  • Code not working for BH088 for me

    • Sorry, my mistake. try code EWULY7X4

      • This the new BH085 or the old model BH085?

Looks like the new version (with Aptx) but Sunvalley told me it also had Hybrid NC??

As per usual request, are Australians worthy yet of the BH055s (definitely with APTX and Hybrid NC), or are they still for the rest of the world only :( ?

        • aptX yes, hybrid no. As far as I am aware the US ones are the same as the OZ ones.

If you want hybrid you would need to look at the BH090s or BH046

          • @xev: I really want the BH055's (as has hybrid AND Aptx), which are for sale via TT/ Sunvalley direct…BUT…they only ship to the US etc. I don't get it?

            See here: https://www.taotronics.com/products/tt-bh055-hybrid-anc-head….

When I emailed TT, they said Australia will be getting the new BH085s in October with Aptx / Hybrid NC, but the BH055 will not be available to Australians?

  • +4

I have BH085s. Bought about 6 months ago. Have reviewed on earlier threads and find them light and comfortable for hours in lounge for situations such as youtube on TV etc. Maybe BH046s I also have are better for sound, but these are less hot over extended period. ANC is pretty good, overcome sound of snoring partner.
They have a great set of swivels and adjust well to my head, which I believe is average sized.
BTW Sunvalley are great to deal with.

    • +1

Are you wearing glasses while using it for hours?

      • +1

I wear glasses if I need to see something on the TV (connected HDMI to my lounge PC).
I find them no problem. But I have several pairs of glasses and find certain shapes work better than others. Some glasses/headphone combination can feel like clamps against my head.
BTW I am a dad, thus I am free to wear spectacles based on comfort and function, not fashion.

        • +1

I ask because I had a bad experience with headphone while I need to wear my only pair of spectacles and find even with $300 pair of headphone I can't wear for more than a couple hours.

I am still looking for one which can wear for a long duration.

          • +2

@SnoozeAndLose: I find the BH85s to have comparatively low clamping force, this probably compromises their sound quality and consequently their ANC ability.
To me, they stay cooler than the BH46 which have better sound and ANC, from soft and deep cushions, which give better isolation and hence acoustics. The BH60's which my daughter occasionally uses have firmer cushions, so I find these are also better with glasses.
All of these are compromises, I trade off some acoustics for comfort and dad-dagginess with specs from Specsavers. I can't tolerate in-ear phones, they really hurt my ears.

  • Could you do anything for the TT-BH094? They were $59 three days ago and now $64 with the 15% coupon…

    • +3

I can't tonight but I'll see if I can arrange for next week.

  • So what's the difference between BH085 and BH090?

    • 90 have better noise cancelling but can only pair with one device at a time iirc

  • +1

Can anyone comment on the BH088 v BH079?

I've bought a number of TT products over the years and always been really impressed until I gave the BH079s a go earlier this week. I found the BH079s were crackly to listen to and that people I was calling could only hear every second word I was saying. Given the quality of the other TT products I've got, I'm not sure if I got one dodgy set of 079s or if it's a problem with that model more broadly.

I'm looking for something to pair with my laptop while WFH and making Zoom/Teams calls. I'm looking for something that while WFH that won't pick up the noise from the kids playing noisily or having meltdowns in the next room. The microphone in my webcam seems to pick it all up for my colleagues to hear. I've sent the 79s back. Are the 88s worth a try? If not, are there other options that people are finding suitable for this sort of use case?

  • TaoTronics TT-BH088 TWS True-Wireless Earbuds - how about for calls any one tried ?

  • +2

I have the BH085 and they're great. I love that they connect to multiple devices, use USB-C, also they have great audio latency, I can actually use them for gaming. I don't think any of those are true for the BH090, so for me the cheaper BH085 actually seems better

Sound quality is fine, they're comfortable, ANC is decent. Nothing much to complain about really. Only thing would be the damn LED light that flashes when the headphones are on is way too bright.

  • +5

    .
I got these TT-BH085 in August here for $75 and they're quite good also have the Sony WH-1000XM4B and believe it or not prefer the TT-BH085 as they are lighter !!
but I mostly listen to audio books when I go for a walk and use the Sony at home for music Sony have weird swipe controls that I'm not a fan of (the Sony WH-1000XM4B cost $429)

  • Can ANC be turned off? On some occasions, I would like to use it connected to my camera to monitor the mic levels.

    • Yes, it has an ANC on/off button

  • +1

Reviews seem great, but does anyone have a comparison with the sony/bose ones we always see for $300+? Big price difference!

  • I really like my BH085s….but a question for the rep here (or anyone else for that matter). My BH085s have frozen. They have frozen "on", and I cannot pair with anything and cannot turn them off. They are just sitting there on. Is there a hard reset combination of buttons or do I just wait for battery to run out? I tried different combos and searching but could only find for other brands.

    • Hi summit, try inserting a 3.5mm jack such as on the included cable. I found that seems to disable the wireless function and restore button functionality once the jack is removed.

      • Thanks good idea but no luck restoring button functionality unfortunately. But it does allow me to at least I can use them until the battery runs out. Will leave it going all day/night until they die and see how we go. Damn these headphones and their long battery life!

        • Been there. I drained the batteries in mine with noise cancelling. No dice. TaoTronics cs was superb though.

Shame. I really like 085. Anything similar from AT/Senn can do multiple bt connection and aptxhd?

          • +1

@Fullhalter: Just for anyone that reads this in future, I plugged in the 3.5mm cable to drain the battery (listening to music) and after recharging them the headphones are working fine again.

            • @summit: Lucky. Alas, no such luck here. Mine got stuck on off, despite working noise canceling. I even took them apart and desoldered the battery, no dice. Noise cancelling side of things (L side) works, but the bluetooth receiver side (R side) just won't turn on. CS was great with warranty though. Pro tip: Jot down the serial number before it rubs off!

  • These look good but there seems to be a recent 'batch' issue when we sort the reviews by most recent:

1.0 out of 5 stars Can't turn it on after a month
Reviewed in Australia on 7 November 2020

They stopped working after a month. Couldn't turn it on. I tried multiple chargers but still can't get it to turn on.

1.0 out of 5 stars Product self-destructs after a couple of months
Reviewed in Australia on 6 November 2020
    Verified Purchase
Product has stopped working after less than 3 months. Headphones can charge up, but the power button doesn't work anymore and they do not turn on. Complete waste of money and a terrible purchase. One month return period shows that this is not a once-off issue.

1.0 out of 5 stars Not working any more
Reviewed in Australia on 3 November 2020
    Verified Purchase
I like the product until it stopped working couple of days before, unable to power on any more. Tried recharging, the blue button for Noise cancellation is working but unable to power-on using the centre button any more.

1.0 out of 5 stars Bargain headphones
Reviewed in Australia on 31 October 2020

There was a quiet buzzing during noice cancellation, however other than that all other aspects where exceptional and worked extremely well. Definitely a bargain for its price.

And that is just from the first batch of 10 most recent reviews. It seems you have a bad batch on your hands so what sort of assurances can you offer customers of product quality and warranty concerns?

    • +1

Thank you for pointing this out, I will bring this to SunValleys attention.

They are covered by a total 2.5 years warranty so if there are any issues they can be easily sorted out.

  • +1

I missed the deal on these headphones on Prime Day (picked them up this time) but instead did extensive research on them. There is an opinion out there that the 85's have a slight superior sound and comfort over the 90s however the 90s have better ANC performance. For reference, here is a review comparing the 85s to the 90s.
