15% off Nintendo eShop, TCN The Kids/Teen/Him/Her/Cinema/Pamper/Pub&Bar/Restaurant, Google Play Gift Cards @ Coles

8329

Saw this today at Coles.

15% off gift cards including Nintendo eShop, The Kids/Teen/Him/Her/Cinema/Pamper/Pub/Bar/Restaurant gift cards and Google Play gift cards ($50-100 only)
Starting 25/11 ending 1/12

UPDATE: cards not activate or not scanning/discount at checkout. Coles are pulling all cards out and refund. Some people reported some cards are fine. Wait until this is resolved. Such a shame.

UPDATE 2: some people reported that JB-Hifi has lifted the restriction on $500 max Gift card purchases, so you could try your luck. Please buy max 5 cards only and leave them for other people (including me, haha, got none so far) so everyone can have a smiling Black Friday purchases.

PARTY IS OVER. Well done to those who got the cards. Pity to the people who could not get the cards (me too, tried 5 times, gave up, friend gave me few cards). What a good deal with such a shameful operation that left many people frustrated.

    • wow. nice work

  • 5 x HIM $100 failed to activate for me, cash refund then Tried 5 x HER $100 and all OK.

  • +7

So much drama and we haven't even got to the part where people try to swap them at JB yet

  • +4

Coles Knox City - They did not honour 5 gift cards for 2 members of the same household which is honestly BS because the policy clearly states ‘maximum 5 per person’, not ‘5 per household’. I really didn’t have time to argue as I had to catch the bus, but I could’ve asked to see the manager and it should’ve worked out. If they put this kind of BS on you, just argue with them in a reasonably civil manner and it should all work out.

  • Managed to get 4x $100 Her Cards and 1x $100 Cinema card without any activation issues just then at Coles Lutwhyche.

Waiting until later to try and check the balance online, these types of cards don’t always activate instantly.

    • What time?

      • “Just then”

Approx 1 min before my comment.

  • +5

Bought a macbook pro with 18 Him/Her Cards

    • +1

      Sweeeet.

    • how? … via online or converting to jb hifi gift card?

      • +2

Instore. The checkout girl swiped all 18 of them at the counter.

  • +3

The IT guy at TCN is going to be popular hope they didn't sleep in.

  • Heaps of cards available at coles Richmond, activation issues with the Him cards as per everyone else’s recent attempts.

    • Odd, I didn't get any issues this morning at Coles Richmond. Then again I got in early at 6.

      • Yeah this was at about 8:15 I attempted, odd indeed.

  • +1

Bought 5x $100 HER cards around 745am, HIM cards all being declined, HER cards ok, checked balance online and the card is active and the full balance is there. Luck of the draw I think!
POLITICALLY-CORRECT PRO-TIP for people looking for cards, think about the KINDS of people that'd be at Coles hoarding these cards at 6/7am, and avoid areas with THOSE KINDS of people…
    Worked for me

    • +1

What are you saying? Avoid areas with men (his), women (hers) and children (kids/teens)?

      • Its easy.. just check the ozbargain geomap locations on members then hit stores with limited members nearby 😂😂😂

    • Ugh. This. My store is in that sort of area. 25 customers literally ran in at 7am and took the lot. None of them were our Wednesday morning regulars.

  • -edit: Removed

  • Is $100 the max amount for these cards or are they available in $500 value as well? I had checked at my local Coles yesterday but couldn't see $500 cards so not sure if I need to go to some other Coles.

    • +1

      $100 is the max

    • Physical cards so pretty sure max is $100 each.

  • -1

so no JB gift cards just these others?

  • -1

    Stupid promotion

  • Bought 4 HIM gift cards from Coles Richmond at 6:04am and they all activated fine.

They all registered with no dramas.

Perhaps I got in early. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

    • What is the benefit of registering (for those planning to use it straight away at JB B&M store)?

      • +1

None. But I would have a balance on one of the cards and wanted to confirm the value on the cards anyway.

    • Must have been right in front of you…

  • I tried 5 HIM and 5x HER card this morning NONE of them activated was told to come back tomorrow :(

  • +1

Gee, might give this a few days before popping in.

  • They have underestimate how much cash ppl have banked during the virous.

    • That…and the fact that people were given free money to keep them a float.

    • Mate, i got loads of spare cash to spend aint nobody stoppng me

    • +1

Time to buy pans to kill the virous.

      • Hahaha verrryyyy niiiiiice reference ;)

  • +1

Went to the store (Hobart Eastlands) at around 7.30 and was told at the checkout that they cannot sell the cards

  • Wow looks like I got lucky here

Went to Victoria Gardens at 6.20am and all the $100 cards were already gone.

Went to Hawthorn at 7am when they open and managed to get 5 x $100 her cards

All active with full balance as per this link:

Bought 5 X $100 Him Card, credit card charged, but the GC activation declined and said issue refund on the screen
Staff at store said they can't issue refund on GC and to contact Coles CS, called them twice already, first they transferred me to TCN without even letting me know, 2nd time the same person picked up the phone and hung up immediately…..that's customer service for ya….top quality!!

    • Same. But Coles just refund me the money straightaway and took all $100 GC away from shelves….
(I found all TCN $100 giftcard were hidden behind other random GC btw)

      • I was expecting the same, but the store manager kept saying these are 3rd party cards and refused to issue refund

        • He should have called corporate. That’s what my local coles did. Guess I was unlucky but lucky at the same time…

          • @takuarc: What are my options now - go back to store as the CS team is just not responding
third time someone picked up and hung up without saying a word
on call for the 4th time - 20 mins and waiting

        • Thats BS. Maybe the Store Manager didn't know how to do them.
My receipt mentioned 3rd Party Giftcard Refund. I went to buy $50 TCN GC instead and had no problem.
Staff member mentioned it had happened for the past few days on $100 GC only.

  • Why is this deal still getting up votes if it is looking like its unattainable?

    • Probably need to update the OP to get confirmation on what is going on.

  • +1

They sold out in 1 min in my local Coles, brandon park, the glen, went 6:05am is all gone, no luck

  • Don’t bother
The Coles staff took all the $100 gift cards
I can assure you this as I was the first person to enter coles when it opened

Don’t want to mention the suburb but this is actually happening

    • You mean pulling off the shelf or keeping it all for him or herself

    • Coles staff bought them? If they tool it down you can ask why? I checked last night in my local coles, these cards are full.

      • I actually hide some $100 card behind other giftcards last night, went to the store at 7.30AM, could not buy any more due to activation😂 at least they hold them for me to come back later

    • That was my experience too, i was waiting behind them while they were grabbing them all

      • -2

how can they be allowed to do that, i would be complaining to the store manager and ask for a review of the video footage if this was conducted under paid working time and asking for a raincheck if the cards are out of stock due to the particular store members actions

  • Apparently all the systems are down and they won't sell them

    • +1

Not true, got mine just a few min ago HER CARDS

      • Yes I know, people are getting them but I'm getting rejected in store

      • Okay, is it a coincidence that the system magically came back up when an off duty staff member came in to buy his gift cards?

  • Any reason to get the him or her over the kids or teen ones for jb?

    • Kids and Teen only available in $50 denomination, and each customer is only allowed to purchase up to 5 gift card.

      • They were happy to do 2 transactions so no problem, but I do see that issue if they hold to the rules

  • Only get $150 kids cards but saying not authorized when i tried to use at JB

  • I haven’t woke up so early over the last 6 months, but luckily I scored a few both HIM and HER. My local coles strictly follows the “Per Transaction” rule, not per person. Cheers!

  • Guys how do you know it's been activated? Just tried another coles, no HER left, tried HIM, it went through? So activated?

    • +1

Wws had one sperate docket to show the activation, not sure about coles

    • +1

If it goes through and is activated ok then it would say Approved on each card reference line. if not it would say declined

      • Did say approved

        • +1

          Then youre set

  • I just checked all 5 of mine, and they have full balance according to TCN's website (HER/HIM)

    • Did you got "approved" on activation process when you purchased the him card?

      • Must have. Everything went smoothly at 630am

  • +3

Bought 20 x $100 gift cards this morning and was able to use them all in one transaction at JB with no problems at all (other than the time it took to swipe and enter the pin for 20 gift cards).

    • Were these him or her cards? :)

      • 5 Him, 15 Her for what it matters.

    • Subpar troll. Account opened 30mins ago…

      • +2

I'm not trolling. I went to Coles at 7.00am and to JB at 8.00am. I signed up as a longtime lurker to let people know that it's not all doom and gloom. I will upload a receipt and you can apologise.

      Show us the JB receipt.

    • well played, sir

  • +1

My wife just bought a phone at JB and used the HIM cards no issue, she said they didn't care how many cards you used when she asked if there was a limit. She had 5

  • I bought 5x $100 cards and just checked one of them on the website and says balance is $0.

    Grrr

    • I just had that too. Does it take a few minutes to go thru if the receipt says it's been approved?

      • No idea? Not game to try activating the other ones

    • +1

That happened to me. Funds came in about an hour later.

  • if the restaurant card works at any restaurant that accepts eftpos, what's preventing the card from being used at non restaurants like a supermarket eftpos?

    • The business needs to be registered as a restaurant in order for the Eftpos to work I believe.I just want to know if it would work at maccas

      • fast food excluded according to their website

      • Tried at one maccas and it worked

        • Thank you

        • sounds like it might work at any eftpos then

          • @ltwo: No tried at ALDI doesn’t work

            • @lilkid28: I wonder if they restrict it by category. Like maccas shows up as eating out and supermarkets show up as groceries.

      • Yes, I used it at Maccas yesterday.

  • +1

5 him cards declined activation as well here. Refund refused - ring cc - looks like from other comments that'll be a stuff around as well. FFS

    • Same issue, what should we do for next? The local coles store kept refusing to refund to me.

      • I'm waiting for TCN on FB to reply

        • TCN finally stopped leaving my messages on read.

Hi slimdealin, thanks for send across and appreciate your patience. Our customer service team have reviewed the receipts. They says invalid transaction. You will need to go back to Coles so they can resolve the issue unfortunately this is not something we can fix. Thanks

The $425 Coles took says otherwise. What a crock. Now waiting on Coles to get back to me.

      • I gave up, initially responsive but then left messages on read. Escalated to Coles customer service - so no quicker going directly
