ShopBack is only 1%? It was 10% when this was last on, making it $920.

  • Isnt the RX 6800 XT better than the 3080 in a lot of benchmarks (not all) and cheaper too than both the 3070 and 3080?

    • can't find any stock~!!! 6800xt 3080

is that possible get them on retail price this year ??????????????

    • +3

Yes, good luck getting it though.

    • +1

If ray tracing and DLSS are important to you, then 3070 or 3080 would be the better choice, right, for e.g. if you're keen for Cyberpunk 2077?

I'm pretty stuck deciding between the two myself

    • +7

Nope, AMD bait-and-switched, the $949 is just a paper MSRP, no actual 6800 XT's will sell for $949 AUD. All of the board partner cards are currently even more expensive than the 3080.

      • -2

they are coming. it might just be a while. AMD have said the AIB will have to produce cards at MSRP within the next 8 to 12 weeks. If they are in stock that is.

You can blame Sony and Microsoft. They offered bonuses to get more chips of AMD. they currently have 70% of the 7nm chips. with Zen 3 and RDNA 2 left with only 30%.

        • AIB cards will not be MSRP

No they're not - "AMD have said" is hardly a credible source. AMD also said that they wouldn't have supply issues…

What do mean by "blame Sony and Microsoft"? I'm not saying that anybody is at fault, I'm just stating a fact - that you're not going to be able to buy 6800 XT's for $949. I'm not trying to point the finger at anyone.

        • Lol blaming Sony and Microsoft.

It's up to AMD to make them and manage their inventory, it's their product.

          • @Creepy Woody: well its not their product, its TSMC chips, The 7nm and 5nm wafers is what AMD needs to make their CPU and GPU.

But for example they are making it for Apple and AMD, and it probably a 70% for Apple and 30% for AMD, and that 30% is 70% and 30 % for themselvels. You can start to see the issues.

Im not supporting AMD, it pretty annoying and took me a few weeks to get my Nvidia product, but all my saying is that there is a lot of demand atm. More demand then the 20 series and 5700 series. Yes they lied, and it not a good look. They probably knew that and look at their pages, dead silence.

And the sad thing is were in Aus, we have 25 million people, we cant even get direct shipments for AMD or Nvidia and have to go through distributors. Do you think these big companies give a damn about Aus. They didnt even give Aus any 3080 FEs, that how little NVIDIA cares about AUs, MWAVE probably secured their shipment from a distributors who give cards to small compies. America , EU and Asia are a bigger market and they put priority over them. Tbh we shouldnt be surprise to get minimal cards, we will get the cards after US, EU and Asia get their cards,

            • @cheapo123: Wow no wonder these are in such abysmally low stock then. That is an incredibly low number left over for AMD cards and then our smaller market. Thanks for the info, really insightful.

        • I dont blame anyone but AMD, they've promised that there will be stock. New gpu will obviously sell out in the first few weeks but AMD has done worse than Nvidia at this stage.
I was looking forward to AMD but they have now lost a consumer because they simply can't keep their promises.

    • Isnt the RX 6800 XT better than the 3080 in a lot of benchmarks (not all)

No doubt the 6800xt has games it would beat the 3080 in (and vice versa).

Nonetheless, the 3080 is faster on average across all main resolutions (1080p, 1440p, 4k). Note: this isn't accounting for SAM.

  • It’s not the same deal, what makes the previous deal great was the 10% cashback which bring the price down to around $920, and with additional 3% cashback from ShopBack eBay gift card bring the total cost down to $892. Sadly ShopBack is not running another 10% flash sales

I'm not overpaying for a 3070, I rather stay calm, wait and buy a 3080 or a 6800 xt when they come back in stock.

    • +1

Lmao 6800 xt are have much worse stock problems than 3080. If you think its hard to get a 3080, don't wait around for 6800 xt

      • +3

Your are missing the point of my comment. I will get whichever comes instock first, I will wait up to 6 months if I have to, patiently.

    • It is overpriced, but for people upgrading for Cyberpunk, and with holidays coming up, and a long queue for 3080s, it might worthwhile jumping on nonetheless. I cancelled my 3080 preorder a couple days to do just that.

  • +2

Anyone know what the regular RRP of these cards are? I'm curious as to how much of a markup these cards have right now.

    • +5

      $750/ $800

    • +2

      RTX 3070 FE is $809
Gigabyte 3070 Gaming OC is $570 USD MSRP ($70 more than FE) so its safe to say somewhere around $900 is the real price

      • +2

i feel importing it from US would be a better proposition

        • +2

I also feel claiming warranty would be fun proposition

          • @Ebaygiftcards: Well if you are buying international it is only worth looking at EVGA cards due to the global warranty.

          • @Ebaygiftcards: i've gotten warranty from gigabyte for a graphics card i bought from the US before, was actually pretty easy

  • +2

Sucks if you need a new graphics card right now because the only option is to over pay for a GPU.

    • yep :( any idea when the prices will go back down?

      • Not any time soon if you are after 3070/3080 or 6800/6800XT. Doesn't seem to be a lot of deals on older graphics cards either.

Expectation seems to be not much easing of the current situation for at least another couple of months. There is high demand and almost no supply.

  • I normally upgrade my GFX card every 4 or so years, really trying to hold out and not buy these at such an inflated price.

The other side of me wants to also play Cyberpunk on a better card than my 1070.

    • +1

The only way you will play cyberpunk 2077 with other than your 1070 is:

      • Give in to inflated prices

      • Patiently wait 3 to 4 months until graphics cards stock regulates to a normal level and then play cyberpunk 2077.

      • Play cyberpunk 2077 on console.

    • +2

I'm in the same boat as you with a 1070 and eager to upgrade as I'm at 1440p with a high frame monitor. But seriously F these inflated prices. I refuse to overpay when the RRP has been set.
The game will still be fun regardless of graphics.

I played Doom 2016 at launch on a 2GB 770 which I really needed to upgrade. But I couldn't wait for the new cards and I don't regret it, was a damn fun game. I don't think "Sht if I waited a few more months for that card, I would've seen more rocks on the ground in hell".

      • For sure, I will still play regardless but sometimes my brain (and my wife) tells me to just go ahead and bite the bullet.

After spending too much money on a 8800 GTX I committed to try and aim for around the $500 to $700 mark max, hard for me to justify a $1k+ card.

        • So true man - I don't play games much these days but I was so amped for Doom Eternal, played it on a laptop with low res and had a blast
Now I have access to a better setup, I tried it and didn't feel any different at all with high res / high settings

          It's about the gameplay!

  • OOS

  • I would advise against buying Gigabyte products in Australia. Their customer support is beyond horrible.

    • 4 years warranty included is pretty hard to pass up and the card seems rock solid and pretty quiet.

      • It doesn't matter how long the warranty is, but the awful customer support service

        • I feel like most customer support in pc tech is awful. Just the way those companies are.
