Jetstar: Melbourne to Adelaide $41, Launceton $41, Sydney $43 One Way + More @ Beat That Flight

1570

MEGAPOST! This took a while. Jetstar lists their current deals and dates, but not all those dates have those prices, and indeed, sometimes it's even cheaper booked elsewhere.

As a result, I've taken all 97 routes currently on sale, and searched them across all the date ranges on sale, to find the cheapest dates.

If you're planning a trip in the next few months, this index should help.

Jetstar is a low cost carrier, so checked luggage not included.

NOTE I posted this 30 min ago but apparently (and understandably) the post was considered too long for ozbargain, so I've posted it on the linked URL. Example table below, and all routes can be found here: MEGAPOST: All Jetstar routes and dates currently on sale.

Yeah probably not taking any domestic flights for awhile after the fiasco over the last two days…

    • What fiasco?

      • +26

Two people from Germany allowed to travel domestically from Sydney to melb without quarantine. Got the entire domestic flight put into quarantine lolol.

You know. Because strong international border/quarantine controls not required. Worked great for Vic…

        • +5

At the same time, Gladys wants thousands of international students a week. That will help young people find jobs. LOL

            • +2

@heal: You do know slavery is illegal? All of that fruit is sent overseas. Sorry, we’re not going to be slaves for China and wealthy companies. If they need to pay like they pay the miners, then so be it. How are international students going to be fruit picking when they have to be attending their truck driving school or whatever?

              • @Emerald Owl: Where all slaves to someone aren’t we…
Monetising it gives a warm fuzzy feeling 😂😂

            • @heal: They are willing to cover travel and accommodation costs. That doesn't mean accommodation will be available nearby, and it doesn't mean you won't be paid under award wages.

Surprised you aren't down at Woolies buying 480 rolls of toilet paper.

      • +1

Got yesterday my first 4 rolls since covid start

        • Hoping you have a bidet…

          • +2

@Agret: No one posted a bidet bargain

Really that is the minor part. I have had a few flights over the past few months and more booked for jan and feb, EVERY SINGLE ONE has had schedule change after schedule change. honestly unless you really have to I would avoid flights for the time being, I have some flights booked with Qantas for Feb and they are on their 3rd schedule change now and each time they wanted me to call (where upon you wait on hold for an hour) to make alternative flight arrangements.

      • this hasnt happened to me or others i know are flying.
        strange.

        • +1

maybe I have just gotten incredibly unlucky. I actually have a notice in my email to call Qantas AGAIN for my return flights from QLD in feb, will delay calling them to see if they contact me this time as I have spent over 3 hours on hold/queue in the last month or so alone.

          • +2

@gromit: Has happened to me as well. Over 8 changes/cancellations in a 3 month span. To be expected but frustrating

    • +6

Can we not call EVERYTHING a fiasco? I'm not saying that an error wasn't made, but the Australian media make their crust by over-hyping every situation.
USA has had 281K deaths, UK 61K, Canada 12K, Germany 18K, South Africa 22K, France 54K, Italy 60K, Spain 46K. Even accounting for population, we've done well (we've had less than 1K). It turns out that the media are incentivised by making things sound worse than it is. There's no money to be made if they say "oh, things are going relatively well, carry on about your day).

Despite the above, all I hear is constant talk of fiascos and disasters. I even heard people in South Australia whinging when their lockdown got cancelled.

        Oh that was a debacle.

        • -1

Was it though? I mean, they went a bit early but you kind of need to do that to contain it early. In the end, it was a lockdown for 2 days (I've done a 2 day lockdown voluntarily out of sheer laziness). And I mean, it was South Australia anyway, nothing happens there, so what did they miss?

            A total catastrophe then.

I don't think you understand the literal definition of the word catastrophe, my friend.

How dare you? Have you not seen our new giant pigeon on Rundle Mall?

Ha ha! I have not heard this one before. A very funny joke.

      • +1

        Unprecedented.

      • but drama

  • +10

    its mesmerising…the table

    • +2

I always appreciate a good table

  • +3

Cheap prices but I ain't going some place just to quarantine for two weeks in some small hotel.

  • +1

I searched recently and the prices are quoted by various other travel agencies which have very dodgy reviews so I am not sure how safe and reliable these bookings will be

    • +2

Just bear in mind that people tend to review those when things go wrong, more often than when things go right. I've used many of them personally (trip, kiwi etc) and never had an issue. Of course, that doesn't mean I won't one day.

  • +7

So weird seeing IWTF deals again. 10 months in limbo… good to see you again.

    • +6

Different company ;) But thanks! Borders opening sure helps.

      • +7

        Oh. Lol.

        Close enough. Welcome back anyhoo

  • Will a 2 week hotel quarantine (at your own expense) be required after travelling to these places or anywhere domestically?

    • No

    • +1

Unless there is another Vic style Govt induced outbreak, NSW won't shut its borders.

As for other states, it is pot luck what will happen in the future, but at least you will know before you set off on your journey.

      • -4

        Vic style Govt induced outbreak

        You mean worker induced outbreak?

        • +4

Last I checked the Vic Govt was solely responsible for those hotels, despite their apparent 'lack of memory' after the event.

If the Govt didn't want to tell Vic Pol that they were managing the hotels whether or not they liked it, then that is on the Govt when the private security bungled it.

          • +2

@stewy: Why was the Labor government outsourcing/privatising anyway? I thought they were against that.

            • +1

@Emerald Owl: Outsourced to one of their labour/union mates iirc

              • +1

@SJDR: Ahh. We have to be the only country in the world that brings in people on temporary and student visas to be ‘security’.

  • +2

    Jetstar in title please.

    • +1

      ah sorry, done!

  • +2

Good luck getting back.. or even your own luggage.

  • +2

+vote for the effort with the table

    • I can't see it even when zoomed completely out. But this is probably an ozbargain website problem.

      • yes, it's frustrating, in preview mode it renders perfectly :/ But you can click through to our site to see the whole thing

  • -2

I'll stay in my own state, thanks though

    • Best to not leave your bedroom, give it another 6 months just to be 100% sure

      • +1

Plenty to see and do and small towns and businesses to support without the need to get on a plane

  • Be sure to shop around if you want check-in luggage. I booked some flights last night and Jetstar have dramatically increased their checkin luggage price to $55 each way and I'm a member lol

Got cheaper flights with checked baggage through virgin in my case.

  • What happens if I book a flight but then border situations change? What happens if I have to hotel quarantine for the duration of the planned holiday? Or can't take a return flight home due to border closure whilst at the destination?

Do I just need to say I'm a German tourist and they'll let me go straight through?
