Just a note to those interested: Virgin have the SGSII for $49 a month ($0 handset repayments), with 5 months half price access :)

You only get $400 worth of credit, but whatever you doesn't use will rollover to the next month. $400 is enough for me (probably wouldn't be for a lot of people though), since I don't call people much. I'm a texter (lol) and this deal has unlimited sms to Oz mobiles (don't think the Vodafone one does). Also has 2gb of data, compared to Voda's 1.5gb.

Sorry, just giving an alternative that people might not be aware of :) Good find OP!

    • thats sweet as

I thought so… signed up this afternoon :)

Just thought I'd add that the credit does not keep rolling-over, it only lasts into the next billing cycle. If you have $400 the first month, but only use $300, then in month two, you will have $500. But the extra $100 that rolled over from the first month will only last that billing period (ie. ~30 days). If in month two, you use $200 out of the $500 ($400 + the $100 from month 1), then in month three, you will have an extra $200 the next month (so $600), since the extra $100 from month one will not rollover as well.

Sorry for the ridiculously stupid explanation, just wanted it be super clear. Didn't want people to abuse me if they found out that the credit doesn't all accumulate until you have thousands of dollars worth. Anyway, just head over to the Virgin site and read the T&C's.

    • I also liked the 29 dollars Sony Ericsson Arc with 5 months 50% off access fee. ( vodafone one is 850 network compatible, but virgin one is not)

My contract with vodafone is about to end now and they refused to match virgin price.
So for $29+10 on vodafone with $180 credit, vodafone rep was trying to tell me their $180 is better than the $400 given by virgin as their price is 1 cent cheaper and flagfall 2c cheaper.
She also said that they are an international company and their network is best in australia ;)

Also note ARC was available with cheapest price on crazy john for $25 per month and $50 cash back, but is out of stock now.

Though Specs of Arc are not that impressing with only 512 MB RAM, but it is one of the most impressing looking phones.

    • Virgin's website states 3 months of free access now instead of 5 months of half-price access. :-)

    24 month contract btw

best phone in a long time.

Wouldn't it be cheaper to buy phone outright and go liveconnected? 24 months contract is ages.

yes, would come out to be $31 a month instead of $45 and not locked in a contract and not on vodaphone.

  • call vodafone sales team and you can get better than -84 offer

    • call vodafone sales team and you can get better than -84 offer

      Please explain?

      • I did this just last week. I had 5 months left on my contract and saw a deal from Crazy Clark where you get the Galaxy S2 on the $25 plan and just pay $10 for the phone over 24 months.

I told Vodafone that I plan on switching to Crazy Clark (since they use vodafone network too) and they offered me the same deal to renew my contract and waived the 5 months on my old one.

So I am on the $29 cap with vodafone and only pay $5 per month for the handset for a total of just under $35/month for the GS2

        • Is this deal still on?

        • Thats pretty strange. I am almost finished on my plan and I asked them to match the virgin one for sony and they refused. best thing they offered was to give 29+5 for sony arc. where as it was 29 on virgin only with 5 months 50% discount.

        • Surely you mean Crazy John's?
