15% off Nintendo eShop, TCN The Kids/Teen/Him/Her/Cinema/Pamper/Pub&Bar/Restaurant, Google Play Gift Cards @ Coles

8329

Saw this today at Coles.

15% off gift cards including Nintendo eShop, The Kids/Teen/Him/Her/Cinema/Pamper/Pub/Bar/Restaurant gift cards and Google Play gift cards ($50-100 only)
Starting 25/11 ending 1/12

UPDATE: cards not activate or not scanning/discount at checkout. Coles are pulling all cards out and refund. Some people reported some cards are fine. Wait until this is resolved. Such a shame.

UPDATE 2: some people reported that JB-Hifi has lifted the restriction on $500 max Gift card purchases, so you could try your luck. Please buy max 5 cards only and leave them for other people (including me, haha, got none so far) so everyone can have a smiling Black Friday purchases.

PARTY IS OVER. Well done to those who got the cards. Pity to the people who could not get the cards (me too, tried 5 times, gave up, friend gave me few cards). What a good deal with such a shameful operation that left many people frustrated.

        • Look at the Update 2 in the post or the 1347 comments saying JB have removed the limit.

          • @iShibby: I would have thought the mods would be all over this post with the number of comments and updated it again if JB has removed the limit.

            • @bobwokeup: They have. Look at the post at the top where it's marked Update 2

              • @iShibby: Yeah I saw that but the mod post on 24/11 is after that at the end of the post so I would assume that is the latest update. I read the Update 2 as though the op updated not mods?!?

                • +2

@bobwokeup: Per my comment above, I bought a $2,700 TV with them via 54 cards. Last night the guy at the counter said he'd have to call the manager…came back later and said, "No problem".

However, one of the other girls behind the register said that they had experienced people trying to pay w/ cards that weren't active yet, so she suggested I wait at least 24-hrs after I purchased them to give them a go (Legend! Would have really sucked if we were half-way through and started hitting some unactivated cards…)

Came back today worried they wouldn't be so accepting but when I said I wanted to buy the TV with all gift cards they just asked, "Sure. How many?" When I said 54 they said, "Wow, that's a lot - we'll do it at the side counter." 10-min later I was walking out the door with the longest receipt known to man.

Team at my local JB was very cool.

    • Just bo iPhone yesterday using 35 gift cards….staff said no problem at all using gift cards…even they were saying someone used 95 cards at one go few days ago….

  • any left in south east melbourne?

  • +1

Checked 5 stores in Sydney 0 left

  • Coles Churchill 0 cards there

  • +1

    Just went to local Coles.

Have many $30 and $50 but they're refusing to sell and activate. Reason is they got directive that there's a huge scam going on in Australia through gift cards

    • +14

Biggest scam so far is Coles doesn't have sufficient stock

      • Oh well good deal for those who got the cards activated and used them.

      • Some idiots buying them in bulk. I saw someone grab them like 40-50or maybe even more from 2 racks at my local coles :(
        All i wanted was 2.

    • which coles is this

    • i think they are lying.
      theyjust sold out.
i had a few that didnt sctivate in store so some cards r dodgy and thenit can take a day to activate.

  • Fellas in my local JBHIFI treated me like a criminal. Think they got the impression I'd stolen them lol. Didn't help when the cards still didn't have the balance added to them either. Hopefully I'll be able to go back in and pick up a Switch tonight.

    • Interesting - when I went (last night, and earlier today) the cashiers had all said they had been getting them in all day today, and some sort of communication was had gone out around the company at the corporate level, so they were all aware of them.

(FYI - I've found it helps to pull the cards out of the packaging - otherwise it does look like they came straight off the shelves. Plus they take up wayyy less space.)

      • Just went in again now to see if the gift card would work and the guys in there were knew what was going on this time round. Unfortunately cards didn't work again and they said there's absolutely no possibility of giving me the same deal to tomorrow morning which is a shitter (from my knowledge there's a pretty low chance of my card getting activated today because I believe the gift card company has shut for the day). Seeing the 15% off deal would be essentially getting me the console for around $350, thinking I'm just gonna buy it for $399 in cash tonight instead. Extra $50 for around $90 dollars extra value as opposed to me price matching Kmart $399 deal tomorrow (and getting the console for $350) and not getting my Mario Kart or 3 months membership.

        • +3

Check the balances and activation status online to save going in first.

          • @Slo20: This is what i did. Just scratched one of the cards for pin and checked each hour last night. Once one activated i assumed all had been.

  • +3

And they said single-use plastic bags were bad.

  • Does TCN HOME card have 15% off ? I saw plenty off 100$ GC in Coles Norwest. They do have JB HI FI logo.

    • No.

  • +3

Bought 5 * $100 'HIM' cards 7.37am Wednesday, these declined but the money came out.

    Refund was refused.

Contacted TCN directly and was advised the transaction was invalid (according to the receipt).

    Escalated to CCS Wednesday morning.

Case still with Coles customer service, called yesterday and was advised they had passed it back to TCN to load the cards within 24 hours.

7pm Friday and I still have 5 cards with $0.

TCN messaged and asked if I had any luck with Coles - I advised that supposedly TCN were to be loading the funds - hahaha what a debacle.

    • +2

Hence why this is so risky buying thousands of dollars worth of cards ….. . what a nightmare. Hope will be resolved soon for you. You should post about this via both websites social media - they will act faster.

    • Hey - I’m a Coles employee - on your receipt did it say that the 3rd party gift card was approved or declined?

      • +1

        Declined on the receipt.

        • If that’s the case then you should’ve been refunded as it’s on the Coles end.

The only time it wouldn’t be refunded if it was approved on the receipt as it’ll be the gift card’s end not Coles.

I’d definitely go back, otherwise call Coles Customer Care and they’ll help you out further.

There have been issues all week due to the sale.

          • @themessenger: I don't mean to be impolite. Manager refused refund at the time.if you read my message I've been in contact with customer lack of service and tcn directly with no results yet. I will be calling customer lack of service again Monday and then pursuing with bank if they refuse again

            • @slimdealin: I did read your message - just reiterating what should’ve been done/how they should’ve handled it.

              • @themessenger: What should've been done and how they should've handled it is of no value right now. The manager refused the refund on the 'no refund 3rd party GC' policy and gave me the (wrong) Customer lack of service number and made it my problem. Maybe you can call the manager and advise how they should've handled it and get me a refund?

    • If the cards don't get activated properly and you aren't able to get a refund, lodge a charge-back with your credit card company. This worked for me when I was unable to get PayPal/Ticketmaster to refund some gift cards which failed to activate.

  • There doesn't appear to be any left on the rack at Belmont, WA. Just a bunch people taking the wrong 'ultimate' or 'home' cards to the checkout :((

Maybe behind the counter? I didn't ask as I didn't need any, was just hoping to help people find some.

    • I was one of those. Wanted 3 for kids Xmas presents. The ones they had weren't applying the 15%.

      • +1

Bummer. They would've made nice presents. I'm sure what you get instead will be even better! ~goodluck

        • Ill try a few more stores today

  • Are they only activating during business hours or might they activate overnight? The one card I have checked was actually showing as active but with no balance on it as soon as I bought it, I assume the wait is for TCN to assign the value to the cards and I am guessing they have probably sold something like 6 months worth in the past day or so.

    • Purchased 8 $50 cards at 6:11 pm last night. They were activated by approx 11:40pm last night. So took about 5-6 hours. Suspect its automatic, just their system catching up.

      • or it's handled offshore.. wouldn't be surprised

      • Yep purchased 3x $50 cards this afternoon at 4:15 … over four hours later still not activated. Absolutely piss poor in this day and age where technology automates most things. It shouldn't take hours to activate - it should take seconds or minutes at most.

        • Pretty sure most gift cards take a few hours to load, we generally dont ever notice as most of us never need to use them straight away. Suspect the issue is here, there are hundreds being purchased and its loading down their system with activation.

          • @hazzad: I've never had to wait this long for a gift card purchased at Coles / Woolworths to become active before. They must have pretty piss-poor ICT systems in place to trigger the activations, especially considering it is "approved" at the time of purchase. It shouldn't matter the volume of transactions - they're meant to be a professional outfit trusted by countless retailers.

            • @mrdevil: I think you need to be a be a bit more realistic. I can imagine these are selling at a very high rate. You need to remember that the funds are clearing from Coles back to TCN who then need to load each card and im sure there is a backlog with these cards being loaded with funds. At 15% coupled with Black friday sales, these are very popular. I mean i get its frustrating having to wait but most people are getting their funds loaded within 5-6 hours.

  • +1

The "Go Digital" button on official restaurant.gift website doesn't work.
Sowing "Sorry Nothing to show here. Please contact your merchant for proper URL."
So contact Coles? doesn't make sense. It's handy to use apple pay with this card.

Plenty at Busselton and Dunsborough Coles if anyone is that way. $50/$100 HIM HER..$ 30/ $50TEEN KIDS

    Cards cards cards https://imgur.com/a/B479cXv

  • Went to two coles this afternoon and both of them wouldn't scan with the discount. Burwood and world square NSW, world square had quite a few cards left too.

edit: may have picked up the wrong cards? didn't look quite like the comment above.

    • Yeah I did the same at first - they have two ranges with HIM, HER, TEEN, VARIOUS PRONOUN branding all over them … it's only the ones with the full coloured cards as shown which attract the discount… the "whiter" ones scan at full price.

    • +1

Was told at Coles WS that the cards weren’t restocked since they were first sold out!

No cards at Broadway or World Square. Pymont had Restaurant, Nintendo and Google play gift cards today morning - if anyone’s interested.

      • oops yeah realised i was looking at the wrong cards.

      • Not sure if I should thank you or see you as competition! LOL

        Have a nice weekend.

        • Guess we should work as one team. Keeping each other posted if there are any cards found :)

I’ll try picking up a card for you, if I find one 🤞

    • You picked up the wrong cards.

  • Checked 3 Coles between blacktown to Stanhope today and none had any GC's left that could warrant the 15% discount. But did find Google Play GC still available at Stanhope Gardens and plenty of Restuarant, Pub n Bar cards left, if anyone's interested!

    • My supposition is that penrith, blacktown and the south-western edge of hills shire have the highest concentration of ozbargainers.

      • Don't discount the North Shore area, there's no cards available around there too.

        • thats just bargainers from the hills driving over.

  • Is anyone can confirm that

If I purchase tv with him card but havent pickup yet
Can i cancel order ?what type of refund could I get?thanks

    • If you paid with HIM cards they will refund you with a JB gift card.

      • had been confirmed?

if so any limitations for using jb gift card?

        • I think that’s the case. Shouldn’t be a limit on using JB gift cards

  • +3

Used 18 cards at JBhifi with no issues.
The girl at the counter said that the myth about Jbhifi not accepting TCN cards is because heaps of people came in with their activated but $0 balance cards.
Since Wednesday I have been calling a few Jbhifi stores and all of they said no worries no limit whatsoever. I’m in Melbourne by the way.

    • I was at two JbHifis yesterday to checkout the model of TV I should get, when enquired with staff they told me there was no limit on using gift cards only that if the value of GC went higher than $500 that they would need said persons photo ID card to keep details, so that can be produced to authorities later on if required.

  • Having missed the start of this deal, I checked five Coles stores last night, no cards at any. Thankfully all were on my drive home, else what a waste of time.

… anyone see any on East side of Melbourne?

  • Checked Coles Amaroo (ACT) at opening this morning. No stock of the elusive cards. One of the staff members said they were waiting for new stock, but the issue is that the workers who are supposed to deliver them are on strike, so she could not guarantee when a new batch of cards would be available.

Also checked Manuka, Woden, Chisholm, Tuggeranong, Wanniassa and Jamison last night with no success.

    • I checked two days ago, no $50 left only $30, just bought 5 cards.

    • +1

Canberra always famous for OUT OF STOCK things 🤣

  • +1

i managed to pickup 11 $100 him cards this morning at coles clayton
looks like they had restocked they had quite a few of the him and hers in $50 and$100

    • Can I ask what time and how many left?

      • +1

        8.30ish
they had nearly the arm full

      • +5

None left when I got there around 930 (both Coles)… Pinewood and Glen also none…

  • hey guys saw some HIS and HER cards in different packaging $100 ones they were in a goldish colour inside a cardboard box stuck to the plastic Are these ok?

    • +2

      No those are different

    • No, not included in the current offer.

  • +1

None at Vic Gardens Richmond, vic

  • +2

Still none in belmont wa. Girl next to me did a mad dash for nothing.

  • +8

I’ve achieved my goal. I scoured the entirety of greater Sydney north south east west for dismal savings

    • you're a hero and deserves a OzMedal.

    • +1

I hope you at least covered your petrol costs.

      • No I got scammed yesterday cos I was desperate. Bought 3k savings $450 not including bartering and trading and then lost $200 to scam

        • How did you get scammed?

          • +1

@jdib: facebook marketplace, non active card.

  • -2

Plenty at my local, all scanning at full price. They said that they ran out of discounted ones because people were bulk buying them.

    • +6

Then they are the wrong cards sorry

  • I've managed to buy $1330 worth for my M1 apple air.

    • How did you get the MacBook air M1 for that price?? Jb has them for $1439

      • oops i meant to say $1330 worth of gift cards.

  • Are JB still allowing these to be redeemed for JB gift cards?

    • No idea, but the two places I called said they took away the $500 limit for HIM/HER cards

      • Cheers bud! I went in just before close and they didn’t have a problem with me changing them for a JB gift card.

  • +5

Alright, so I called like 6-7 stores and none had anymore. (Mainly northern suburbs of Melbourne like Epping)

    I was told various answers:

    1. I was told they probably wouldn't restock on these since it was only the original stock that would be discounted

    2. I was told MAYBE they restock on Monday afternoon because that is usually when restocking occurs. Others said it maybe after the promotion ends

    3. I was told they had 0 idea because it goes through a third party and they decide when to restock.

    4. They had no clue about whether or not there will be stock soon

  • +2

Just used my 20 for a iPhone mini. Lucky I had all the pin scratched. Was standing there 5 min swiping each card

  • +7

PSA, there's no reason to come running (literally) into the store as soon as the doors open each day. Gift cards don't arrive overnight (at least at our store and most of the stores I know of) so what is there on close will be the same as on open. It's been our morning spectacle each day this week.

    • Do you know how often these get restocked if at all?

      • +1

I'm not sure, we don't sell many at my store usually so we rarely get deliveries

        • Ugh no idea why I'm listed as an associate, I'm not claiming to represent the company here

          • +1

@Levathian: Because you work for Coles. It's a rule that you must mark yourself as Associated, even if you're not an authorised representative of the retailer you work for.

            • @kerfuffle: Huh, damn, I won't comment any further in this thread then. I barely know anything more than the public and can only comment on what we've seen.

              • @Levathian: But you still work for Coles and therefore must declare that (or mark yourself as Associated when commenting on any posts relating to Coles), as per OzBargain rules.

              • +1

@Levathian: probably best not to post about anything related to your employer unless they've asked you to, no good will come of it.
