  • I bought Kraken Pro V2 for about $95 about a year ago.

If this is anything like those, they should feel comfortable around the ears, sound great playing music with it's punchy base from the 40mm drivers,

Couple of things that could be improved - high frequency response is poor, and given they stick with the large 40mm drivers it may be a problem with this model.

But the one that really needed fixing was the mic. The V2 Pro have a sliding microphone that you can retract if you don't need it, you can bend it too (like this model) but the design was poor.

When I was playing ESO an mmorpg the icon used to pop up on everyone's display every 1-2 seconds as if I was talking (that's probably due to the open air design letting sound from the headphones reach the microphone).

So, that couldn't be fixed, because of the design even though it was supposed to have a directional mic.

And just general complaints of poor sound from other players whenever I would take the headphones off and then back on (I guess the microphone would move a bit)

Just general complaints from others unless I had the mic in just the right place (which wasn't easy with a sliding, bending, microphone).

This model has a different mic by the look of it, and it looks like it's fixed in place (non retractable) so maybe that problem was fixed, which was the biggest problem.

Other than that the V2 Pro were a great pair of headphones for the money, I think you probably won't go wrong with this model either, especially at that price.

Just be sure to check the mic if you're going to use it for multiplayer (I bought mine on a big discount, but later I found out why it was so cheap lol).

  • same price at Costco for the "lite" version. (no volume control or mute button and an astonishing 20g lighter)
