Not as good as the $1142 deal from the Lenovo Education Store a couple of weeks ago, but fairly nice pricing. Will snap one up myself as my 4500u/8gb is a dud with sleep and webcam issues, that Lenovo is playing hardball about getting repaired.

Try your luck with AMEX card like others have with the previous S540 deals.

Lenovo laptop deal that isn't posted by tightarse. What is the world coming to?

    • I think there's a bunch of us circling like vultures with these S540 deals. Whether we have bought the laptops, or are waiting for them to be delivered haha.

Can confirn delivery time is 3weeks …
Ordered on 3rd Nov … Shipped on 11th Nov … As of now, its left China and expected delivery is 19th Nov.

Chat with Lenovo to make it 1142 or call 13 Lenovo … for sure they will give quote for 1142 … keep insisting …

    • Tried twice over chat and they wouldn't budge :(. Will keep trying.

Am a bit hesitant though cos of the price drops in the last couple of months. Have a feeling both the cheaper and this model will have further price cuts :/

      • I also bought this laptop. Price may go down further, if its not shipped you can always cancel existing order and order again

      • Based on the fact that they take it off the website on 11.11 deals, i highly doubt that it will fall below 1142 in near future.

        • they asked for Edu email address when i asked for the 1142 price, which i don't have. only have the generic login to access the deals, that was provided last time the deal went up for the 1142 price.

that is a fair point about the price dropping, just gives me pause as it dropped by $300 for the 4600u model and say a $100 for the 4800u model. won't see any bigger price drops fingers crossed.

@adrianhughes1998: i don't have edu id aswell … assessed from generic login … they asked for edu id … i told i ain't a student but want this price … they gave me … indeed i took quote for 1142 03 times … 1st time on Chat and ordered, but agent placed order over ph so i was unable to use shopback … next day did chat again and asked for quote … got quote again but was unable to convert to order … next day called 13 Lenovo and got quote again … 3 times in total …
Call Lenovo tomorrow, can give my order #, if that helps.

            • @ChipsChicky: thanks mate appreciate your help, if you can please give the order number so they will give me the deal. but will try what you have said in order to get the 1142.

  • Any good deals for an ideapad with 15" and 16gb.

Love the look of the narrower bezels as opposed to the thinkpads

Lenovo is playing hardball about getting repaired.

Uh I hate companies that do this. My Dell is a lemon, but at least they're super chilled about just replacing the device no stress.

That's good aye and glad it's gonna be repaired. Yeah I had heard Lenovo was crap with support but wasn't expecting this.

First they do two different phone calls remoteing in to fix, then run a diagnostic report to email to them. Still nothing. Then they reply saying send videos of the issue. Still nothing. I had paid extra for on site repairs but they reckon that even though they believe it's a hardware problem, they can't come out to try and fix it - because it would happen again and again.

Been two weeks now since last emails and calls, and still waiting. Even though second last rep on phone says it will need to be sent off for repair. Absolute joke.

I had a Lenovo Yoga repaired one year into its two year warranty due to not holding charge in the past. No issues with getting it repaired on my side, so far my experience has been good.

      • Thinkbook 13s AMD will be available in near future ?

        • Looks like only North America at the moment for the AMD version. Only the 14 and 15 G2 seem to be making it over to ANZ.

my Lenovo e585 died even though only had depot warranty, they sent a repair person to my home to repair it after asking me to run a checklist. He replaced the motherboard. Happy with the outcome.

    • Double comment

    • good stuff, glad they did. guess it varies on individuals, but hoping for a good outcome with mine.

Pretty sure this the regular price now, they dropped it to this about a month after it first came out on store. I would hazard a guess that it will be cheaper on Black Friday, but definitely not more expensive.
Great laptop though, amazing value either way.

  • Good to see they seem to be able to keep getting it back in stock pretty quickly. I will wait see for Black Friday if I can't get $1142 via chat.

  • I so want this lap top!

You can get the lower spec'd 4600u for $1049 as well: https://www.lenovo.com/au/en/laptops/ideapad/ideapad-s-serie…

    • Thanks, yes I did see the 4600u, will wait and see if the 4800u comes down (I don't have a student email :( If I could get it at the student price I would snap it up :)

  • can anyone confirm if elan touchpad or virtual scroll is working on this model ?
