OnePlus 8 Pro (IN2020) Dual Sim 5G (12GB RAM, 256GB, Ultramarine Blue) $904 Delivered @ Digital Store via Kogan Marketplace

240

Bought this phone a couple months ago for $1,050 and no ragrets.

This is arguably the most well rounded phone from OnePlus, and although I don't particularly like the direction OnePlus as a company is heading, the XDA OnePlus (rooting) community is pretty self-sustaining.

I'd also reccomend rooting it to take full advantage of what you're paying, and don't worry, it's idiot proof and pretty forgiving when it comes to bricking (this is coming from experience).

Enjoy

  • OP, I read it on some discussion forums that after the Android 11 updates, users unable to use VoLTE and 5G in Australia regardless of what model they have i.e. Chinese or Global. They have to root to enable these functionalities. Plz see below. How is your experience? Specifically when using on Telstra/Boost network as I always use these.

    • Sorry for the late reply, wasn't aware of this until now.

Just gave it a go (took ~1hr), and got both VoWiFi and VoLTE (Boost/Telstra) working for the IN2020 (rooted) model running Android 11 no problems.

      • "rooted" is the biggest problem 😅

Great price but it's the Chinese version with Global Rom. So no band 28 on this.

Last years flagships keep dropping its price because next Gen flagships are just around the corner. If you can wait for a little longer, Xiaomi 11 will be launched on 29 December with Snapdragon 888, Samsung S21 will be released on 14 Jan with a much improved exynos 2100.

I think after these announcements, the one plus 8 pro with SD865 will drop below $800, just like the 7t pro 256gb, which can be bought at $679 earlier in October.

  • Can't wait to buy one of these 16gb ram phones in 2025 for like $250.. by then my Xiaomi Redmi Note 4X might be on it's last legs or maybe I will still be able to squeeze some life out of it for longer we shall see.

The company (One Plus) refuses to sell in Australia, in fact they used to sell but withdrew.
Why should we give our hard earned Australian $$ to a company who does not shows any respect towards Australian market?

    • +4

Wow. You've escalated to a level that this company does not respect Australian market?
Not sure why, commercial viability maybe?
It's your call to buy or not.
I grabbed the 7t Pro deal in October, no regrets so far. Impressed by the screen, wrap charging, and on average 1.5-2 day usage.

    • Why should we give our hard earned Australian $$ to a company who does not shows any respect towards Australian market?

Because they make bloody good phones.

My OnePlus 5T is still going strong, though battery might need to be replaced soon.

    • Oneplus directors:. Ah (profanity). We aren't able to sell our phones to abhayks!

  • not having volte is a deal breaker in 2021. the call setup times and data rates with 3g isnt what i can bear with after paying this much. I'd rather just buy an aussie Oppo with same processor, as they come with operator setting out of the box and also have warranty.

    • Colour OS 🤮

      • +1

Colour OS on Oppo and Realme has improved a lot. Much closer to stock Android experience with some useful overlays.

    • Thats my concern as well. Need to have VoLTE. But reading more and more about not having this on grey import phones and the pain to go through to enable after every update.

    • Which oppo?

    • Got both VoLTE/VoWiFi working with a bit of tinkering for Boost/Telstra.

OnePlus is owned by bbk electronics which is a Chinese state owned company.

    I will pass.

  • Funny thing is that 8pro does not support 65W charging unlike 8T. Only 30W.

    • +2

      But the 8t came after…

  • I have this phone. No regrets. Even without band 28 or VoLTE.

    • Found a mod that enables both VoWiFi and VoLTE (Boost/Telstra) for the IN2020 (rooted) model running Android 11

  • Whats the price on the Pixel 5 these days?

No weather sealing is a biotch on $1000 phone heh

  • Just got an email stating that the order was cancelled as the seller could not fulfill it.
