I signed up during the last time this was offered.

Overall, I found the service quite good. I used it for video conferencing (self hosted Jitsi), and had no issues (where I have in the past with network jitters).

However, as a customer, I did receive a few emails/newsletters containing a few 'Trumpisms' ('China-virus', etc) and other garbage I just wasn't interested in. In the end, I migrated to another provider.

I won't pos/neg this post, as it is up to individuals what they want to support.

    • Hi BluBoy.

It's great to hear that you found the service good. That's what we are all about. I know the email you are referring to (there was only one, not "a few") as I wrote it, and it was a special offer that we were only offering to existing customers (because we care more about existing customers than new ones, it's part of who we are).

There was a tounge in cheek reference to the Corona Virus, and it also put forward our veiw about freedom of speech and an open unrestricted internet as something all people should have. There was nothing remotely related to Trump in it, so I'm sorry you interpreted it that way or if you don't agree with freedom of speech, but glad you enjoyed the service.

      Best Wishes.
      Steve

  • How about for existing paid customers?

      Hi there,

As long as you haven't redeemed this offer in the past, then it's fine :) 1 time redemption per account.

      Cheers

  • Ubuntu 18 as the latest, seems like you're really keeping on top of things =\

This is a very good deal! Their cheapest VPS plan is $5/month so with this offer you can get one year of service for only $10.

I've been using Quantum Core since April 2019 and they're probably the best Aussie VPS host I've used. Consistently fast servers (with modern Xeon Gold 6258R processors, not old Xeon E5s), great support, just an overall awesome experience. Highly recommended.

Here's a YABS benchmark for their cheapest plan ($5/month, 1 GB RAM, 30 GB space). Disk I/O speed is very good. I just ran the benchmark on one of the VPSes I've had since April 2019. Sorry, I can't work out how to properly format it as a code block on OzBargain.

    • thanks for this comment! looks like a nice script

      • +1

It's a great script for benchmarking servers. A lot of other scripts use dd to benchmark the disk I/O speed, but fio (which YABS uses) is more indicative of real-life speeds.

  • Last deal we only had to put in $5 to get $50 credit. But $10 is still OK, IMHO.

    • +1

Yea, we raised the minimum to $10 :) An excellent deal, essentially 1 year VPS hosting for $10.
