So is this a total discount of $9 if we buy $100 gift card?

    • Yeah it'd be good to confirm this - I'm reading it as between 3-5%, then $5 cashback from Cashrewards afterwards?

      • +3

normally it's like that, the bonus cb is provided after the fact

      • +6

Yep, that's the deal. Instant 3-5% discount depending on the card you buy with another $5 to come later.

  • +10

I still haven't received the previous $5.00 cashback from the previous deal.

    • Is it pending though?

      • +11

I was told by TA (in previous deal) that the $5 doesn't show within ones CR account (pending or otherwise) and that only the purchase of the gift card purchase shows.
In turn there is no visual way of knowing about the $5 special unless one keeps a record to checks back on CR after due date and whether it was added. Thats my understanding and happy to be corrected.

    • +5

by memory, none of the cashback were being paid before late Dec/Jan

    • Same as always

      • +15

        @HardcoreDBZ

I still haven't received the previous $5.00 cashback from the previous deal.

That's correct, you wouldn't have. Please read the terms for each bonus offer. The bonus for the previous deal is not due to be paid until 16/01/21 (see 4th dot point in bold). This new one will appear on or before 30/11/20. Thank you.

        • +2

Why such long delays? Using BWS for example…you buy something from BWS purely because of the cashback price. Then 60 days later it might not clear. Can't be that hard to create a trigger that occurs when the customer collects, and another receipt trigger/ reversal if they return something.

How long do we have to collect something once ordered? Again, using BWS as an example, will BWS hold the order for 60 days (which is when the sale really finalises)?

          • +3

@tunzafun001: I thought the time periods were set by the referral networks themselves and not just a random number picked by cashrewards.

            • +1

@OzzyBrak: No doubt that is the case. But I think the time periods need to be linked with the collection time. I have no doubt these extended times are created so that the majority will forget, and or have no recourse once the time has past. The only way that will change is if we vote with our feet and then Cash Rewards can put pressure on the retailers to speed it up.

Flybuys points is another classic example of these (hopefully you just forget about it models). In the last year I recon I had to follow up probably 70% of the promotions where I made purchases solely based on the promotion, that weren't full filled. It's not really good enough.

In fairness, Cashrewards as a general rule do a pretty good job (not 100%, but pretty good), the retailers need a foot to the date.

  • "Bonus is over and above the advertised 'up to' 5% discount which still applies to the transaction."

  • +1

$100 face value = you pay only $96 for a Woolies card but still get the $5 cashback??

    • +8

      That's the Deal!

      • that was my understanding but last deal was "spend" $5 to get $5 so if you'd buy only a $5 face value you'd get zilch cashback!

        • Just buy $104.2 to be safe, what difference does it make?

        • +3

$100 face value = No calculations needed this time.

After activating, click on woolies gift card link in activation, click on the card of choice, click $100 & buy.

  • +3

    Done - Thanks TA👍

    • +1

      Well done!

      • Don't raise your glass too soon

        • I say be positive! 🥂

  • +1

Can Big W giftcard still be used in Woolies store?

    • No but I want the extra $1 going for that one :)

    • +1

No, they've split them. Also why there are different discount rates on different cards. Most flexible = lowest discount and vice versa.

      • I get the feeling they are phasing out the wish cross utilized one totally so it will be easier for them to sell of business units.

      • Hmm interesting. I did use a woolies GC in big W yesterday. Might not work the other way around.

        • Hmm, now that is interesting. Maybe you can go one way, but not the other? Maybe the systems haven't quite caught up yet?

I've migrated to solely getting Woolworths Store cards at 4% discount on the expectation I can only use them at the supermarket, but obviously would be happy to take 4% at Big W (and others?) if that's going to be possible.

    • +3

Just to let you know that to try out I did buy $5 big W egift card from suncorp app 2 weeks back and used it successfully in woolworths last week.

    • Can confirm I've been able to load up my woolies online account with Big W GCs bought from the last few 5% promos. Whether I can checkout I'm gonna check now before committing to buying $100 ones. Anybody else can confirm they work?

      • +1

BIG W Store eGC definitely does not work at Woolies Instore any more. Today I used one and POS machine says "Card rejected, Card unknown". And I had to turn to a staff member to get over it.

        • Yeah checked on woolies website that day and didn't work at checkout

  • +1

time to prepay even more even though i've prepaid over 6 month already hehe

  • +2

Anyone have the issue like me that sometime cashrewards doesn't track your purchases hence you don't get the bonus? I always activated the offer, then purchase something on the same windows, but still doesn't get recorded on my purchases. It's getting harder to track which purchase and when I should get the bonus if I have to track it manually and submit a claim every time.

    • +1

Yeap. 100% failures with BWS purchases and no idea why as I use same method as I do with e.g. Dans direct, Giftcards etc which are always fine and always track.
For me it's so much effort to then collate everything (The original deal, proof of purchase, then also having to note the "extra" $5 included part and then submit an email to CR, I just don't bother anymore, way way too much work. The exception would be the likes of a 20%-25% off BWS deals then I do send through.

      • +5

100% failures with BWS purchases and no idea why as I use same method as I do with e.g. Dans direct Giftcards

Are you aware you can't use gift cards as payment with BWS and get cashback? Please always read merchant terms prior to purchase.

        https://www.cashrewards.com.au/bws

BWS online orders paid partially or in full with any gift cards will be ineligible for cashback.

        • Oh bloody hell. I forgot about that. How do I go back in time and change it?

        • -1

@TA: Yeap all good, I know this hence always check out and pay using Credit Card. Regardless my point related to the actual tracking of initial sale at all.

        • I have recently submitted a BWS related claim (when it was 20% CB) where my visit to BWS was tracked in click history however transaction (being the Cashback not). In the claim I had combined with activating the $5 bonus prior to doing the BWS transaction in app. Generally on previous occasions it was easy just to report the missing "expected" cash back; however this time went with adding the bonus on top of the cash back estimate and providing the breakdown in the commentary with screenshots of the order and rep's OzB deal and screenshot of bonus activation. Lastly no, I didn't use any giftcards for payment. My issue is that without the transaction being tracked - how would the $5 bonus be triggered? Waiting to see how the claim will be handled. i.e. Cash back and $5 Bonus.

          • +1

@nutcracker007: Ditto. Same issue here. Time will tell how it is handled. It is more a pain/complication when reporting a missing claim with these i.e. with the extra $5 Bonus to also be applied on top. One needs to ensure one has the "Your Bonus has been Activated" proof as well as nothing is noted on ones account.

      • +1

I made a boo boo paying BWS with giftcard during the 25% cash back promo. Poor habit of mine

        • +4

Always read the T&Cs. Assumption is the mother of all far cups.

          • @Vortex99: Nope. Not assumption. It was reflex.

Like buying a wish gift card with 3% discount as opposed to WW gift card at 4%

  • Can we use BigW gift cards to buy other Wish gift cards? Hmm

EDIT: Answered my own question. Answer is no :(

    Thanks TA

  • Done. Thank you. How does everyone keep a track of these purchases to check in Nov if cashback has been received?

    • +11

Set up a reminder with the button at the top of this post :)

      • +1

        That's amazing thank you.

      • +3

It's the easiest way. Then we have the details of the offer & can click through to our account in 1 place. Been doing this for ages.

    • +1

You could set a reminder on this post for 30 November, then you will get a notification from OzBargain reminding you to check.

      • That's amazing thank you.

        • +5

Another Method: I tend to use the receipt for the purchase as a tracker.

Method: I forward it to (but not send anywhere) as it then gets placed in Draft emails. This allows one to add more info to the email.
          - I copy the URL to the CR deal.
          - I change the subject to whatever it is being tracked, due date and amount.
          - I then move the email to a Folder I have called "Tracking"
          - I apply a calendar reminder to it for a week after due date.

Why bother: Well if something doesn't track, at least one now has all the details relating to it on hand within the email and get a pop up reminder. I have had to use several times in the past, Creating above only takes a minute to do this but saves a bucket load of time if one needs to submit a request.

      • Done :) thanks @powerhammer

  • Last few days to get discounted WW giftcard from cashrewards!!

    • +7

And last day to get this bonus $5!
The end of an era on Ozbargain.

  • +1

    Thanks TA

  • -2

Is the discount on the WW gift cards 3%? Does anyone know which value gains you 5%?

    • read the OP. pretty clear what % are available.

      • sorry and thank you!

    • Literally listed on the post

    • +1

The website sucks. I selected 4% woolworths card with amount, then i wanted to change the amount and clicked back to alter the amount, then I went and purchased 3% wish card by mistake.

      • same

  • +4

thx mate. free money is good money!

  • Sorry! We can't seem to process your payment at this time
    Please try again later.

    Refresh page

For me Woolies GC only via Shopback works.. Lol has been like this for a year now

  • Are these gift card discounts leaving everywhere or just cashrewards?

  • +17

This slow death of WW Gift Cards discount…. is like watching the titanic movie in slow motion. Tightarse provides a lifeboat of $5 right near the end but in the end the ship still sinks.

  • +6

thanks TA. has been good while it lasted. our family has been tracking all your WW offers for the last 1.5 years religiously. good work mate!! cheers

  • +2

Buy as soon as you see this post. Do not put it off until later tonight just because it says its valid till midnight. The site will be flooded and crash.

    • Last time it crashed from 8.30 pm. I know I was there trying to purchase for over 1 hour without success.

  • +1

    Thanks TA.

  • +2

Bought one, thanks for the $5 Tightarse. Went with the 3% Wish for the fuel option.

  • Anyone know if the Woolworths gift cards still work at Woolworths Caltex petrol stations? I know they used to.

    • Was wondering the same thing. They don't have a dedicated one for petrol so maybe it's only the 3%?

    • Wish e-gift card @3%

    • +2

according to their website T&C's https://giftcards.woolworths.com.au/giftCardApp#/where-to-sp… it's a yes for petrol. I have used these myself at WW's petrol. In SA if you're with the RAA you get a 5% discount on WW's wishcards with no minimum limit. I never leave home without one.

EDIT - I'm in no way affiliated with the RAA except as a very happy customer/member.

      • Interesting link. That shows that Woolworths cards are basically accepted like Wish cards. Ie. Dans/ BWS/ Petrol/ Big W all say Woolworths cards are accepted!

        • "Woolworth Shopping Cards" and "Woolworth (Store e-)Gift Cards" are not the same thing I guess?
not sure what they are though….

btw.. just noticed that BWS also accepts Dan's GCs but not vice-versa, interesting…

    • +3

No. I tried one yesterday at Woolies Caltex. Doesnt work. Only WISH works

      • See link above, or is there 'Woolworths petrol' and 'Woolworth Caltex petrol'?

      • But "Woolworths Shopping Cards" should've worked?

Participating Caltex Woolworths stores will accept:

        WISH eGift Cards
        WISH Gift Cards
        Essentials Cards
        Woolworths Shopping Cards
        Caltex Woolworths Petrol Gift Cards
The card with heart WISH Gift Card

        • +1

Except that Woolworths Shopping Cards are ont the same as Woolworths Store eGift Cards. If you look under Woolworths store here (https://giftcards.woolworths.com.au/giftCardApp#/where-to-sp…) it lists both indicating that they are 2 different things.

          Woolworths Shopping Cards
          Woolworths Gift Cards
          Woolworths Store eGift Cards

    • I would hope that the Woolworths (supermarket) one works as they are branded as Woolworths. Gotta give it a try next time I have to fill up.

  • +1

    Cheers dude.

  • Can the big w egift be used on big w website or is it only instore.

When I try to buy something there is only a section with wish gift cards.

Don't want to risk buying one and then cant order something online.

  • Why not working on deals for Coles gift card?

    • +4

Why not working on deals for Coles gift card?

      ??

Coles only accept ikea gift cards. And ikea will only accept iTunes gift cards, to pay the ATO.

  • +1

Thanks TA. Does Cashrewards make any money on these deals?

    • I think they'll make big money when they float on the stockmarket!

      • How about share options instead of cash back, then!

    • 0.2%

  • Does anyone else have problems today adding Gift cards (specifically Woolworths gift card) to the Woolworths money app?

Keeps saying invalid gift card # but I can check the balance of the same card # online.

    Nevermind, started working…

  • +1

    Purchase $100. Thanks.

  • +1

    Thanks TA!

  • Done, thanks!

  • +1

    Got a Big W giftcard.
