15% off Nintendo eShop, TCN The Kids/Teen/Him/Her/Cinema/Pamper/Pub&Bar/Restaurant, Google Play Gift Cards @ Coles

8329

Saw this today at Coles.

15% off gift cards including Nintendo eShop, The Kids/Teen/Him/Her/Cinema/Pamper/Pub/Bar/Restaurant gift cards and Google Play gift cards ($50-100 only)
Starting 25/11 ending 1/12

UPDATE: cards not activate or not scanning/discount at checkout. Coles are pulling all cards out and refund. Some people reported some cards are fine. Wait until this is resolved. Such a shame.

UPDATE 2: some people reported that JB-Hifi has lifted the restriction on $500 max Gift card purchases, so you could try your luck. Please buy max 5 cards only and leave them for other people (including me, haha, got none so far) so everyone can have a smiling Black Friday purchases.

PARTY IS OVER. Well done to those who got the cards. Pity to the people who could not get the cards (me too, tried 5 times, gave up, friend gave me few cards). What a good deal with such a shameful operation that left many people frustrated.

            • @he11bent: I'm in exactly the same boat. Any updates?

        • +1

You mean you didn't check the deal or the final amount at the checkout?

  • +1

Just used 7 at my local JB and they didn't say anything about limit.

  • i registered one of my 8 HIM cards online at the webpage https://giftcardhim.com.au/register

The balance showed $100 immediately , so maybe I can now go back to JB and all 8 will work?

    • I think yours should be fine. Did you got 'approved' when activated at store?

      • yes but when i went to JB it didnt work

        • Thats shame.

  • +1

Used 10 cards at JB Hifi no issues. Thinking now of going for a TV purchase but things might look a bit different tomorrow!

    • which one?

      • +1

Camberwell, VIC (I assume you're not asking about the TV)

  • So let's get this straight there are no issues with these cards or is there aa says here coles have withdrwn them?
What is the issue no credit in them?
If deal is still ok and available how long till the money shows in card?
Can you use these say on jb online or only in store?
And im sure it was said you could swap them for jb cards how?

So fun day today…with no result.

To confirm, JB HiFi (check with 2 stores) will accept as many gift cards as you have. They might asked your photo ID if the gift cards are over $500 for security purpose. The staffs are all very helpful and lovely.

Now back to coles. The system was crashed (Aust wide) around 9am-10am and will not loaded any credits even it said approved on your docket (Her, Him and Teen). Stores can’t refund 3rd party giftcards. So rang customer cares and they advise to send them the cards details as they can’t get on hold from TCN team. They might get the answer tonight or tomorrow for ppl that want a full refund.

    • -3

Bull - my receipt at 7.37am says the system buckled a lot sooner than you are suggesting.

      • You do understand that Australia has few different time zones, right.
        That is my local time

        • What's your timezone then?

Edit - Brisbane in your profile. So my transaction was 6.37am your time

    • That's what happened to me. Bought a few Teen cards at Coles, all approved, checked the balance online and it showed $0. About 2 hours later, I checked again and the balance showed correctly. Went to JB and used the cards, no problem.

Like some of the posters said, it takes a while for the funds to go into the gift cards. Just wait for a while and check the balance again.

  • Just went to Coles trying to buy the HIM cards. There was no discount at all. The register lady said they are having issues with the HIM/HER cards and suggested me to come back later. Anyone experiencing the same? I got no issue getting discount for the Nintendo eShop card though.

    • +1

did you get the correct cards? There is another card called HIM, it's pathetic, there are 2 different HIM cards.

      • Does your card have jb on them? Mine didn't but the $100 still scanned in at $85 each.

      • I remember it’s Ultimate HIM and not just HIM. Isn’t it the right one?

        • if it's BROWN it's the wrong one

        • It is the blue one that has 15% off.

          • @jnbluv2h: Yeah blue one but doesn't have jb hifi on it. Can it still be used at jb?

            • @quill: I'd check details with your Coles. Mine has JB logo on it.

      • +1

I saw three different variations. Definitely not the Ultimate ones.

      • There's definitely more than two. Must be some tricks the card companies all use.
There's TCM (and apparently some have the JB hifi logo and some don't - no idea if it's just different print runs or if they actually do not work).
At the Coles' I went to, I also saw Ultimate and Bananalab, both with HIM, as well. I accidentally purchased Bananalab and trying to get a refund now. Fingers crossed.

  • +3

pitch forks are definitely not an over reaction. ( figuratively anyway )

These business want us to believe a gift card is just like cash but they can't provide the proper support to make it trouble free. Shame on them

  • Alderley QLD was cleared out of $100 cards by punters first thing. The guy just now let me buy 10 x $50 (no probs with discount applying) so hopefully JB will let me use all in one hit per other lucky punters here

  • Coles Chisholm (ACT) got plenty HIM/HER/KIDS cards with $30/$50/$100 value on the shelf, bought 5x with receipt says APPROVED.
$0 balance upon checking via TCN website.
    Hopefully they'll get loaded soon.

    • bought an hour ago no balance loaded yet

    • Bought mine there this morning about 9:15am. Were loaded by 10:30. And spent by midday

    • Avoid Manuka Coles if you can - service was appalling as they treat everyone wanting gift cards like a criminal. Bought cards from Curtin store instead. In and out in less than 5 minutes ^^

  • Coles at Lachlan's Square, Near Macquarie Park is all cleaned out of the $100/$50 ones, very few left of the $30 options.

  • Confirmed with three jb stores in Canberra, they just got message from headquarter saying only $500 TCN cards are allowed.

    • +4

Can confirm this also just received a call, manager said however I can buy something and return it as a possible work around

      • +3

JB manager said that? Well if he says so why not lol

      • Can't you simply buy $500 JBHiFi gift cards with the TCN cards and then use the JBHiFi ones to purchase the >$500 product?

        • +1

No you can't exchange TCN cards for JB HIFI cards. "Cards cannot be used to purchase gift cards issued by JB HiFi"

      • Which storr manager?

        • i dont think they would tell you who

        • Gold Coast store manager at a major shopping center

    • Interesting - must have got in just in time. Spoke nicely to the manager and he asked what we were buying. TV, chromebook and a few other bits and pieces. Used 15 HER cards. Person on the counter said we were not the first today….

    • What was the 3 jb hi fo stores

  • coles kedron got a few $50 left, chermside got bunch of her and kids left for $50, no sign of $100 though, took 3 hours in my case for it to load

  • I'm late to the party.

So what's happening? The cards aren't activating properly?

Is it worth my time going to local Coles?

    • +5

too much trouble for too little gain

      • Sounding like it after now having read a few comments.

Was simply going to buy $750 worth for when the Xbox is back in stock next year. Don't think this is worth the $112.50.

        • Especially as you may not be able to use all $750 in one transaction at JB, and may not be able to buy over $500 at coles.

    • Dont go for such cards until all issues fixed for my opinion.

    • I think the issue is that, because of the high rate that the cards are being sold, the TCN activation and/or balance loading system(s) are overloaded. Hence the issues where cards are failing to activate at the checkout or are taking some time to show a valid balance following successful activation.

I got caught with the latter - cards didn't work at JB even though they'd activated at Coles. They're now showing a valid balance on the TCN balance checker, some hours after I purchased them.

At least they're not as bad as Ticketek gift cards which take 48 hours to activate…

      • Yeah as soon as I saw the activation msg on the coles screen, I knew it wouldn't be instant. (I was hopeful) but wasn't surprised.

  • +1

I bought the wrong gift cards. JB isn’t in it now I have $500 worth of gift cards. What can I do to return them?

    • +2

nice christmas present for your loved one

    • +4

Did you not notice when you were charged full price for them?

      • I got the discount for him cards but it doesn't have jb on it. Did I mess up? Only difference other than no jb logo is that the letter is not shiny compared to the one online

      • +2

Yes that confused me for a while. There appears to be the ultimategiftcardnetwork ones (has the logos of the 6 "supported" companies on the front) which were on the shelf, and then thecardnetwork ones (only has HIM/HER/TEEN on the front).

At 12:00pm I was zapping past a Coles on the way home , dropped in, asked at the service desk if they had sorted out the problems and was advised that they had. The Giftcardnetworks cards weren't on the shelf but rather behind the service desk. The front end controller said they've probably missed out on $10000s of missed sales because of the screwup in her opinion.

I've got $500 of (correct) cards waiting to go to JBHiFi to get a Chrome Flex 5 but the cards are still showing zero balance (receipt shows all approved)

Sitting in the local library for the next couple of hours working and checking the balance periodically. :) Luckily the guy a JB has put aside a unit for me, so if it doesn't happen today hopefully tomorrow.

Problem is with all the mucking around and worrying and time, should have probably just bought at full price. The 15% probably doesn't cover my real time, but at least I feel like I'm getting a bargain. :)

        • So you have ones with jb printed on them? I noticed that the HIM cards I bought in addition to not having the jb hifi logo have card number that are 19 digits long meaning they cannot be entered in when checking out online as there is only space for 18 digits on jb hifi online.

          • @quill: @quill

            Pic of packaging here :

The Ultimate Him card was just the gift card on a cardboard backing with the 6 company logos on the card itself (including I think Supercheap Auto)

    • They "might" work : https://thecardnetwork.com.au/pages/the-him-card

The actual page lists more Stores than are actually on the card.
Also the back of the card says to check the website to see a full list of participating retailers and locations.
Also Valid at (list of stores on the card)… and more leading retailers.

  • +1

    How to request the refund?

  • +1

Bought 15x100 ine one go at coles no issues

    • and yet my local Coles ( grr ) forced me to 4 maximum even not serving me on reentry

      • ask reasons they should serve. there is limit on self checkout but not on cashier desk. I had the 4 limit when I was trying to self checkout

  • -1

Found some HOME gift card showing the JB logo on it, does that work with discount?

    • No. Read the post.

    • Nope HOME not included in the 15%

  • -1

People should be posting times. I purchased 5 x $100 her cards at 7am - all have the balance no issues

I bought another 5 at 11:16am - all approved but showing zero balance

So delay is at least 2 hours roughly

    • I purchased 5 Restaurant cards at 11:15am, all approved but showing zero balance.

    • i purchased 5 her cards at 955aest, approved with zero balance.

    • Declined on activation at 7am, checking balance showing $0 with status 'active'

Hoping anyone can update if they got balance loaded, no matter activations are 'approved' or 'declined'.

    • GL getting 5 at 11am lol .
Main thing is activation working and those with the cards can start buying them .
Activation takes no longer than 2 hrs if purchased correctly away from the error zone .

    • I got 4 at 7:46am only check 2 but still not showing a balance.

    • Paid 11:56, all approved, still showing zero balance at 13:20

    • Her Cards are now active for me

    • you forget that Aus has different timezones? better include your timezone too. :D

      • sorry yes all AEDT for me

    • confirm mine are loaded now, 3 hours after the purchase.

  • +1

    Still showing $0.00

  • Tried at Logan central Coles, lots $50 cards left however the self check out only allowed 3 cards, asked the staff and manually scanned two more but didn't count, the system only charged 3 and activated 3 cards. Registered online and pending balance to get loaded…

  • Guys, I caught a TCN staff in two coles in my area this morning, she is collecting all him her and kids cards from my local coles. I think the whole sales was a show(scam)!. The cheapest advertising event!!! I took some photos and videos of her in two different coles in Sydney area.

    • +2

Wow legit? How do you know she’s TCN staff not Coles staff?

      • -1

I personally asked her because I saw her grabbing a big bag of tons of him her kids gift cards, I tried to stop her buying bulks by explaining to her it is 5 maximum per person. She told me she is from TCN and she was wearing a tag of visitor given from Coles.

        • -4

I tried to stop her buying bulks by explaining to her it is 5 maximum per person

Nope 5 max with as many transaction as you please ( can get away with lol ) and your not staff keep your nose out of other people biz .

        • Same in Adelaide (rundlemall coles). Two TCN staff with visitor tags counting the cards but I am not sure if they were doing something doggy.

          • @RimofLeo: Aha, their tiny secret tricks. Put 100 cards out for promotion, we ( general customer bought 30 with limits, they internally bought 70 off the limits. Big win for their advertising events.

        • There was a lady with a visitor tag at my local Coles around 1130am when I visited but unsure if she is a staff from TCN as @Tonyz123 claimed. There is a big trolley next to her with many different types of gift card and I was asking her if there's still some Him/Her gift card available (as I can see it's in the trolley). She told me they are pulling it off the shelf 'for now' because the money isn't loading onto the card. I asked her if it will be put back on the shelf once the system issue gets resolved and she said yes but unsure when that will happen. Will pay a visit again this evening to try my luck.

    • It can't be a scam if some are getting through and others are not.

      "Pitch fork sharpening"

    • +1

      You saw Broden lol :)

    • As if mate

She gonna fly all over Australia? Or is there staff in each city doing it?

      • Same in Adelaide. But I doubt if they were collecting the cards or doing something else. Hard to tell.

  • Do you get flybuy points buying these? Thanks.

    • -2

      no

    • Yes

    • I asked the checkout person while purchasing and they said 'yes' so I scanned my card accordingly.

  • For those in Brisbane, this discount does not apply at Coles in Queens Plaza or Myer Centre (Coles Central and Coles Express). Cards will scan at full price.

    • They didn't even have any stock when i checked QP at 11, are you sure you didn't try checking the other cards that have similar words?
