Surgrical face masks
Nope.
It's an Indian version https://www.indiamart.com/craftcreature/surgrical.html
literally says on the ebay ad this product is a non medical device. so how is it a surgical mask?
great for nail salons?Haha you keep saying nail salon. But if I worked at one of those places, I'd want a solvent and chemical respirator! Apparently huffing solvents isn't good for you…unless you are paid in a nail salon =p
aw shucks, someone noticed. lol.
because it's a surgrical mask, not surgical mask.
you can safely use for surgrical.touche
Trying to find the country of origin on these.. It is so hard.
"Non-sterile masks are ordinary dust masks, which are generally not effective in isolating bacteria and viruses. They are only suitable for general smog days, dust and wind protection."
Isn't it surgical masks are suppose to be "sterile"?
I wonder why is this count as surgical mask.
I can't see any surgical/surgrical mention in the ebay description (aka "discription" on the seller's page), OP upselling in OzB :/
ebay seller does have medical surgical mask but $61.95 for 50 https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Zogear-50-PC-Disposable-Protecti…
Agree, description is misleading. These are basically dust masks, although IF they do have 3 layers including a melt-blown layer, they would be suitable for public social distancing use. Surgical masks MUST be registered on the ARTG.
TGA states this after reviewing the mask situation in Au:
Face masks for use in the community
There has been a significant increase in the domestic manufacture of reusable cloth masks and single-use face masks intended to be used by the general public when social distancing is not possible. These types of face masks are not intended for use in a clinical setting or explicitly to prevent the transmission of disease between persons and therefore are not subject to the same regulations as surgical masks or some respirators. This type of reusable cloth mask or single-use mask can be manufactured and supplied without needing to be included in the ARTG.
However, these masks must not be advertised or labelled in a way that indicates the mask prevents the spread of disease between people, or for the use in healthcare (including aged care) settings. Instead, manufacturers could clearly indicate the mask is designed to be used by the public when social distancing is difficult or for general activity.
Happy to remove the neg when OP amends the description although there appears to be similar masks available cheaper atm.
So to conclude, its okay to use this mask and wear it outside for grocery or walk in the park?
@froddoog: Probably, but if you live in an area where covid is active then you might want to check the validity of the melt-blown layer claims with water and flame - if you're concerned:

@[Deactivated]: I've seen some official claim that these "fire/flame test" claim is definitely incorrect
@davidl2: I'd be very interested in reading about it David. Got a link? Hard to believe that anyone would dispute the fact that melt-blown fabric doesn't burn like tissue in "fake" masks - which is clearly shown to be the case in many online videos. The tests are self-explanatory, as are the differences between "fake" masks and others. Anecdotally any mask is better than none - supposedly.

if you could read their language, PM me! Otherwise there's no point sharing picture with foreign languages here!
While everyone were busy stocking up on toilet paper, these guys were busy piling up masks.
