rather receive the scooter than a refund though.

          • @bejahi: I'm in the market for a good scooter and was waiting for the sales. I am very tempted by this but I can't help feeling the price is too good to be true. I know I would have the PayPal protection but there is likely to be weeks of uncertainty followed by the inevitable refund - by which time I will probably miss out on a good genuine deal. Therefore resisting… so far.

            • @Grey Wolf: I bought one off gumtree last week for pretty much the same price. Impulse bought this second one (in the first wave before it went backorder) because the one I have is much more likely to be useful if I can head somewhere with my son/wife/friend.

After having ridden this one and the rental ones, the Max is an awesome scooter. Recommended if you find one in sales.

              • +2

@bejahi: Yeah the Ninebot Max has been on my radar for a bit. I have ridden a cheap e-scooter for the last year and now looking for something decent. Hope you get lucky - at least you bought when not on back order which is a reason to be hopeful. I did try to speak to them on the online chat to ask how long I would have to wait - of course they did not reply.

                • @Grey Wolf: Also tried to speak to them online twice yesterday and they didn't reply either. The chat system just sends you automated replies.

My order has been “processing” since yesterday 10am (Brisbane time). Has anybody received an order update?

    • It was Christmas Eve and they probably went home around noon (11am QLD time). Earliest possible update probably on Boxing Day.

    • It does say on Facebook orders after 22nd December will be shipped by January or something along those lines… I went through the FTC Computers hassle this time last year so hopefully this ones a little easier! I'm certainly not expecting much movement until the new year.

  • -1

    • How did you get it for 350? It has less then half the range of the ninebot max.

      • Easy… half range half price amirite

      • +1

HS had a boxing day special for the first two hours of boxing day.

        See email advertisement - https://link.harrisscarfe.com.au/u/gm.php?prm=jvcFeoL8b7_817…

        • +1

One in the email looks like a Xiaomi clone, while the ES40 on the website itself doesn’t :) Same scooter sold under a number of names such a UrbanRide, HooGao, Aovo…

      • But it's top speed is 2/3 more - 30km/hour.

        • The max can go to 32 if remove speed limiter

  • I have put through an email to scoot city trying to get them to honor the $30 discount. $5 discount is what i received, false advertising. Hopefully they come to the party.

  • +1

Anybody got a response of how long the back order will be?
Keen to order but reviews are mixed.

  • Has anyone been able to get into contact with Scootcity?

    • Nope, they haven't replied "online chat" function.

  • +1

Their Facebook reviews have the same story. Selling stock that they don’t have and many weeks pass eventually customer requests refund and then many further weeks pass. It says that you can do an in store pickup. I am going to go pay them a visit seeing they won’t answer the phone during their operating hours.

    • Great idea! Could you tell us how you go, please?

    • This posts says they arent available on 24th, 25th, 31st, 1st.
      https://www.instagram.com/p/CJLcaPplr6b/

Ad in weekends and the first response is likely tomorrow (Monday).

      • Monday is technically boxing day holiday so perhaps Tuesday :D

    • +3

It's 28 December - probably worth calming down and letting people spend a day or two with their families (like I presume you are).

If we haven't heard anything by 4/5 Jan then you can engage Karen mode again.

  • +1

I believe I was one of the first who ordered, well before it changed to a backorder, but I just got an email saying my order is backordered and will take 3 months! They offered some Mearth scooters or Ninebot e22 instead, which I don't want and didn't pay for.

They probably had none in stock or don't want to honor the price. I've asked they send my order as I was quick to order and was well before it changed to a backorder on their site.

    • how much did you pay?

      • $620, ordered just after the comment with the voucher was posted.

        • Sounds like we're all gonna get the bumsteer from this guy.

    • What happened to Studentl0an sounds identical to what was posted on Trustpilot. Surely this type of business practice should not be allowed.

    • Curious if they just emailed you out of the blue or had you made contact with them first?

  • Anybody know what the real range of these are in sport mode, or whatever the fastest mode is?
Looking at the Mearth X Pro which is similar to the E25 (https://www.mearth.com.au/product/mearth-x-pro/) the max range specified is 25km but in sport mode, it drops to 7-15km.
If the range drops by a similar amount, this would be from 18-38km.

    • +1

I commute 25km each way on a Max daily, which includes a very large hill. On a normal day I ride in on Sport mode and use approximately 50% of the battery, charge at work and use 50% to return home. I would never try to do the roundtrip without a top-up.

On very windy days (30/kph), I've used 80% of the battery going the 25km. Hills, wind, and low tire pressure can all significantly decrease the range. Also remember that range will decrease as the battery degrades over time and for longevity its best to avoid draining the battery below 20%.

      • Thanks. Really good info.

  • so what is going on? we are gonna get them 3 months later? wtf?

    • +1

It's worse than I first saw. In the email sent to me last night they say the back order won't be able to be filled

"We have received your order for Segway Ninebot Max BACKORDER. As this is a backorder, we are still waiting for stocks to arrive. Our first stocks are expected to arrive in 3 months. However, we will not be able to fulfil all orders on that batch due to the high volume of orders. We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience this has caused you."

This was in that email. Take from that what you will. I was one of the first to order well before it was a backorder.

      • I didnt get any emails.

        • You ordered after me too.

      • Haven’t received an email yet. - I suppose it’s just a matter of time.

        My order number was 360X

      • Any chance of a screenshot? I've not gotten an email bit this is making me want to get my ducks in a row for a refund :(

        • +1

I'll screenshot it later in the day if no one else has heard from them by then.

  • I got the email….jeez 3 months and then no guarantee of delivery and some suggestions re Mearth scooters. Just sent the cancellation email as per their t and c.
This deal always looked too good to be true…..what a rip
    Your Order Cancellation Rights

The deadline for canceling an Order is 30 days from the date on which You purchased the Goods.

In order to exercise Your right of cancellation, You must inform Us of your decision by means of a clear statement. You can inform us of your decision through:

       Email: [email protected]

We will reimburse You no later than 14 days from the day on which We receive Your order cancellation notice. We will use the same means of payment as You used for the Order.

  • I just submitted my cancellation request. My order number was 37xx, so if your not getting one - I'm not either! Will just wait for a JB deal. They have 14 days to return my money or I'll be opening a paypal dispute.

  • I’ve been watching this deal and was waiting til today to pull the trigger once you all started getting decent feedback about your orders.

I’d be happy to wait a couple of months, but what sounds like it could be potentially 6 months with a small disorganised business? No thanks… I guess I’ll cough up the extra $100 to get it from JB when they go to 799 again.

    Sadface

    • +1

My thoughts exactly. You have 30 days to cancel your order. After that they have your money until the scooter arrives. What’s next, 180 PayPal time limit lapses for a dispute resolution? No thanks!

Hi guys I am a newbie but thought I should post given the above comments. They (SC) are (or were a few hours ago) on chat today. Got through on chat after reading some of the comments to check the status of my order and arranged for pickup directly from their depot as I am only a 5 min drive. Picked it up brand new in box. So they do have stock, but don't know how much and why some people are getting the back order email.

    • When did you order?

      • 24th am when it was 650.

        • I'm guessing that's why. I bought on 24th at 11am and just got the email peddling the other models that are more expensive.

        • You didnt use the coupon to bring it to $620?

    • Who did you speak to on chat? Where was their depot?

      • Can't recall but it was on chat, not phone. The depot address is on the website.

        • Are you referring to the shop in Alexandria?
