Just in time for axe wifi 6e routers
I got the ASUS RT-AX82U and had to return it after 3 days of use. The 5Ghz wireless network simply disappear and no way to bring it back.
Comment from most up-to-date firmware is "Improve system stability", so they are rushing to sell something that is not stable. I wonder
how many people actually check and realize all their devices are actually just connected to 2.4Ghz wireless.
I got the RT-AX88U on the black Friday sale and been online shortly after only to 5Ghz as I have different SSID's for each and had no issues.. perhaps the unit you got was faulty as I've had 5Ghz band drop offline with my old ISP supplied modem twice before but they replaced the modem for me in both cases so I guess it's possible the Assus unit you had might have just been faulty?
From the reviews I've read the Asus routers are generally quite reliable and work well so hopefully I don't run into the same issue you have (fingers crossed) but if I do I've got a 3-year warranty and Asus will definitely be heading from me and sure they would replace it.
It was great for 3 days, then 5Ghz simply won't work. Reset/New firmware didn't help. Avoid RT-AX82U at all cost. Luckily Amazon's return policy is superb.

I got the ASUS Dual Band Wi-Fi 6 Gaming Router, Black, RT-AX86U recently. Should I upgrade to this or is the one I have fine? Amazon AU is having extended returns till Jan 31st. Ill wait for the price to go down again.
I have this router and it has been amazing. It has a really amazing range, we keep it in our media room which is at the beginning of the house, and I still have full signal strength in my room all the way on the other side on second floor. Also I am using WiFi to game and didnt notice any lag ever since I changed to this router.
This router has lack of stock for long time. I bought one from Bing Lee in late Nov but until now it is still back orders and not confirmed the arrving time!!!!!!!
I had the same issue with BingLee, I ended up cancelling my order with them and buying it on Ebay for the same price and got it a few days later..
Having said that I do believe there is stock around but NOT at the Black Friday pricing range, unfortunately :-(
I am still thinking to keep the order if they can have the delivery by the end of the year.
