Damn the console deals are setting worst every year.

Last year Amazon had a Switch with Mario Kart 8 for $349 with 10% back with zip.

    • Well we don't know what Amazon will be doing this year. But I am hedging a bet that it won't be as good as what you posted :)

    • +3

I think it is all of the stimulus money.
PS5 sold out everywhere and selling for $1600+ on eBay.
Xbox series X sold out and selling for $1200 on eBay.
Nvidia 3080 sold out everywhere $1300 - $1500 cards and even most of the pre-orders are sold out.
AMD 6800 XT sold out everywhere at $1100 card.

      • +4

Money people make from scalping is their stimulus

      • +4

        Stimulus money?

        • +8

          what stimulus money?

      • +5

Yeah nah. Lots of wealthy people who cancelled travel plans and have spare cash, coupled with low supply.

        • +1

Measures total $213.6bn from the commonwealth, $11.8bn from the states and $105bn in RBA-government lending.

22 March – government announces a second major economic rescue package worth $66bn including a $550 coronavirus supplement to jobseeker payments and a second $750 payment to welfare recipients.

So it's more likely that people who would have flown to Bali are now just buying up consoles and graphics cards? And has nothing to do with the enormous amounts of money bring thrown around as stimulus?

          • +5

@OzzyBrak: Got to be honest, given my disability and loss of job due to the pandemic I was kicked back onto Jobseeker at the start of the pandemic. The supplement and the stimulus money enabled me to purchase my new computer (that will help me get work in the future if I don't move from JS to disability) when otherwise I would have found it hard to rub pennies together covid or not.

While I may have been wise to invest in my digital skills I can sure as heck see why people were "new console!"

            • +4

@Wickzki49: Good on you mate, the stimulus money was made for spending and good on you for investing in a computer to improve your skills going forward. Having a decent computer these days with all of the online training available is a good idea.

      • Damn i can get $1200 for my xbox???? Lol

      • @OzzyBrak I was against paying that much into a console, but I had sold my One X already to avoid losing more money. I also sold my warrior Samsung S8+ so I had 550 as a bonus.

I contacted EB Games and so on, nobody has any clue about when they will receive more consoles, or if they will receive any this year. Rumours go to April next yeah.

I am not gonna f wait for miracles and since I made that extra money, I ended getting XSX for 1.1k in private with 2y warranty (I believe all are 2y).

The way I see I only took out my pocket 550 so I was "okay" with it.
I would not do it if I had to take out of my pocket 1.1k without "savings".

The console is a beast, playing on it has a whole different meaning, no regrets <3

      Last year Amazon had…

      Last year was 2019…

      • +1

        Hence “worse every year”..

        • +4

          Not what I was saying.

Switch deals in 2018 = better than 2017

          Deals in 2019 = better than 2018

2020 = not comparable to any other year in modern history

          • @muwu: yes, i haven't seen switch drops below $400 mark lately, even prime day.

          • @muwu: What was the deal in 2019?

            • @JKnoch92: Quote from above "Last year Amazon had a Switch with Mario Kart 8 for $349 with 10% back with zip."

    • 3 days away from black friday and no word from amazon if this is going to be on sale. I'm more interested in the Mario kart 8 itself. Wondering if it normally goes on sale too? Just got myself a 2 weeks old nintendo switch with a good price off a friend who doesn't like it.

  • Thanks bro. Looking for one and looks like best deal so far.

  • The $49 Tws earbuds in the catalogue really look like Airpods Pro…..

  • +2

Nintendo Switch without the game from JBHifi for $381 when you buy ultimate gift cards from Coles 15% off (after few days).

You might also be able to negotiate the switch price at JBHifi and let them pricematch other stores at black Friday?

  • -6

Really excited for the Switch Pro now. Retailers clearing out their old stock lets gooo.

    • +3

      I wouldn't get too excited - it's a re-release for Black Friday.

(I am, however, excited to buy one this Black Friday :) )

    • -6

Getting negged from salty plebs is so satisfying. Let's go Switch Pro!

  • -3

What's NSO? (oh it's nintendo's version of xbox live etc.. pass) So Ninty are charging for online play now? pfft
i'd prefer it a cheaper bundle without that

    • Switch Online also gives you the NES and SNES emulators and cloud save functionality, if that helps you. It's also cheap like $30 a year or something.

      • +1

Ahh ok.. that is actually better than the others… though the others give you free games
        Cheers

    • it's a necessity for online play, everyone had to join just to play animal crossing to trade stuff haha. Or stuff like overcooked to play online with friends during covid. 90% of friends have it for one reason or other.

If you start a family plan with 7 other people, the price comes down to less than $8 for 12months! That is definitely an acceptable price to pay I reckon. (Theres a section on ozb with people recruiting others into their plan, if you can't gather enough friends)

  • Hey op, where on the catalog is this deal?

    • It's now been covered by the "too hot to show" box.

  • Will the black friday deals be available for the grey switch model as well? That's the one I've had my eye on.

    • The catalogue at the time only said Neon. My guess is that both colours should be there. If not, Kmart was reported to have both here so worst case you could just price match it. There's also an expectation that other retailers would stock this bundle so it could be worthwhile just to wait it out once all the prices are out.

  • +1

FYI $349 via ebay plus on friday and monday. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/583956

    • the best deal so far!! thought we wont' see such price point this year.

    • Suspect this will be neigh on impossible to get given other ebay flash sales. Plus you have to be a Plus member dont you?

  • +2

Heads up that Kmart have just revised their price down - was $448, now $425 - https://www.kmart.com.au/product/nintendo-switch-console-mar…. Not yet available but presumably will be live on or before Friday. Not as sharp as the eBay deal but presumably a little easier to get one.

  • +2

The best deal for this console was with amazon at $349 and 10% back paying with Zip.

  • +1

Isn't the Amazon deal for $399 better than this?

  • +1

After seeing I missed out on the $349 Amazon Deal… This Big W deal for the Nintendo switch seems Dirty

    • With so many getting the fill at 12 Midnight the promo 1000 at similar price of Amazon deal on Ebay should be very gettable with 10% off Woolie Ebay cards .
This deal is a rotten price now .
All the deals I found 33-50% of retail even that was not the best value on offer at that time .

  • Just picked one up from JB. $340 with the discounted Ultimate cards. Kids will be happy at Chrissy.

  • Looks like Amazon have just beat this deal - $399. https://www.amazon.com.au/Nintendo-Switch-Console-Deluxe-Onl…

  • Way too much.

There are only 2 perfect deals right now:

    • eBay Plus 349 with the same plus, next run 5PM
    • Amazon Prime with 12% cashback via Shopback at 5PM-6PM only
    • Not if you got 15% off Ultimate Cards. Came down to $340 at JB. These deals whilst being good, require subscriptions which many dont have plus were limited quantities. Id rather go the easy option at JB. I was there at 7 am and was the only person in the store. I dont think Black Friday deals were as huge this year as previous years. I was back at my local Westfield tonight and whilst people were there it certainly wasnt busy.
