[PC] Cyberpunk 2077 ₽1999 (~A$36.47) @ GOG (VPN Required)

7110

Great price if you're willing to do some VPN'ing to Russia. I used Hola VPN extension in Chrome and it worked a treat. You only need VPN to purchase the game and not to play. Mod: Use Hola at your own discretion.

Make sure you add the game to your existing GOG account (if you have one).

Don't forget to pick up the free registration rewards.

But thank you for supporting CDPR!

      • -3

        Oh wow, the irony…

      • Don't encourage them ffs. They are turning into Ubisoft. One Ubisoft in the world is more than enough.

    • -1

I bought it full price for xbox series x and refunded it yesterday. I wouldn't play this game even if it were free.

  • +10

Feel like an idiot with a $75 preorder at Amazon with no eta 2 days out from release.

    • +2

I'm in the same boat too

    • +10

Just cancel it, I just did

      • I'm too bloody stubborn :(

    • I received the email from Amazon saying the item may be delayed. So I cancelled it.

    • I had no ETA from Amazon as well so i just cancelled it a few minutes ago, will buy through GOG when i get home.

    • I've yet to buy any game from amazon au and have it arrive on launch day.

    • My Day One Edition is ready for pick up first thing Thurs from HN

    • +1

why? you paid $75 because you made the decision it was worth it at that time. Since then the game has not lost any content.

      • hear hear

  • +2

isnt it risky doing this on your main account? Couldnt GOG at any point decide you breached T&C's and ban you? Then again I guess the game is DRM free (as would most of GOG's library be) so might be OK?

    • +1

It's completely fine. No mention of it in the TOCs last time I checked like Steam for example.

      • Someone posted this from Steam Subscriber Agreement

"You agree that you will not use IP proxying or other methods to disguise the place of your residence, whether to circumvent geographical restrictions on game content, to purchase at pricing not applicable to your geography, or for any other purpose. If you do this, Valve may terminate your access to your Account."

        Not sure about GOG

        • -1

Well good thing that is irrelevant because this post is about buying from GOG.

          • +3

@Vool: It's relevant to the comment I replied to since they mentioned steam

    • +8

Lucky I flew to Russia and bought it and flew back.

  • +2

any other countries? nordvpn doesn't have a russian option :(

    • +5

Ukraine is close enough ($29.99USD) 41AUD

    • you could check through all the countries available to you. Maybe another eastern european country could have similar pricing.

    • +1

I have nordvpn as well, I just installed a free VPN from chrome store that has a Russian server and it worked fine.

      • sweet, did that too thanks

    • +2

NordVPN Ukraine woudn't let me use paypal, ended up using the Hola extension

    • I used Hola (as per the description) for the first time - came out at $35 AUD.

    • +1

Heads up, most "decent" VPN services have removed their RU servers due to a law that requires VPN providers to track server logs of all users in Russia (and those connecting into).

I managed to connect to LATVIA on my existing Private Internet Access VPN, and was able to get the 1999 ruble price which converts to USD at checkout (25 USD). Most other VPN's that don't do RU will likely still do LATVIA or UKRAINE, albeit UKRAINE is a little more expensive.

  • This is normal Russian price right?

Редактировать: Простите в смысле: это нормальная российская цена, правда?:

  • +2

Why is this game so anticipated?

    • +7

It's the developer's follow up to The Witcher 3, one of the most beloved games of all time.

    • +46

Developers had a good rep for making good games, Keanu Reaves, adjustable dong size

    • Cyberpunk theme, v. reminiscent of Bladerunner aesthetic

    • Same devs that made the Witcher 3, one of the best games of all time. Been in development for like 9 years or something, first teaser released all the way back in 2013 so people having been looking forward to this for a looong ass time. They've already released a lot of gameplay footage and it looks really good. And most importantly, adjustable dongs.

      • Not only that, bewbs and dong if you choose.. ¯_(ツ)_/¯

    Warning:

Do not buy this using your normal account.
The risk of a ban is real!

One of my friends kept buying games via Russian VPN and his account was suspended. And those were normal games - I would imagine that CD Projekt Red is heaps more vigilant about its flagship game.

    • +1

Well its being released DRM free so I'm not sure about how vigilant they are. This game will be pirated on day 1 from some guy who bought it on GOG. Where did your friend get banned? I imagine on Steam who outlined in their TOS that you shouldn't do that.

      • +10

No, his GOG account was suspended. Not Steam.
Your GOG accounts gets a country tag when and where you first create. So if you make one here it will be classified an Australian account.
It is easy to see if such an account then logs in with an IP address from Russia.
You definitely should make a new Russian account if you decide to go down this route.

        • Wow that is surprising considering how lenient GOG has always been. I already preordered collectors so I couldn't get this deal but this is good to know, thanks.

          • +9

@jwilthethrill: This is from their Legal:

            (i) We ask you to follow any applicable geographic or regional, language or location-based restrictions, requirements or rules regarding GOG.

            (j) We ask you not to do anything in connection with GOG that infringes any copyright, trademark, patent, trade secret, privacy, publicity, or other right of others, such as images, photographs, sound files, text files, graphics files, and any other material or information.

        • created my account using a russia vpn but the email confirmation still came in on English with a russian price so i'm not sure where i can find that my account is Russian.

          • @patc: Easiest way is to turn off VPN and then log in on a private site (no cookies). If you then see prices in Russian still it is tagged as Russian account I believe. But I would wait a while before doing that - do it when the game is available for download and then download the game to minimise any risks.

        • +1

What if you make a Russian account and buy the game as a gift to send at your main account?

          • +1

@Nedkellyinthebush: Can't gift the game at the low price.

            • @ZachBlasphemy: Seriously? Why

              • @Nedkellyinthebush: There's a message that mentions international pricing, to prevent this exact thing from happening. I won't copy the whole translated message but it doesn't work.

Can still get the game, just not through gifting.

              • @Nedkellyinthebush: These prices are there for a reason for said regions… (either piracy is high so lower price would encourage people to do the right thing or low income)

Imo you shouldn’t try to game the system with cheap hacks.

                • @kaleidoscope: this is what happens when they remove fair regional pricing….

    • +1

As long as you wait ~2 days between log ins you could say you just got back from Russia or what have you.

      • +4

Funny! Covid. Remember the travel ban internationally?

        • -1

          Не относится к российскому дипломату.

    • I've purchased the odd game like this using VPN and its fine… I'd imagine if you're a bit dull and do that for a high percentage of the games in your account you'd stand out like raging dogs balls and get banned. Otherwise if you keep a reasonable mix of normal purchases etc I've never had a problem.

      • +1

The hilarious thing is that even IF you get banned its not like theres not going to be a million GoG version torrents flying around so (profanity) it, you tried to meet them halfway ROFL

    • 'Suppose it's luck of the draw - Could be about consistency; been buying exclusive via Getflix's Russian node and PIA's Ukrainian node since pre-Witcher 3, with my account set as Russian.

      Nil issues, so far.

    • +2

      if they ban my account

      dont cry about piracy later

    • +3

      Your point?

    • +2

So it averaged a Distinction… I'd imagine that is better than most peoples average Uni grades

  • Спасибо камрад! Купил!

  • +21

I’d be wary of using Hola VPN extension. It’s a P2P service so your connection will be used by others.

Better off with a paid VPN service and 90-100% cash back.

    • my paid express VPN didn't do shit, site was still all in AUD as if nothing had change.

      • I connected to Ukraine via expressvpn. Changed my location under language and currency in GOG to Russia, currency changed to USD. Refreshed page or clicked the link again, clicked checkout and saw $29.99 USD then paid via PayPal ended up being $42.38 AUD with PayPal conversion.

      • I had the same thing with my SurfShark VPN - still in AUD, but worked using Hola.

      • I think its your browser cookies. I ended up logging out and clearing cookies completely, switching to Russia, setting my currency as USD, added game to cart, went to checkout - they then ask you to log in.. logged in, completed purchase via paypal.

      • Did u use Incognito / Private mode or clear cookies if you have previously been to the website

        • yeah that's about what did it. new rule for myself, if using a VPN, use incognito too

      • clear your cookies and use incognito mode to sign in fresh

    • i used to buy and deleted right after

    • +1

That's why you use it for a solid 10 minutes to complete the procedure and then remove it from Chrome… lol

      • And you’re still at risk for those 10 minutes.

  • +4

Stuff like this is what gets you banned from their platform

    • -3

Nope, don't think so. I have never heard of GOG banning someone for something so minor like this.

      • +3

Looking at the downvotes, does anyone know of someone who got banned for doing this?

I would like to know if people have been banned since GOG deals like this pop up from time to time and I may like to hop on one of these offers in the future.

        • -3

It isn't a deal, it's abusing another countrys market. Cd red is gracious enough to make the game more affordable in other countries. If your going to do this you might aswell pirate the game cos your not supporting in a good way in the first place

          • +7

@Saura: Lol, sorry but what a wank. Theyre a multi billion dollar company. The fawning over them for being 'gracious' is ridiculous. "Abusing another countries market" - how about Aussie consumers stop getting abused by the world by always needing to pay more, even after conversions?

"If your going to do this you might aswell pirate the game cos your not supporting in a good way in the first place" how is pirating it versus giving them a straight $36 "better"?

          • +2

@Saura: So giving some money < giving them NO money at all, got it

          • +1

@Saura: if you pay $79 from amazon JB etc

cdpr isnt getting the full cut

this way they are getting the full cut. either way its the same for them

its that or they get zero

            • +1

              @furythree:

its that or they get zero

MAN that sounds a lot like extortion.

"Either you let me buy it at less than half the price or… I just take it and you get nothing. Your choice, mate."

              • @the discombobulated panda: Trust me, the Ferrari dealer would much prefer to get $50 for a car rather than have it stoledz ;)

                • @Thrift: youre right. a limitless digital product and a limited $500k ferrari is the SAME thing

                  great analogy

              • @the discombobulated panda: its almost like as the consumer we hold the power

so many game developer/publisher apologists here

          • +1

@Saura: As someone who pre-ordered the game many months ago to show support, I understand your sentiment.

However, this is definitely a deal. No one has ever complained about using vpn on any other game in the GOG Russia store or any OzBargain deal.

CD Project Red were not "gracious" to make the game more affordable. Many games are cheaper in Russia to minimise pirating.

          • @Saura: If billionaire Vladimir Putin can buy it for that price, why shouldn't the rest of us be able to?

  • +1

Thanks it worked. Paid $38. Do you guys think it is worth it?

    • +1

From the reviews I've seen people describe a lot of bugs but did find the game enjoyable. I'm sure it'll be good once the issues are fixed.

      • Thanks, I don't know why i got negged. Not a fan boy for sure.

        • +2

Youre literally getting (for better or worse) one of the most anticipated games of all time for better than half price. Of course it's worth it

      • day 0 zero patch is 50gbs and the framerates are due to denuvo slapped on the review versions

  • Will this game run on my potatoe integrated graphics

    • +1

      for sure!
