Get 10% Cashback Every Saturday in December (Max $30 Back Per Transaction) Using Tap & Pay @ Zip

8761

There seems to be a lot of confusion based on the comments so let me try and clarify how this works:

  1. Sign up to Zip Pay. Not Zip Money. You can use the 'Related Offers' at the bottom of this description for new signup options. Note that you must provide your email address or phone number if you want a referral, there’s no referral link and you can’t be referred without that info!
  2. Download the Apple or Android app and sign in with your details. You will need a smartphone with NFC.
  3. Go to the "Cards" tab within the Zip app. Click on Add to Apple Wallet (or Google Wallet if using android).
  4. Go to any store that accepts tap & go on credit/debit cards. Do not ask if they accept Zip Payment as this is a separate payment method.
  5. Purchase anything (any gift cards, services, goods, literally anything) and checkout with Apple Pay or Google Pay by tapping your digital Zip card on Saturday. Do not spend more than $300 in one transaction if you want to maximise your benefit as you won't get 10% back above $300!
  6. You should see the rewards balance reflected under "Rewards" within the "Your Zip" tab of the app immediately.
  7. Once you have reached $30 in credit, click on the redeem button to apply the credit to your account.
  8. Pay off your Zip account by linking a credit card to earn points and defer payment (The screen says debit card but many have confirmed credit cards to work as well - Amex will not work). It takes 3 days for processing payments to finalise and you cannot make additional payments sooner than that.
Things to note:
  • Applying for a Zip account will trigger a credit check.
  • Redeemable once you've reached $30 in credit (I.e. Min spend $300)
  • Rewards balance will continue accruing even if you don't redeem $30.
  • There's no daily limit. The only limit is your credit limit.
  • Apple Pay and Google Pay don't have a $100 tap and pay limit like normal cards. The limit is unlimited since you biometrically authenticate yourself at the time of payment.
  • You cannot prepay your zip account via BPAY so that it goes into credit. I contacted Zip and they informed me that since they’re not a bank they’re not allowed to hold deposits. If you prepay your account you will be breaching their T&Cs and your account may get blocked. It will take a few days to unblock. Do so at your own risk, some have reported success while others have confirmed they got blocked.
  • You cannot make payments online.
  • Max $30 back per transaction.
  • Excludes Westfield gift cards purchased from Westfield
  • On days other than Saturday, you can still earn 3% or 5% cash back that will accrue towards your rewards balance.
  • Within a twenty-four (24) hour period, you (a) are limited to redeeming your Reward Goal eight (8) times, and (b) will not earn any further credit back if you spend $4,000 or more.
  • 10% back on Super Saturdays will override all other cashback offers with lower % back.
  • By end of 8 January 2021, any credit back that has not reached the Reward Goal will be cancelled.

              • @ely: Ok as its on here and only seen it on here i check see if anything on the app.

I would like to ask how does zip get paid when its due, have you to pay whatever by a date or does it come off automatically and how do i know where it comes off from.
I can't remember setting up a card to pay back but when i did join for first time i used paypal as id or to join? Or is this something you do after select methods of payment and when later?

              • @ely: Its ok i do have a payment set up with zip just looked, but using tap and pay with gpay and using my zip card on it nothing is taken upfront?

                • @bwatt72: You can pay it with a credit card, a debit card, or bpay, I believe - I use a credit card. For these very generic questions you're probably best served by looking at Zip's docs.

          • @ely: I signed up for the $15 for $50 spend sign up and thought i try this $10 first purchase and as i not used zip, gpay etc and plan to go to store soon to do this before going.
But i see no sign up for it or something to say you can.

  • Trying to refer the missus… but can’t see where you send the invite. Can anyone see where it is? Had a look in the app and website… but can’t see it.

Top up your Opal at woolies and coles guys!

  • Prezee will be making a killing today, all these Prezee gift cards where we're parking money & they get to hold on to it.

    • Prezzee be like:

      ‘It’s free real estate.’

    • Can you avail 10% cashback at prezee and how? I though only tap n pay in store only.

      • Paying with Apple Pay on iOS works & gets 10% cashback.

    • Someone here said Google Pay for online usage was also accessible but only one confirmation.

Could anyone else confirm? Would like to use prezzee.

      • Google Pay only shows the Zip card if it's inside a dedicated app (not a website). I've never used Prezzee so don't know about that specific use case, but have successfully got cashback for KFC and even Airbnb.

    Third Saturday for me. Success.

Went to aus post to buy 3x$500 Gift Card - one card, countless possibilities. Use wherever Mastercard is accepted.
    $5.95 card purchase fee.

2x$50 Amazon gift card and $32.15 coles myer gift card.

    $1,650 spent in total.

    • How did you pay for the Auspost prepaid Mastercard with Zip? Last time I tried it only accept Eftpos payment not credit card so I couldn't pay with Tap and Zip

      • Google Pay. Split payments.

        • I did that but it didn't work, asking to insert the card which means it only accept Eftpos payment. I may try again tmr.

          • @samehada: Another possibility is the terminal. I can't get google pay to work on kmart's or chemist warehouse's terminals.

          • +1

@samehada: Asking to insert doesn't mean it doesn't support credit card.

            • @PissLUR: That is what happened with billers that only accept EFTPOS payment at Auspost. I will try again tmr.

      • With the split payment, that means at least 6 taps plus a few seconds to claim $30 cashback ? Wow you have a very patience staff there.

        • Yes. That's correct. After the 2nd card's transaction, I disappeared for a while to redeem the credits to make sure I have enough for the 3rd transaction.

          • @PissLUR: We had such a long queue in our local Post Office - I did not even attempt to do one split transaction (for my rego payment)

            • +1

@bajirao: My post office was very helpful with split transactions.

I stood aside for a while if others were waiting.

      • I have never seen so much guesswork in one thread as in this one.

The reloadable Mastercard cannot be paid for by Mastercard / Visa (eftpos and cash only).

The Mastercard gift card can be paid for by Mastercard / Visa.

    • Which gift card did you buy at Auspost? The loadable up to $500 mastercard gift card?

      • Yes. That's the one. There is aus post logo on the package.

        • should be the Black one right? $5.95 fee, maybe I should try with another post office next time.
          https://auspost.com.au/money-insurance/buy-gift-cards/auspos…

        • +1

Australia Post sells a gift card Mastercard and a reloadable Mastercard.

It isn't possible to purchase the reloadable Mastercard using Visa or Mastercard.

          • @YesPleaseThankYou: I bought this black one last week and couldn't pay with Zip, only accept Eftpos payment.

          • @YesPleaseThankYou: I just tried it again and it works, not sure what the staff did the first time I tried and it didn't work. This time I asked them to pay using Visa card. Too bad you can't get this card this Saturday because it is Boxing Day and all PO close.

    • You'll struggle to find places that accept that mastercard

      • Are you kidding? Which place doesn't accept credit card payment?

        • Haha… you will find out like I did.

        • +1

i wanted to buy one but reading the horror stories I did not want to take chance. Do share if it works properly at ALL stores - online and B&M then maybe next Saturday i might consider getting one.

          • @bajirao: have you ever bought the coles' version? its the same gift card.

            • @PissLUR: Yes I have and never had probems with the Coles MC - either online or B&M stores. If it's the same kind then I am surprised why so many people are reporting issues!

              • @bajirao: the thing is that i will only start using this gift card next year. there is still 3% off promotion to take advantage of.

                • @PissLUR: I won't use 3% cashback any more. Enjoy the best that you already had. Maybe Afterpay or others catch up Zip in this Tap & Pay or Zip rolls out 5% off cashback on certain days later.

Remember when people stocked up 5% off Wish eGCs before the cutoff. It was a joke now.

                  • +1

@Neoika: Ok. Have been using the gift card all morning and afternoon. Small shops that accepts mastercard/visa. Zero issue.
For purchases less than $10/20, you don't have to enter the pin.

    • Do you have a $1500 credit limit or did you top up your account by $500 instant payment?

      • $1,500 limit.

  • Have tried to use zip pay at the post office to pay bills etc, doesn't seem to work…did spend $900 today though, so I should be getting $90 credit to spend wherever I like? Or against the existing balance? Thanks.

    • +1

$90 credit to spend. Use it today and get another $9 credit.

      • thanks!

        • Make sure to redeem the credit from the app.

    • +1

The biller decides whether to accept credit card payment at the post office.

Your alternative was to buy an eftpos gift card, then use that to pay those bills at the post office.

      • The above is precisely what I'll be doing to pay things like strata levies.

  • Also, can I have 2 zip cards on my iphone? It doesnt seem to recognise the payment from my partner's.

    • +1

Set the card you want to use to default on wallet app

  • where can i find the referral link i can send to people?

    • +1

It's targeted. If you can't find it on the app, then you can't refer.

    • Referral is a pain the ass anyway. You need their number or email.

    • I rang CSR and they said you have to wait up to one or two weeks after registration.

      • Yeah right ! I have been with Zip for months and still no referral link for my account.

        • Settings tab in the app
          Should have invite friend opton

        • I was able to refer the day after signing up.

      • I now have access to invite or referral webpage. I've had it for a day to many hours ago.

Bought Apple Store Gift Cards (not the same as iTunes gift cards, Apple Store Gift Cards can be used in Apple stores or online to buy Apple products) successfully via the Apple Store app using Apple Pay and got 10% cash back instantly. Gift cards took about 15-30 mins to arrive by email from Apple but used them today with no problems. Just note according to the Apple website there’s a maximum limit of 8 gift cards that can be used in a transaction! Thought this would be good for anyone who’s looking to buy Apple stuff that never/rarely go on sale :)

  • Anyone know if this works with Airbnb? You can pay with google pay there

Unfortunately didn't see this yesterday but Airbnb worked for me.

Check your reward list carefully. Not all my purchases resulted in a reward transaction being generated.

    • Yeah I'm confused why not. I only got one reward transaction generated and the other not.

Anyone else having this problem? And why?

      • +2

It is apparent that Zip Pay needs to be watched very carefully.

I would suggest that Zip Pay runs a query to ensure that every transaction has received the appropriate promotional credit. Where a credit has not been applied by Zip Pay, it should immediately do so.

I will have no hesitation in making a detailed complaint to ASIC, ACCC, and/or AFCA about any misleading conduct in relation to this or any other promotion.

(ASIC handles the financial services licence, ACCC handles misleading conduct, and AFCA will handle individual complaints in relation to financial services.)

I note that the conditions of this offer displayed by Zip Pay within the app are different to those displayed on the web. The page displayed within the app has exclusions which may be used to exclude some of the cash back claims made by participants within this thread. Those terms do not appear here https://zip.co/promotion/super-saturdays

        • These are the terms that appear within the app, but not on the web:

Should any transaction be cancelled, refunded, or varied in any manner the applicable credit back will be adjusted in accordance with the cancellation, refund, or variation. If at any time Zip reasonably believes that you are engaging in this promotion through fraudulent, deceptive, or dishonest actions or means, or you violate these or your Zip Pay terms and conditions, we reserve the right to block the release of any Reward Goals, deduct any Reward Goals from your Zip Account, or cancel or block your participation in the promotion.

    • I'm on the same boat today

Last weekend, no issues at all

However, this week it acknowledges the rewards but I have no way to redeem them

      • I'm seeing a redemption error now. Are you?

        • It seemed to work for me now.

I just had to fully close the app and reopen it.

          • @BarginGrabber: I did that many times, but it still gives me "failed to redeem" error.

        • I’m having a redemption error too. How many times have you redeemed today?

        • I think the issue still needs to be raised. Seems like some people are also experiencing this issue.

          • +1

@PeeDee: I’ve raised this with them and am waiting to hear back. Disappointing experience with Zip platform and customer service so far. Turning out to be a huge hassle more than anything.

            • @joyfulpatrick: Have your issues been resolved? I've contacted them but they do not seem to get it.

              • @PeeDee: I was told that it’s a max of 6 redemptions per day and I managed to redeem them last Sunday.
Looks like it’s a max of 8 redemptions per day based on the latest terms and conditions.

                • @joyfulpatrick: They haven't fixed my issue yet I probably need to call them to clarify

        • The redemption error was fixed on the following day.

Zip seems to have a lot of processing errors.

    • I have to restart my zip app and it shows.

      • How do you restart an app?

        • On Android, open the recent apps list and swipe it to the right. Or you can try to force stop on the app settings.

      • Restarting my app did not assist me. It was a problem on Zip Co's end.

    • Update: the missing rewards transactions appeared in my account under yesterday's date.

Make sure you reconcile purchases > rewards > redemptions, particularly if you have many transactions.

    • Hi, what exactly did you say to them? I don't know if they are understanding. I still have only one redemption out of the two and have been emailing back and forth but it's getting nowhere.

  • What's the $7.95 purchase fee on activation you refer to? Can't find it mentioned anywhere else

  • +1

Happy to report that 3x$300 prezee swap cards worked fine first time.

    • Prezee is a smart idea, didn't think about that.

Where can you get them? Coles?

      • Not my idea, from others here, but you can install the app on iOS and pay for the cards using Apple Pay and the bonus will be credited the same as in store tap and pay transactions.

  • Had the zip pay digital card in Google pay and tried to pay for some bunnings gift cards worth $300 at Coles but the card reader wasnt reading it (error message ) although trying different card readers . Anyone encounter this issue before ?

    • Presuming that NFC was on did you try it with the GPay App open?

You should see your virtual Zip card on there and once it goes through successfully there's an animation where you'll see it being ticked.

      • Yes it's on definitely

  • -1

Anyway for late comers with lower limits to spend $600 best play at Woolies is 2 X $50 Netflix cards (Only decent 19%er going today with rewards 2000pts ) and $492.05 + $7.95 fee Perfect Gift Card Eftpos . Of course split payment into 2 X $300 .
