                    • @cille745: yeah, wish we had more options at this range…so many freaking stores and none decided to compete for price

Umart even got caught price gouging and offering fake discounts

                • @cille745: That's really cool/interesting to know. Any idea if you can still pre-order them at their current listed prices? I just sent an email to PLE to ask.

Also, if the price is the same between say an EVGA 3080 and an equivalent non-reference design (aftermarket cooled) RX 6800XT, is the RTX 3080 still the card to get over the AMD card? I haven't had time to read reviews since the initial launch reviews of the RX 6800XT, and also haven't looked into the Nvidia card's performance since the launch of the reference design GTX 3080s (are the aftermarket cooled 3080s much better performers over the stock cooled ones?).

The main reason I was looking to buy an aftermarket cooled RX 6800XT is because I thought the prices would be cheaper than the non-reference design GTX 3080s, and I also stupidly thought that the RX 60xx series GPUs would have more stock available.

                  • @Ice009: The only cheaper AIB 6800 XT's at the moment are Powercolor and Sapphire at the moment in that same sort of price range. The wait times for the PLE EVGA FTW3 Ultra 3080 are extremely long at this point. I ordered mine an hour after release and only got it yesterday.

Performance between the two seems to be pretty similar. AMD has more VRAM, Nvidia has much better RTX, and more importantly, DLSS support if you're looking to play Cyberpunk. I honestly reckon 10GB for the 3080 should be fine, and the point where it isn't will be the point where you'll want to upgrade anyway.

                    • @cille745: Thanks. I will do more reading and watch some more reviews when I have some more spare time. I guess if you don't think the extra VRAM on the AMD cards will matter much for future use (like next year - I'm not looking at more than 1 year down the line as I'll buy a better card if it's needed by then), then I may just go with an Nvidia card as the pricing it too close right now. If AMD was cheaper like I thought they'd be, then yeah, I would be happy with one as I'd be OK with the performance difference, but also, like you said, I'd probably prefer the better RTX and DLSS support for newer games such as the upcoming Cyberpunk 2077.

                      • @Ice009: If you're going to buy the next best thing, then definitely the 3080. Rtx and DLSS have matured quite a bit now, where as we haven't heard anything about AMD's upscaling tech yet

  • +6

Rep, you know … besides the deals are great, YOU made this campaign greatly successful!

    • Let's go out for ice-cream to celebrate.

  • +2

read a book to kid and come back. Noooo!!! ALL GONE! Please can we add more unit?

    • me too!!

    • I hope in the new year to get a 2500 unit deal. But this is all for today.

  • +8

I was literally more nervous than taking exams

    • Was so nervous too. Heart was pounding out of my chest.

      • +2

you guys should try the Airpods pro drop, this is just child play.

        • +2

Have tried before, no anxiety at all when I'm not expecting to actually score any. Just like entering an exam hall knowing I'm gonna fail the course no matter what, no pressure!

  • +3

I was refreshing so fast and still missed out. Will this at this price be back again or not gonna see this price for a long time?

    • +4

I think I remember seeing OP saying on another post that the next big sale will be around New Years. I guess it's yet to be seen whether it'll be this low ever again, and given the obscene demand I'd be surprised if Dell chose to go this low again because they're just leaving money on the table, you'd think.

    • +1

I was refreshing constantly until a minute before when I realised it was causing slight lag on my end by refreshing too much.
Ended up waiting until the clock ticked over, refreshed once & got one within 10-15 seconds.

Not 100% sure if it gave me a better chance but thought it might be worth noting for next time.

  • I was early but when I checked out I couldn't apply the code. kept saying "This code can't be applied to your order" why?

    • +1

      Same for me man

    • +1

Have you used the code on other items in the Dell store? It's 2 uses per account

      • I've bought nothing from dell before on ebay

    • +2

Ebay bug, sometimes you have to log out and back in. Sorry to hear :/

      • +2

No need to be sorry, its not your fault. But this sadly ruined my day completely. Waited months for the deal to come back and was looking forward to it all day.

      • +1

logged out, cleared cache , logged in. it comes up with the same error. any ideas?

        • the other suggestion is to use mobile or ebay app. This usually solves it

          • +1

@LiMaaa: Negative, if I ever figure it out I'll let you know

  • still available via dell website, but why the review is only 3.7 average?

    https://www.dell.com/en-au/shop/dell-27-gaming-monitor-s2721…

    • +3

Great monitor but reviews on the site were dragged down by people complaining about shipping delays

    • +2

      Shipping times.

    • It's $639 on the Dell site, though? Still a good special, but a bit out of my price range.

  • +1

i was tempted to not use PayPal but I did anyway; was hoping it wasn't a mistake but boy, that time to login then to processing payment .. that loading process … it feels like a minute or two.

  • +2

was waiting the whole day to get the 21dgf and I got stuck in cashreward a d now its gone… I am so pissed…
will just get the xiaomi uw now

    • literally same, I wonder when it will go on sale? :/

  • -6

Missed out on the S2721DGF. Absolutely gutted. Been waiting all day, had everything ready, started checking out the moment it went live but by the time I got the code entered and hit the confirm button it was sold out.
Now the hunt begins for another option. Swore I'd never buy another IPS because of the bad contrast so I guess I'll take it as a sign.
Congrats to everyone lucky enough to snag one.

    • Keen for any thoughts on the contrast, or anything else about IPS? Hoping I've bought the right monitor. I'm sure it will be all good.

This will be my first IPS, but I'm 'used' to backlight bleed on my TV and some older monitors. Hoping this will be a step up from my LG's, a TN 240hz with shocking colour, but otherwise great for games. And a lg550-something-B 31.5” 4K VA with shocking viewing angle and a stuck bright green pixel in the upper middle. Having a go at some vector graphics/pcb design where odd contrast glowing effect made me want to gouge my eyes out at most settings, but browsing oddly ok.

Did my reading a few months back and decided to keep and eye out for the s2721dgf. Can't remember too much of what I read about IPS other than better viewing angle and worse backlight bleed.

      Hoping for a good all-rounder.

    • +7

Sorry to hear. Why did you neg the deal?

      • -1

        because he missed out,
should have made it a supply of 10,000 monitors, would have been ok waiting for 4 moths

        • Some would disagree haha.

    • +1

Strange. 1000 units got sold out only by 7:02. If you did get on the moment if went live, it shouldn't have taken you less than a minute to enter the code. I got one even though I had to type in 5 extra codes for my gift cards.

      • +1

damn! you're ballzy haha, I was tempted to do giftcards but thought nope, I'm not missing out on that 38" haha. All gone in 45 seconds, glad I just straight went for it.

        • +1

Haha. That was me being foolish not ballsy. I never expected 1k units to go out in 2 mins. Definitely wouldn't have used gift cards if I wasn't after the DGF.

        • +1

My Paypal at first messed up for the 38 and I just about had heart failure, got it through though!

          • @cille745: Oh my, by the time I was putting the promo code in I could feel my heart pumping. Its quite the adrenaline rush racing through the checkout! Couldn't imagine PayPal screwing up

      • +1

Not that easy when you’re trying to do it on your phone because you’re stuck at work…

  • +5

Any recommendation on other deals of similar panels to the S2721DGF

    • +5

LG's 27GL850 - which uses an identical panel, albeit with a different configuration - is discounted at the moment for $638. The Dell discount is just that good that it's kind of incomparable to anything else right now.

      • FWIW, compared to my very old AOC/benq cheapies from a decade back, the LG joystick interface is generally pleasant.
I have two LG's, neither with that panel, but the interface seems consistent across both of them.

        • That is true. I've got a 24GM77 at the moment that I'm looking to upgrade from and interacting with the OSD was never really an issue for me.

      • There is also the Lenovo Legion Y27q-20 at $699 from their website.
Apparently it's "Better build quality (Lenovo), better stand (Lenovo), better refresh rate (Lenovo), better response time (Lenovo)" by comparison to the LG 27GL850.

        &

BenQ ex2780q can also be had for $599 from multiple sources atm.

        • +1

Interesting, do those both use the same Nano IPS LG panel? Not too familiar with them myself.

          • +1

            @lachlantula: They do.
Though apparently the BenQ stand is very basic with a very unique colour, also doesn't maintain the response times quite as nicely as the LG & thus the Lenovo.

  • +11

Not gunna lie, pretty pissed off that these all sold in a minute…

    • I didn't think they would because upvote count, but ig you guys were secretly waiting to pounce.

  • Meeh hdr600 doesn’t count rather g9

    • I mean that is significantly more expensive (even without considering the discount on this)…

    • +3

So I take it that you were too slow for the 38"..?

      • +3

        That burn. 🔥

      • Hdr10 only here, real champ shit, enjoy your washed out colours :)

    • This has double the dimming zones, but they're both bad for hdr

  • +1

Absolutely shattered. I went to check out, added to my cart etc. then ye ol faithful browser didn’t respond, quickly relaunched it and by the time the site reloaded it was gone.

I still have it in my cart :(

    https://i.imgur.com/JmX1njR.jpeg

    • Update: As per my second comment

I messaged eBay, they responded with basically "it sucks to suck" - spoke with LiMaaa and he was able to secure a very last monitor for me at the sale price. Absolute champion.

  • +2

Got one, been sweating on this for months! Missed three other deals on the DGF, amazing I managed to get one in the 1 minute(!) they were available.

Thanks so much to LiMaaa, and all others associated with this deal behind the scenes

    • +1

Yeh those guys work damn hard for these deals. Appreciate that.

  • +2

I'm getting PMs asking for which bot I used haha

Hard to believe but no bot! Just had the page open, and had logged out/in of ebay and cleared cache beforehand.

Refreshed on the dot at 7PM, clicked through the add to cart, had the code in clipboard and paypal already logged in, quickly pasted code and smashed place order…got very lucky I suppose

Followed Limaa's advice of logging out/in from ebay beforehand to ensure no funny business with the code

Thanks a lot LiMaa, great end to the year after the absolute shit-show that has been the GPU launches

    • +1

No worries, smart move. Well at least we now have monitors for when the 3080 and 3070 are in abundance.

      • +1

I didn't realise that we should have logged out and back in ¯_(ツ)_/¯ . oh well, still managed to get one. :) Thanks so much LiMaa!

        • I THINK it's also worth waiting for the clock to tick over & refresh once.

    • +1

got a pm about bots too. Did the exact same thing. Refreshed login, paypal 1 click, address check, copied Code and F5 at the helm.

    • +1

I mean I just refreshed from 6:58 and it appeared and clicked it, ebay wasnt even lagging

      maybe i got lucky

      • mine appeared right after the time ticked over to 7pm

    • +2

I wasn't aware of the log out trick to clear cache..
I also had a half dozen other eBay tabs open from shopping (foolish in hindsight) but I also refreshed once on the dot at 7pm & got one in 10-15 seconds with PayPal.
At around 6:57pm I had been refreshing multiple times & noticed it was causing lag so decided to wait. I think spamming refresh is a bad idea.

  • +1

Managed to get one! Thanks for posting the deal LiMaaa!

  • Thanks to Limaaa! Managed to snag one of the DGF

    • Awesome. Sleet deal.

  • Wow, what a rush! I managed to buy 2 in separate transactions because the browser crashed :| Cancelled 1 so hopefully it goes to someone here!

    • +2

how did you manage to order two in seperate transactions? I didn't even have time to buy one…

      • +2

Probably Ultrafast NBN & a $3000+ pc with no browsers or programs running.

  • -1

    Never mind.

  • +1

so LiMaaa, serious question now, when will that 3 years warranty kicks in? I assume once the monitor is delivered and not from today, right?

    • I noted the warranty was mentioned in the eBay description. Do I need to register the product with Dell when it arrives? Screen cap or save anything particular, proof of purchase, etc?
Warranty and no bright pixel guarantee was my main reason for the purchase.
Stuck green pixel right in the middle of my LG is only mitigated by its terrible viewing angle, lol…

      • +1

You can register the service tag via Dell for easy checking of remaining warranty or claiming if any issues arise.

    • +4

The warranty begins once product is marked delivered. Wouldn't be fair otherwise considering some shipping ETA's.

  • @LiMaaa any chance of adding some more units in for the deal?

    • I wouldn't mind waiting until Feb for one!

      • New year new possiblities! ^-^

        • Hoping 200 units for AW3821DW

          • +1

            @dtrax: Let's go for 500 ;)

        • I can wait for S2721DGF to be same or lower price but my time limit is 6 months.

    • Likely not :'(

  • Cheers for the deal Lima!
Any idea when we will know a shipping date?
    Too pumped to wait hahah

    • Same here! Mine processed at 19:00:22, hoping this is early enough for pre-christmas post.

    • I can't tell you specifically, about 150 will get it pre Xmas, the rest through late Dec and early Jan.

  • Any deals on the 27' QHD IPS 75hz coming soon?

    • +2

Been and gone for BF I believe

  • Is the stock allocated to you in the cart? Or depends on who completed the transaction first of there is one in stock and 2 people have it in their cart and trying to pay

    • +1

It's who completed first. We have a small buffer of units to account for exact same time processing of cart.

  • I own 2 old old BenQ 1080p monitors. This will be the first time going above that…..I'm nervous. Will my mind be blown? How about my socks? Better question; was I one of the first 150 that will get it in December?

    • Your mind will absolutely be blown.

  • +2

Finally managed to snag one of these! Hopefully the one I ordered previously will make it here in December to test out.

I'm seeing some people talking about bots/missing out - here's a trick that I usually do.

Open this page here to keep track of what time the eBay site itself currently is

Keep refreshing it until it hits about 15 seconds before the designated start time of any of these flash deals

Go the the product page (or if you're after really popular items like AirPods and have them added to your cart - go to your checkout page where you missed out on getting it in a previous batch), keep hitting refresh till the buttons to buy appear. If you're doing it from your check out where you already have the item added, just keep spamming the Pay button until it allocates you stock (this is what I did for the $99 AirPods today).

  • +2

I managed to get one on my phone while at work. I had the code already copied, made sure my debit card was already on my eBay account, refreshed the page right at 6:00pm, added to cart, went to checkout pasted in the code, and bought it. I didn't do it particularly fast and I still managed to get a copy. I'm not sure how a lot of people didn't manage to get one even when prepared, guess I got lucky?
