LOL I thought this was an April Fools joke.

This is going to sell like hot cakes now.

  • First it was gaming chair, then gaming desk. Now gaming monitor. Amazing Kmart.

    PC systems next?

    • My Kmart PC 15 years ago was a real beast.

  • Is this 3400 or 3440 wide?

    • 3440x1440

    • the uniformity issues are holding me back from purchasing this, maybe wait for another model

  • So is this in store or online only?

  • Wait the site doesn't say it's on sale, is $500 gonna be the normal price at kmart??? If so, we could see this monitor go even further down in price 😮

    • +2

Wait for one to end up in the clearance racks for $2.50

  • +2

Kmart is probably the last place I would expect to buy a monitor - let alone a Xiaomi monitor! - but I think I'd be willing to pay a $50 premium compared to the $450 on Ebay tomorrow.

    • why would you pay $50 extra?

      • +8

Having a store you can take it back to I would guess.

        • You're on the money.

          • +3

@lachlantula: Ooo i was gonna buy it on eBay tomorrow, but now that u mention it… phsyical store would be nice

  • What's a good graphics card to game on this?

    • +3

      Geforce Gt710

      • Thanks, will SLI 2 of them

        • +1

Nvidia is dropping SLI support, so it's not really a futureproof solution

    • +1

i really wanted to buy this monitor but would have to buy new pc too. cant make this much commitment

      • +1

probably only need to update gpu

    • Matrox G400 FTW

This vs the Dell S2721DGF 27" 165hz Gaming Monitor from yesterday for primarily Gaming?

Spec wise seems like a slightly smaller refresh rate but for a much larger and curved monitor if thats your thing but I am a total monitor noob

    • +1

This is curved ultrawide aspect ratio 21:9, and a VA pannel.
The Dell is regular aspect ratio 16:9 and an IPS pannel.
It depends on what you want!

      • I went from a 32inch 1080p 144hz monitor to this yesterday. Some games don't support the 21:9 for cutscenes and have black bars to shrink it to 16:9 (AC valhalla), but for the most part I don't regret the change. I do need a better graphics card though, my Vega 64 liquid edition isn't powerful enough to max out the monitor.

    • +2

The Dell has a much better panel in every respect except contrast, if you look up reviews for this you'll find that the pixel response times can't quite keep up

    • I actually moved from an older 30" to a 27" 165hz monitor last year and found gaming on the 27" to be preferable for me.

I think it all depends of preference and don't think I will be in a rush to jump on the ultrawide boat.

    • +1

I have both units and I can't say one is better than the other. The Dell is excellent for gaming and meets all the 'competitive' specs requirements. However sometimes it appears 'washed out' due to the poor contrast ratio. IPS colours are really good though. The Xiaomi's colour is a little 'muted' but boy it is really contrasty at the same time. The VA panel's pixel response can't keep up with 144Hz and there are some dark smearing but it is not noticeable at all.

I got both so I can use one for gaming and the other for productivity (best of both worlds for me).

  • +1

I can't resist. Gonna have to buy this and hit up some counter-strike.

    • At 640 x 480 black bars res

  • Is it a concern that this monitor is 3400*1440
Should I hold out for 3840 x 2160 or is the difference not that noticeable?

    • Wider aspect ratio works better in many games like shooters, racing & flight sims.

    • +1

3840 × 2160 is 4k, a 16:9 resolution, which if a 4k monitor is what u want, sure. But 4k monitors are usually 60hz, while 144hz 4k monitors are insanely expensive. 3440x1440 is a great resolution for 34 inch ultrawide, same density as 27inch 2560 × 1440. I don't think you should hold out for a 2160p ultrawide, as that will cost thousands.

    • +1

Depends on what you plan to use it for. If you plan to use it for PC for movies and games it will be great. If you plan to also use it for console, then you may be better off getting a 4k monitor. Ps5 apparently doesn't support 1440p, only 1080p and 4k. Unsure about the Xbox series X supporting ultrawide resolutions.

  • Hi need some help fellas.
Should I buy this or Philips 345E2AE UWQHD 75Hz FreeSync IPS 34in Monitor

I use the monitor during the day for work and play COD and Flight Sim at night.
Is VA panel good for work use? Or is IPS much preferred?
Is the difference between 75hz to 144hz noticeable? Running a 3080.
I play for the lulz and prefer quality picture over fps speed.
Is a curved monitor beneficial bcos I don't mind a straight panel.

Any other good monitor that has the same features as the Philips?

    Cheers.

    • +1

      Get this one

    • You're runny RTX 3080. You might as well take advantage of 144 hz goodness. :)

      • Thanks mate. I also do alot of spreadsheet work during the day and the phillips has a higher PPI of 119 as opposed to xiaomi of 110.
Will my satisfaction on 75hz still be almost as good as 144?

        • +1

The difference in PPI is not as significant as the extra screen real estate you gain from going ultrawide

          • @DangerNoodle: The Philips and xioami both have the same resolution. I assume the better PPi will affect screen reading right?

            • @jattsta: Whoops, didn't realise that. Strange that the DPI is different given that they're both the same resolution with the same panel size. I would imagine it would be a calculation error as same panel size and same resolution usually means same DPI. Sharpness should be similar, if not the same.

              • @DangerNoodle: Yeah thanks. It looks like it was a typo.
Just saw some reviews on YouTube and looks pretty good for the price. Will most likely get one from Kmart

  • +3

lol Kmart just release the true RRP for this monitor.

  • What the.. ! and no love for SA

  • Understandable it is more pricey than eBay's deal Sunday if you have eBay plus. For those who don't tho, I would get it from Kmart.. a physical store to take it back to if there were issues at all seems logical to me but there definitely are cheaper options.

    • +1

Sign up for eBay plus free trial.
But you're correct and logical about the warranty stuff.

      • Already done on both my eBay accounts haha… To be honest tho I used to have eBay plus the initial promo and then the $1 promo. Just found wasn't worth it

  • +1

Just ordered Dell 32 Curved 4K S3221QS from the deal yesterday but delivery states mid Jan… What is better for working day time (lots of terminals for dev and browsing) and some gaming night time? Tempted to cancel and get this one instead.

    • It depends on which monitor is better. I would have thought the Dell brand would have been better. But i may be wrong.

  • +2

Yeh Kmarts return policy is incredible… retain the receipt and you will likely be able to return this monitor regardless of the reason.

    • That's what I'm thinking

    • Do they take it even if you've opened it?? Coz if so thatd be nice

  • +1

I'm thinking. Since when did Kmart start selling a computer monitor?.

    • I hope they are selling more than one!

      • At the moment it's just one model.

Xiaomi would be testing the market and not selling too much through Kmart right now.

  • Looks like the Ritz Carlton of $2 shops is going uptown 😂

  • How does the eBay deal work anyway, does anyone know? Do you just log in tomorrow, search and hope for the best?

  • Kmart? what the af lol

  • What time do these sales usually become available? A minute past midnight?

  • I guess Xiaomi obviously wanted a foothold into the Australian B&M store front.

  • zero regrets buying the ones from digidirect for 470$. I would much rather pay 20$ extra to be able to bring it to a store within 5km of me than to deal with posting a bulky monitor back for any warranty claims.

Same goes with kmart ones if you can pay with suncorp kmart vouchers and earn flybuys.

Just look at how often monitors have issues…. dead pixels, light bleed, etc…

    • Same. Got my monitor from digidirect for 470, fast delivery and great monitor, love it, no dead pixels.

      • +1

Same too! I was pleasantly surprised there is no panel imperfection on my unit. I know VA don't exactly has BLB like IPS but someone on reddit did make the complaint. Mine is evenly dark even lights off.

  • I don't think you can use giftcard online though

  • does on board gpu good enough to run this monitor? i dont game.. just need a 34 screen to watch jav

    • Depends on what's your onboard GPU and what's resolution you're going to the monitor to?

  • Should I get this or from ebay tomorrow for $449? I do like the idea of being able to easily return it to kmart if there are any issues.

    • Are you able to recommend anything with better quality and specs in a similar price range?

    • Please advise. I don't know if I should buy this but for the price I really can't find anything similar. My dilemma is the VA vs IPS screen.

      • Maybe I just had a dud. Mine was DoA and have had crappy customer service in resolving this. Ignore my comment

        • Who'd u buy from out of curiosity?

        • Well then it's perfect buying from Kmart. They have a great return policy.

  • Interesting to see from Kmart

  • I see a lot of people saying you'd have to return the monitor if there are issues. I am assuming with big name brands like LG, Asus etc. they would send a technician out to your house if you bought it online rather than having to post it back. Would that be correct?

With this Monitor, I assume you have to send it back to Kmart, if so, I guess I am out as I wouldn't want to take the risk. By the way, how many years warranty does this model have?

I missed out on the Dell 27" DGF yesterday, so I've been looking at other screens.

    • 2 years warranty. And kmart are pretty good with returns so it shouldnt be an issue

      • Thanks.

Would I have to send it back to Kmart, though, as in, pay the postage out of my own pocket? Any idea what the procedure would be if it has a defect or is faulty?

        • For a faulty one, I think they'd sort out postage and everything. Not 100% sure tho. For change of mind, you might have to pay.

  • Do we know if this is online only and one day?
Or can I go to a store on Monday and buy?

    • Don't waste your time going there on Monday and trying to buy it. It states on the web page which you've obviously missed that it's coming soon. There's no stock at Kmart of this monitor yet.

And it does state that it's only available for sale online. So don't waste your time trying to go in store.

      • Yea, cheers I did miss the "online" with the states availability.
        Thanks for pointing that out.

  • Why are some states missing out.

    • There might not be enough available stock to cover nation wide.

    • I assume Kmart don’t have distribution centres in SA, NT & TAS and don’t want to deal with the expense of shipping individual large items interstate to customers. Annoying since I’d like to buy one.

      • Stange for SA, Kmart big here.

  • what u guys opinion of the other gaming pc accessories like the gaming chair $99 and gaming table $129, good cheap low budget for christmas gift to nephew/son as gaming setup?

    • curious on the table myself. wonder how is that, looks a bit small to have a 30inch+ display and case

  • +2

And it feels like just yesterday Kmart used to sell guns… now gaming monitors?

  • Anyone know if there is vertical height adjustment on the stand?

  • Come on Kmart time to go full PC master race and start selling GPUs too.

    • What do you think Kmart is, a computer parts store.

  • Got this monitor last week, my first ultra wide. It is awesome.

  • Dudes, this monitor will be 450 on ebay tomorrow, why are you upvoting this one so hard at 500?

    • +2

Because Ebay only has 1000 for the whole country and will sell out in minutes?
