@jv: Or just post it on youtube, wait for it to go viral and appear in a tv news segment and have the swat team arrive at your house

            • @jv: As if they will do anything. So you are saying I'd you send them dashcam footage of someone running a red, they will fine them?

              Nah

So you are saying I'd you send them dashcam footage of someone running a red, they will fine them?

                They don't have a choice.

                • @jv: In that case, i have a LOT of deepfake videos to make; brb.

Does anyone know what the rider weight limit is?

  • So is there any state in Australia where this is legal outside private properties?

    • +1

      QLD

    • +11

      ACT, Qld

      • -3

        ACT isn't a state. 🧐

        • +3

State or territory, same thing. It still has its own jurisdiction similar to state.

    • I knew it sucks to live in SA. Thanks, everyone.

      • +1

That's strange because SA was so close to having them. I remember renting those Lime scooters when I was in Adelaide CBD. Super fun, but I heard it's not there anymore?

        • I used to see them everywhere, but not sure if they're still around. And that's a good point you've pointed out there. I don't know why they ban these scooters while they allow those commercial ones to be used. Kinda contradictory, if safety was the concern.

Says trial at north adl was till 31/10/20 but I still see some in the cbd every now and then

  • +1

Have the original pro and it's a great little scoot. Made a few mods like most do, custom firmware, extra bar with phone mount, mirror to see behind and some handlebar extenders (quite natrrow when stock) with new grips. Really quite pleasing to ride if the path is smooth.

  • +1

I see so many people riding these without a helmet and on footpath when there's aplenty of people walking. If you're going to ride it, at least do it safely knowing it isn't exactly legal. You get enough accidents and the fun and games are all over.

    • +7

we'll get that one guy who'll fk it up for the rest of us

  • can we modify it to make it faster?

    • +6

      so it'll be you…

    • +2

Yes, flashing the firmware. I'm not sure if this one can be though so you'll have to do some research there.

    • +2

can we modify it to make it faster?

Press Shift-F8 when it is booting up…

      • +2

        Getting blue screen now 🤷‍♂️

just bought one. paid $664.05 with 5% off gift cards. Had to buy 2 as max is $500 per card. Pickup in about an hour after work :)

    • Better hope you don't have to return it for a refund and stuck with $664 in giftcards

  • I always want to buy one of those as my workplace is only 3.8 km away from home. Still thinking. …

    • +2

if your workplace is just 3.8km, let me push you over the edge- get it!!!

i have the m365 version, i love it!

      • do you rekon it's a good price? i do have enough 15% off gift card ,and seems my local store had it instock. i do not know much about escooter, just did some price search, seems like if it can go sub 600, won't be a too bad deal. how long will those tyre last?

        • I do.. well i mean its not mind blowing price but stacking with the discounted gift cards make it work. - especially since you have the 15% gift card!

heck, i'm thinking of getting it myself and upgrading from the m365 for the better braking mostly.

I've never had to replace my tyres yet, beats me.

          • @lawyerz: that sounds promising. you did push me a little futher. so the helmet is the only safety stuff i have to ware right? i have to consider the hot summer in qld as well

            • @ce5himm: pretty much. just ride responsibly, that's pretty much it.

Also doesn't really have a way to carry cargo, thats the downside i guess

              • @lawyerz: i do not need to carry anything. everything fits in my pocket.

                • +1

@ce5himm: damn i bit the bullet and bought it. heart's racing lol. hope no buyers remorse haha.

            • +1

              @ce5himm:

the only safety stuff i have to ware right?

              Did you mean where ?

    • Well I can see it says you're in the Gold Coast so it's legal for you. If you're not a (profanity) and wear safety equipment, you'll be fine. It's heaps of fun and really opens up your options for exploring places.

    • -1

Just get a bike.. $50 on gumtree

    • how about a $50 adult sized aldi scooter or a bike. do some exercise.

  • +2

why cant they make it legal? i dont think the speed exceeds a bicycle right?! and its lighter in weight too..

    • "14.2 kg"

That's not lighter than a bicycle. But yes, it's slower.

      • +3

my ebike weighs 25kg lol. 14kg is not an unreasonable weight for some beach cruiser or cheaper bikes. My typical aluminum bike is what.. 11kg? 12kg?

i mean, the bulk of the weight is the rider in this case, its not cars.

as to why cant they make it legal - mostly nanny state/country reasons. You don't see people using these in europe dying and dropping like flies. Sure they are accidents or crashes here and there, but its far safer than driving.

Driving and car-related deaths > 1000 deaths every single year (1,195 in 2019), more than covid (908 so far), yet we just shrug and say meh because its been normalised.

    • +3

Cos our state government is backward and nanny police. They talk about global warming and doing things to help the environment, less traffic of roads blah blah but cant legalise a motorised scooter that will actually do just that cos they scared some doofas will ride one like a donk and knock over an old lady one day.. yet there are people that have beefed up e-pushbikes that can travel 60 or 70 Km/h and yet totally legal. Its sad@

    • +1

Tax… governments LOVE to tax your powered movement and inebriation… and if you do both together they absoletely adore fining you.

      • -2

Simple solution is make people that want to ride them register and incl. component for TAC insurance in case one causes injury. Would make the Govt. a mint

    • While I think they should make it legal, I think it's a lot more dangerous trying to do an emergency stop on a scooter than on a bicycle.

  • Illegal in SA too :'(

  • is there a easy way to lock/chain it outside the mall?

    • a D lock through the backwheel is what i normally do. I always lock mine up at the station

      • nice. thx

    • +1

Yeah.. get a bike lock and loop it through the rear wheel disk.

      • 👍

  • +1

Can we bipass the speed limiter? Any linksnfor this model?

    • please don't :(

      • Just sue them if they do!

    • +2

      https://pro2.cfw.sh/#

If you haven't already, read up on it, it's a reasonably involved process and kiss your warranty goodbye.

Having said that, I bought the original Pro knowing full well I'd do it, and it's worked out amazing so far (1500kms on odo). Rode it about 20 metres before going yeah nah this needs to be unlocked. Now it does 30-34kph on a flat depending on where you are for battery charge, and pulls harder (peaks around 860w), not to mention customising the regen brake, speed at which the throttle engages etc.

Bloody good little scooters, remarkably stout.

  • Thinking about getting one.

    For an old guy:-
How easy is a scooter to ride versus an eBike?

    • +1

      it's pretty easy.

I've seen a 60-70yo lady ride it once, much to my shock and pleasant surprise haha.

Source: have both ebike and m365 scooter.

    • You ever ridden a skateboard? How confident are you at balancing on one foot? You'll definitely need some good hand-eye coordination if you want to stay safe. A stack on one of these could mean a broken wrist or worse.

      • +4

this is much easier than a skateboard, because of the handle. I wanted an e-skateboard, but i cant balance on one if my life depended on it.

Meanwhile, my highly risk averse mom can handle this with ease and comfort.

    • +1

IMO, scooters are much easier to ride and possibly easier to balance because they are low to the ground. But you feel a lot more bumps and jitters on a scooter, and I find it easier to right one-handed with a bike if you need to (if i take one hand off my scooter I feel very unstable). With that said, your experience might be different to mine.

  • +1

Is the weight limit 100kg on this like the previous model?

  • +5

Really hoping these are made legal in Vic one day. Would love to buy one, but alas

  • seems to be legal in ACT. lol

    • They are. Sometimes you can find those rented ones dumped into lake burley griffen.

    • -2

So is growing your own Pot and smoking bongs … To bad no one lives there..

  • +2

Hopefully Anna slams the border shut again, we can’t have Victorians here with their nice new scooters, it will be bedlam. (/joke)

    Thanks op
