Also, I've been deciding between this and the $99 Amazon Echo Dot with Clock (4th gen). This has a USB port for charging devices (not fast charging) a pretty nifty LED night light and a full clock face show also shows weather. The Echo Dot with Clock (4th gen) is smaller with slightly better bass. The reviews don't speak highly of either speakers tho.
For me I agree, for my kids I don't want them to have another screen to watch YouTube on when they are meant to be sleeping.
you cannot stream on the device (No YouTube, Netflix), just a colour screen to use basic apps like timer, home devices, view photo albums)
Initially that was true, they "updated" them about a year ago to allow YouTube streaming. I learnt of this update when I found my daughter streaming YouTube at 1am one night. You can disable it in Home settings, but the clock appears to ignore the setting a lot.

Main issue is that if there's an issue with wifi connectivity alarm does not work. I have one, not reliable at all.
