15% off Nintendo eShop, TCN The Kids/Teen/Him/Her/Cinema/Pamper/Pub&Bar/Restaurant, Google Play Gift Cards @ Coles

8329

Saw this today at Coles.

15% off gift cards including Nintendo eShop, The Kids/Teen/Him/Her/Cinema/Pamper/Pub/Bar/Restaurant gift cards and Google Play gift cards ($50-100 only)
Starting 25/11 ending 1/12

UPDATE: cards not activate or not scanning/discount at checkout. Coles are pulling all cards out and refund. Some people reported some cards are fine. Wait until this is resolved. Such a shame.

UPDATE 2: some people reported that JB-Hifi has lifted the restriction on $500 max Gift card purchases, so you could try your luck. Please buy max 5 cards only and leave them for other people (including me, haha, got none so far) so everyone can have a smiling Black Friday purchases.

PARTY IS OVER. Well done to those who got the cards. Pity to the people who could not get the cards (me too, tried 5 times, gave up, friend gave me few cards). What a good deal with such a shameful operation that left many people frustrated.

    • The only place my restaurant card didn’t work was at a small cafe next to a servo in some small town during a road trip. Guess their EFTPOS terminals just didn’t register as a restaurant business.

      • oh didnt know that you eftf machine needs to be registered according to the business type….
        correct. 99.99% will work.

        • You are correct sorry guys! I used at shopping centre for sushi and macca and it worked. Might grab a couple more as xmas is around the corner and will go out more

          • +1

@fozzie: discounted food taste more yummy, right ? :)
thats why i was feeling weird why people dont want 15% off of foods ?

    • No, we got give about $300 worth of these card a few years ago. We tried at Coles/Woolies to pay for groceries. But they wouldn't work. Not sure if the new ones do, but if you expect to be able to use it at a EFTPOS machine, be careful.

      • +1

of course… not working at coles/ww
but restaurants i thinkg 99.99pct will

  • They did not mention that which colour card it should be. So might be some problem with scanning.
Because they clearly mentioned that only Teen, him and her gift cards and restaurant ans bar ones. But they did not mention that which colours.

  • +1

Not much activity on here anymore, everyone given up?

    • +4

I gave up on getting gift cards at Coles and bought Ultimate gift cards from Big W instead.

  • +2

Plenty of $100 her gift card on Coles Coburg Village (Coburg North). And tons of $50 him, her, teens, kids gift card.

  • -1

why are people buying physical when they can just buy virtual?

    • virtual gc that are 15% off? where?

      • Ahh I thought these were avialable via the coles website. I guess not.

Im really late to the party here… I wanted to buy a $2.5k fridge from JBHi FI.

        • +1

Not sure where you based? All the gift cards are out of stock in Melbourne metro but I was on a road trip to regional victoria. I managed to pick up around $3000 worths of gift cards on my return.

          • @azm: How "regional"?

            • +3

@iShibby: I managed to pick up some of the remaining cards from Bairnsdale, Traralgon, Sale, and Drouin.

              • +1

                @azm: Nice well played!

                • +1

@iShibby: Interestingly, Coles in Traralgon mentioned that they can't give 15% off due to IT issues. I pick up some of them and scanned at the check-out, it showed as 15% off. So I pick up more in the end.

          • @azm: I’m curious too!

            • @psycho06: Presumably Warragul maybe some if you are close to the area. Drouin has a couple of Nintendo cards and restaurant cards when I left.

          • @azm: Im based in SE QLD

        • Which city are you in?

          • +2

@Ash-Say: All good, I went to my local in Brisbane and got $2.4k worth. The check out girl wasn't too impressed. New fridge! Woohoo!

  • Make sure you keep all reciepts until cards show balance online. Currently one of my cards has not activated yet and it has been more than four days. Online balance it says activated, however $0 balanec. I called TCN and they said without reciept they cannot do anything about it

    • Wow that's bs sorry to hear

    • +2

You should be able to get coles to print you a receipt if you take your original card and have the date/time of the transaction

    • Is it game over for all of suburban Brisbane? Any stores in regional seq have some ?

      • Indooroopilly restocked today so others might as well

    • Yeah Coles told me if they put them through to fast they don't register, but it says it has registered.

  • I have managed to get some from Coles Evanston (SA)
Also there are heaps at Coles Gawler (SA) All in $50s
    Hope it helps someone.

  • +2

Quite late to the party, but popped into Greenacre and Chullora where there was nothing left. Decided to call it quits there as I think most places in Sydney have been wiped clean based on comments here. Saw 2 other ppl having a look as well haha

  • +6

Mount Druitt has been restocked, so get in quick :)

    https://files.ozbargain.com.au/upload/82858/84990/img_202011…

    • -1

damn it mount druitt is an hour away…….

      • +6

damn it, Mount Druitt is 13 hours away, and in another state… (:

    • There's 6 $100 remaining here, left some for you guys. A bit of 30s/50s left, didn't count

      • How did you go about buying more than 5?

        • I don't buy stacks of them (like 10 in one go), I do 5 + whatever to buy at different checkout places

        • I bought 21 gif5 cards from the regional Victoria. They had to make 3 separate transactions: 10 + 10 +1
Some store on the other hand, tried to limit at 5 cards each but many check out staff didn’t realise Coles imposted the limit and they work their way around by assigning different vendor instead of TCN on register.

      • +1

Update as of 3.09pm: someone has bought the other $100 remaining and its not me lol

  • Anyone know if there are any melbourne or regional Victoria that may have it?

    • There's not much around. Last day tomorrow so I guess that's it.

    • +1

Nintendo and restaurant cards at Drouin store. You may want to ask Warragul too.

  • Rose Bay North (NSW) have got some new stock out, Her/Teen/Kids probably about 20 of them at $30 value..

    • -3

$30 are excluded from the deal

      • +1

If you read the T&C, they actually aren’t. I bought some at 15% off.

        • (profanity) hell. Nicejuan

  • +1

PSA: IT TAKES 30MIN FOR THE VALUE TO APPEAR ON THE CARD.

    • +4

Better than the 5+ hours it was taking at the start of the deal 🙃

  • +5

Just popped by my local Coles. And at first glance only a handful of $30 kids cards were left.
After a little more perseverance, there was an white coloured stack hidden behind some other random cards.

Thanks to whoever hid about 8-10x $50 HIM cards behind another stack thinking others wouldn’t find them, or for trying to keep it for themselves.

I only bought 5, and left the remaining in plain sight for others who would want them.

    I’d call that a win-win!

I’d say for those still on the hunt that this is it… I assume there won’t be a restock before midnight tomorrow. YMMV

Also the staff clerk warned me about scams and said be careful. I said ok, I’ll be careful (:

  • If you are in Newcastle NSW Just go to Coles at Waratah, Wallsend and Fletcher lot of 50s and 30s there…..Just brought the New MacBook Air M1 for $1175
    How to get the deal?
University of South Australia 14% Apple deal
    Price match at JB HIFI
Use Him card at 15% off

    • +4

hmm…my local jb told me they have been instructed not to discount more than 10% and thus were unable to match unidays or unisa pricing…

  • Lutwyche, Brisbane, has probably has about $1500 left of $50s and 30s.

    I just grabbed $2.4k of mostly 100s and a few 50s

    • but why?

      • +3

        what do you mean why?

I can now buy a fridge that Jbhifi has for $2800 for just over $2000 by getting them to price match and with the 15% discount. So why? to save $800…

  • Since the TCN cards can only be used in store. Can you click and collect, then refund and pay using gift cards?

Do online orders have different refund process? Not process at the store?

    • Can only purchase in store

      • +1

That's I meant, click and collect using credit card. When you are there to collect, refund and re-buy using gift card in store.

But not sure if they would process refund of online orders in store, and if they can immediately sell online order stock. But since all JB HiFI are corporate owned, can't see why not but who knows.

  • disgraceful

Used 6 of my 7 $100 cards on Thursday. Waited until today to use the last one and it didn't work, that's 5 days since purchased .

Now the website to register ( and check balance ) is not working

Had to dig deep into my red bin that was out for collection in order to retrieve the proof of purchase.

Also, went to JB and had to pay unexpectedly in order to secure the purchase I wanted. It couldn't be delayed or I would miss out.

    • +1

Same issue with having to pay to secure my purchase while the cards weren't working.

Ended up getting the guys at JB to agree to refund me the next day and immediately buy it again using the now-activated gift cards. Really had to twist the managers arm on that one.

  • -4

    This just happened to me:

Went in, saw lots of cards still available, grabbed 5, paid together with my other groceries, then realised 15% discount not applied, checked with staff, got told that I bought the WRONG cards from ultimate gift cards and not TCN!! To make things worse, they can’t refund me on the spot, I’ll have to call customer support or their store manager tomorrow to sort things out.

Bloody cards from both companies look so similar, FML

    • +5

Sorry to hear but this has been discussed a thousand times in the comments. People shouldn’t be mistaking these now surely.

      • +6

For first time buyer who would’ve thought there were 2 brands and going through all the comments looking for something that you were not aware to begin with?

I blame equivocal advertising from coles and myself for not checking the final amount before paying, sigh

        • Agree it is misleading. There are quite a few people in here that bought the wrong cards, some got stuck with them I believe 😞

          • @iShibby: Wow couldn’t get a refund? I purchased via credit card and hopefully the bank can resolve the issue as a last resort if they refused to give me a refund. Don’t mind coles gift card though.

            • @tadasu: Pretty sure change of mind wouldn't be covered by bank charge back

              • -2

@redwood: It’s not change of mind, it’s misleading advertising causing customers to buy the wrong item.

                • @tadasu: NOT misleading the PICTURE is there for you to compare.

                  • +2

@fishandchips: No it’s not. The picture only includes KIDS and TEEN, not HIM or HER if you look carefully.

                    So yes, it’s misleading.

                    • +1

@tadasu: @taadasu If you actually read carefully, even in the catalogue, it says including HIM and HER.

                      • -3

@braker: What’s your point? Yes it does say including him her but doesn’t specify whether it’s TCN or Ultimate, unless you specifically read their multiple pages long T&C, which I highly doubt anyone doing their grocery shopping would do in a supermarket.

Anyway, not saying it’s entirely their fault because it’s not, it’s partly my fault for not checking the final amount before tapping my card.

      • +4

Just 986 times , not a thousand yet

    • I did the same thing with eBay 10% off Paypal egiftcards i forgot to enter the promo code for $500 worth as i sped through the checkout in excitement 10% off here i come.

Then i realised what had happened and freaked out! Contacted support then they said they couldn't apply the discount on what i have already purchased but can offer a $50 one time use voucher for next time but i decided to wear the mistake and eventually i thought i would spend that money one way or another so i declined the offer which was a costly lesson but teaches one to be more alert in future.

  • I found a few $30 left but the Coles self-service machine wouldn't let me scan more than 3 cards.
Staff said yeh there is a limit.. but since when??

    • Max is 5 per person

      • +2

I bought 9 today and the self service machine actively stops you from buying more than 3 at a time. I had to make several runs across different checkouts.

In other news, I left a few $50 cards and a stack of $30 ones behind at Whitfords, WA. Coles Hillarys, Warwick and Greenwood had none.

      • So 5 per person sounds like a magic number? Since the machine either stops you at 3 or let you bypass it across different transactions.

        • Don't know. I wonder if its been change due to the rush, because I used self service or because I bought mostly $50 cards.

    • i had 3 card limit too but the assistant allowed me 4. No idea why they could override 3 to 4 but not any more. They were not friendly at Coles

      • Very unfriendly at my local Coles they gave me the evil stare

        • Did you give it back?

  • So they took away the “go digital” section of the restaurant card. It hasn’t been working since the promotion started I think. Let’s hope they took it down to fix it.

    • +1

I managed to convert my restaurant cards at the start of the promotion but it since has been broken. I spoke to customer support who said they are working to fix it..

  • +2

Big W has the $100 ultimate HOME gift cards with bonus 2000 reward points until tomorrow. It's not 15% but at 10% discount with TGG and Freedom included is still good value. And I saw heaps of them when I was at my local bigW yesterday.

    • +2

BigW selling ultimate him/her cards 10% discount starting this wed

      • +1

        Thursday

  • How many cards can you use online/in store to order at TGG or JB?

    • Only instore and only at JB, apparently there is no limit (was $500 but no longer).

  • +1

head to surrounding rural towns if you want 15% TCN cards from Coles by today, it was how I snacked heaps of them with ease :) - the cost of driving out of city is considered as a scenic drive worth lol
for those who live in Gold Coast, head down to Ballina, Goonellabah and Lismore if you want $100 ones, they have a lot left there, some without JBHifi logo on but it’s fine as long as you get the Him, Her, Teens and Kids ($50 mostly and only I guess with these)

  • Does anyone know the Him / Her card can be used at adidas outlets and etc thanks

    • I have used mine at a Tommy outlet. Not sure about the other stores.

      • thank you !! might buy some and keep with me, too bad there is no polo as i prefer polo as to tommy

  • Does anyone know of stock in the Northern suburbs of Melbourne? I've been to three stores so far and not one card. I need to get an ipad for my daughter for high school, covid has seen us unemployed all year, so I need a cheap deal.

    • +1

get iPad 8th gen base model for $499. wish I could help but Melbourne is so far away for me

  • Surprised I found some at Coles Macquarie NSW, they only had $30 ones though

  • +5

Gonna miss this thread come tomorrow. It's been fun!

    • +2

part 2 in the big w one

      • Lol yep but 5% worse
