ELEGOO® Mars Pro UV Photocuring LCD 3D Printer with Matrix UV LED Light Source for $US199 Delivered from an Oz warehouse after coupon is applied

Looks a good option for noobs to 3D printing like myself as it's easy to use. The resin is not included. I've not searched yet to see best deals on a suitable resin. Others more experienced with 3D Resin printing with may suggest too.

Features:

  • Higher Precision and Excellent Performance: Z axis utilize linear guideway structure, which can achieve steadier motion and greatly enhanced moving accuracy to reduce the layer lines on the 3D printed model and make the surface much smoother. The set screws of the build plate are now upgraded to larger anti-slip hexagon socket screws, which have a more stable leveling result. CNC turning CD pattern on the build plate provides a much stronger adherence, especially when printing large 3D models.
  • Refreshing and Safer Experience: Mars Pro comes with a silicone rubber seal that can be put on the cover to prevent the resin odor from leaking and keep them inside the cover. Built-in activated carbon can absorb and filter the resin odor before they are ventilated throughout the cooling fan, which gives you a refreshing and safer user experience.
  • Light and Convenient:Remodeled resin vat made of aluminum alloy is light yet sturdy. The USB port is relocated to the front for your convenience. Mars Pro uses a new user interface with a dark theme and simple design.
  • Quality Prints and Consistent Success: Matrix light source consists of 28 50Watt UV LED lights that have uniform light emission, ensuring superior printing results, a more accurate printing size, and saves your time by 25% in layer exposure time. Mars Pro is the first resin-based 3D printer to use the sliced file of .ctb format, which reduces the file size by an average of 90% compared to .cbddlp format and significantly increased the printing success rate when printing bigger models.

Good resin is important to get good results. I use an Australian made resin that's decently priced called "Monocure 3D RAPID RESIN".

Normal 3D printers are so frustrating. I'm keen to try a resin printer to see if there's less fiddling around with Cura settings.

    • +4

I've found resin printing is more complicated, time consuming and messy. Dealing with suction forces, fluid dynamics and tree supports adds another layer to wrap your head around. When it works its great though!

      • +2

        Agreed.
Not being able to see where the issue has occurred is a massive issue at times and then it could be several things so it is (or feels like) more of a guessing game.
Then it works (most of the time…)

    • +3

Resin printing is generally much more expensive and slower, support trees may ruin your model. You may also need an automated ultrasonic cleaner or a manual alcohol bath to rinse away resin, and a UV chamber to properly cure printed model.

  • Only $268 if you don't pick the insurance?

    • Thanks I missed that one. OP is updated now.

  • Great price, im tempted to dive in but the new monochrome resin printers are looking mighty fine even if they are around $650ish. Also they have 4k panels so better PPI for printing smaller detail, otherwise this is a good way to start!

    • +4

I got a sonic mini 4k from Phrozen. 10/10 would recommend.

      • yep precisely want im hoping to score a bargain on!

with the exception of immediately replacing the FEP with some NFEP and avoiding the ring print.

        • I tightened my FEP and haven't had too many issues. When I (profanity) it up eventually I'll swap to NFEP to see if its better. And yeah, (profanity) that ring print right off.

  • Good price for a resin printer.

Anyone who buys this printer please make sure you brush up on resin safety. The material used is extremely dangerous if used incorrectly.

    • what ajh said….

a guy in one of my print groups bought a resin printer, had no idea, had resin splash all over him… all was ok until he stepped out into the sun to grab some lunch, ended up in hospital shortly after with severe chemical burns, as the UV reacted with the resin.

      • That's actually a slightly better case scenario. If the resin is absorbed into the skin in the bloodstream it can cure and lead to further adverse effects.

      • Yup, do yourself a favour and buy 5L of IPA when you buy your printer. Having it on hand to clean up spills or if you get some on your fingers is practically a necessity.
