Historical low for Machi Koro 5th Anniversary edition (if you have prime and meet the $49 spend for free delivery), courtesy of board game oracle

To help you make up to $49, consider:

Forbidden sky is available for $17.90 - also appears to be a historical low. Cheapest local appear to be $40+

Forbidden island: $21.24, not a historical low but around $8 cheaper than best local price right now.

  • Great price for Forbidden Sky - I wonder if it's a pricing error.

    • +1

Not a pricing error. Amazon US has some nice board game deals, especially before/during holiday periods.

forbitten sky $56+ now.. would be pricing error

    • Need to choose Amazon US for cheaper price.

    • You need to select the correct vendor as Amazon US rather than Amazon AU for the listed pricing.

      • +1

Still comes up like $41 choosing US vendor

There's quite a few decent board game deals from Amazon US today. Just to name a few more-

Lost Cities is only $15.91 and a great card game for 2 Players. Couples tend to really like this one.

The Crew: The Quest for Planet Nine is $15.91 and a unique trick taking cooperative card game. You don't get quite the same experience with 2 players vs 3-4 but it's still good.

Kingdomino is $19.48 today and pretty safe bet as a first board game purchase that involves laying tiles to get the most points at the end.

Decrypto is $22.06 and a brilliantly clever party game involving code cracking and word hints.

    • Are there any boardgames for one player aka those who have no friends?

Pandemic legacy works great as a single player game.

      • Robinson Crusoe: Adventures on the Cursed Island. The only one of my many board games that I actually break out when I'm all alone.

      • Slap The Butcher is a good one player game.

      • +1

Or even regular Pandemic. I saved Legacy to play with others, but the other Pandemics I sometimes play alone.

The board game geek community says the Forbidden games can be played as single player too.

        Terraforming Mars

This search is for games where the box includes 1 player, but cooperative games can sometimes be played single player as well:

        Single player games

        • Ive played Forbidden Island solo once or twice. Not really much fun cooperating with yourself though

          • @cannedhams: Some games without any hidden information you can compete against yourself if that works better for you. I usually just do it when I'm learning games that so I can teach them to someone else later.

Uuu lost cities looks great. New girlfriend loves board games, and realised my entire collection are all 3+. This looks like a good place to start. Now I need $6 more for free delivery lol

Love lost cities, great intro for non-gamers. It's a very simple game on the surface but there's a fair bit of tension going on.

    • +1

Lost cities back to $31.30 :(

  • Thanks OP and materix01 - snagged a few of these.

Could anyone who has played the forbidden games chime in

does forbidden sky play differently to forbidden desert/ island

asking because if it is pretty much the same game (with slight variations/ different skins) then I would not be purchasing it

Also BGG has Forbidden Desert at 82 among family games and Forbidden Sky at 533
    Maybe people had forbidden fatigue?

    • It's pretty diff but I like the other 2 more.

      • thanks

  • Can also consider adding Jaipur $30.56

Reviews are saying this listing is the italian version? So just be careful

      • Wow okay you might be right!

        • It says it is in Italian under the "Technical Details" section.
          "Language: Italian"

          • @matt881: as long as you have an English rule book you should be fine

  • I never liked Machi Koro.

  • Great game for the price, would get it if I didn't have it already.

Great price for machi koro but the game is legitimately broken….too easy to stack certain cards and win every time

    • +3

I find the expansions really help with that.

Also, we're playing the Legacy version now, and it's really well balanced so far. Well worth checking out if you like MK.

      • The expansions are totally worth it to make the game more balanced but if you dont want to buy the expansions the 5/5/2 variant helps balancing things too

  • Need something priced $25 to make up the purchase.

      May I suggest Santorini
      around $30
      it is an abstract game
      rank on BGG
