Hi Guys and Girls,

I was looking for a Standing Desk and I came across this deal in Groupon. This is FRAME ONLY and you need to purchase a table top to go on top of this frame.
Only the Model 4 is available (the rest sold out) and for BLACK is $339; other colors (white and Grey) are $369. It is 125KG weight rated and accept up to 2m in length tabletop size.
The Full Spec are listed below.

I am thinking to use this frame with Bunning Acacia Solid Oiled Hardwood Project Panel cost $99 (You need to DIY/Cut the panel to the correct length)- Link to Bunning for this solid hardwood tabletop.
https://www.bunnings.com.au/2200-x-600-x-26mm-acacia-solid-o…

Here are a full list of other size and color panels that Bunning sell and don't forget to search Ikea if you after something deeper.
https://www.bunnings.com.au/our-range/building-hardware/timb…

So my total cost of the project is:
Frame - $339
Tabletop- $99
Hardwax Oil - $10
Total - $448

The Hardwax oil is brush on and wipe off using a cloth and this is to treat the cut edge of the timber. You can buy this from Bunning.
https://www.bunnings.com.au/search/products?page=1&q=HardWax…

This motorize table frame I suspect is Artiss branding as all the information and pictures look exactly the same as the amazon listing. I am not 100% confirm it is going to be Artiss brand until I receive the product. You can check out the Artiss amazon listing here-
https://www.amazon.com.au/Artiss-Motorised-Adjustable-Operat…

Also if you need a computer/PC holder to mount your PC to the table this is not a bad buy if you are a amazon prime member.

Don't forget the 5% cashback from cashback (I think) as well.

EDITED- UPDATE:
It is Artiss Brand. As I just received the product (via Budget hire van on Saturday 7:35pm for some weir reason) 07 Nov 20- 4 days from the day I ordered.
Also the warranty is 12 months replied directly from Groupon. Everything so far look ok.

EDITED- UPDATE 2:
23 Nov 20- Got an email from Groupon regarding the shipping of the wrong model (HASD-240-BK). They offered me a $95 refund for the 2 of the table lift. So after the discount of $45 per item my total price to each table lift is $294 + Shipping.
Quote from the Groupon email:
"We would like to offer a $95 partial refund as compensation to keep both items in their current state."
I end up accepting the offer of partial refund; let hope that the smaller weight limit and smaller length different wont have an effect on the motor life.

    • Is it sturdy? Do you have a lot on your desk?

      Lastly, are the motors loud?

      • Moters arent loud (well they are what I expect them to sound like?)

I have a 27" and a 24" monitor with arms, 2 speakers and a heavy af keyboard, laptop, dac, amp. No issues on weight.

Sturdy is a weird thing. I dont have alot to compare against, and mine is in the corner of the room but yes its fine/good.

  • Paid $251.50 delivered to metro Sydney for model 1 from Groupon in June.

  • Anyone know where I can get a 1400-1500mm length dark wooden tabletop for these legs. Don't have the tools to be cutting a table out otherwise I would definitely give it a go

    • Ikea sell tabletops. You can even buy individual components from wardrobes etc and use them.

Or go to a disposals place and get an old solid core door

    • I'm the same boat - was thinking an Ikea desk top lol

  • Thanks, ops, for the under-desk case storage, I was looking for something like that for my PC
I got this from Ikea and I absolutely love the desk, not as cheap as this deal, just RRP

    https://www.ikea.com/au/en/p/idasen-desk-sit-stand-black-dar…

  • I bought a sit stand desk in June from ikea (idasen). Even though I paid $799 for it, it’s the best desk I have owned. Back problem/sciatica gone.

    • yeah, feel the same way, this deal is good for those who want to put it together with different parts
      price gone up $50? I remembered I paid $750

      • Actually, you are right. I got the larger desk and paid $749. It looks to have gone up to $799 now.

  • omg, thankyou, been looking out for one of these at a decent price for a while now

  • +2

Don't be fooled by the RRP of these desk frames. What I can say is that I owe 2 of the Dual Motor model frames and installed my own top on both. It's a good product and well worth the $370 each that I paid for it eBay. I remember doing my research and that was a good price for dual motor model. However you can normally get them in the high 300 and low 400 pretty much at any time. Good deal nonetheless.

    • are you able to confirm any wobbliness (if any at all) please? I'm looking to put 2 monitors and my book collection at the other length of the desk

      • +2

The frame itself is very solid. The top will only be as solid as what you put on it. From what I recall the fixings that came with the frame to fix the top with we're good quality.

No wobble on my desk. If there is any it's from the uneven floor in my office not the frame. I have a single 28" monitor mounted of an arm and it doesn't seem to have any impact of the frame+desk levels. I really have no complaints and am very happy with them.

PS. Mine was branded Artiss but I'm pretty confident the same frame gets sold under different names or no name.

        • thank you for taking the time to reply. this will actually seal the deal for me hahaha

  • anyone know how sturdy they are?
tested a few ikea and OW ones - with a slight downward body pressure onto the table top, some ended up wobbling like no tomorrow - no way am I putting my monitor on there lol

    • -1

You get what you pay for. I personally use a zenspace desk and even that thing wobbles a little at very high levels and it's considered to be rated as a top tier sturdiness product. Though I no longer notice it as much as time goes on. Other good options for sturdiness include updown desk. I have tried the ikea options, other than the idasen they are awful.

      • thank you for this - ideally a zendesk or omnidesk would be ideal for me, but it's outside my budget haha

might have to settle for entry range lol

    my experience:

I bought one of these, one of the items (transmitting rod) was missing from the package. for 3 months I was sending them email to send me the rod. the customer service was terrible… they were just saying thank you for understanding and patience ! they couldn't send me the missing item and eventually I lost my patience and asked for a refund (through paypal)… it took 1 more month and they said they are sending me the rod… I waited a week and they sent me a power cable!!! I was on fire on that day… and then finally they processed my refund through paypal !

I'd suggest avoid if you care about customer service. they are one of the worst!

  • I bought the same model and put together with a IKEA Idasken 120X70 brown table top bought for 89$ and it was amazing. I have a noise issue with the frame which i received, its working but a friction noise is coming. Overall happy with the price have a 32 inch monitor fitted on that and very good for occasional standup meetings.

    • How do you rate the IKEA table top?
I am looking at attaching a monitor arm with 2 screens and was wondering about the potential to damage the Ikea top.

      cheers

I ended up with a Zenspace desk which I would highly recommend for anyone who wants a bit more of a higher quality sit stand desk and willing to pay double of this one but I thought I would share the link of a spreadsheet someone made on Ozbargain of the different options. Really helped me to make my decision.
I think this is the OP
    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/542247

    Here is the spreadsheet
    https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/11LXiimhecg-uI2mnGE5K…

    • You have been promoted to Level 2 - Elite

      • My dream has come true. Been stuck on level 1 for so long.

    • +2

I too have a zen space desks one and would also recommend it. I did have an issue with it but the MD got in touch with me and all sorted.

The desk itself is awesome, have a 34 ultrawide and a 27inch mounted on arms on it, solid as a rock. I went the ergo edge as it gives you a nice angled surface to lean on and love it.

    • +1

Zenspace desk ftw, own a bamboo top and absolutely love it! Highly reconmend it over the ikea idasen.

  • Thanks

  • Couple of questions, for those who have bought this:

    1. What's your experience with the stability of these desks?

    - My current Ikea (fixed height) is slightly unstable but I think that's due to having heavy load (bookshelf speakers + two big monitors) on a standard thickness Ikea table top.
    - From US-based sources, they usually talk recommend a desk frame with a crossbar for added stability - doesn't look nice but will do the job. Unfortunately you don't see these on any of the desks seen here (Example link: https://www.workwhilewalking.com/what-makes-some-standing-de…)

    1. Does anyone know where I can find a comparison chart of all the different models available? Once you filter out all the dual motor ones, it's hard to tell them apart (like why do some cost more than the others they offer here)

    2. Has anyone had any experience between these desks vs the other brands (Omnidesk, ZenSpaceDesks, etc)?

    Thanks in advance, everyone!

    • +2

can't answer all your questions, but this will help with comparisons

This is amazing detail thanks for putting it together and sharing it

      • which one is this one then? the name artiss came up a lot, but the specs don't match up to the details in the spreadsheet.

edit: oh apparently this is the artiss on the spreadsheet going for $1.2k, that's why i got confused. max load 1.3kg, minimum height 600mm

  • How do you fix a tabletop to this frame? Does it need to be drilled and screwed?

  • I bought a similar frame to model 1/5 from Myer online in April and placed an IKEA Bekent tabletop (160*80) on it. The frame was Artiss brand(was $265) and the tabletop cost was$89 so for $354 got a height adjustable desk. So far it has been great for the price. The only drawbacks are it doesn't have the memory preset function(I would highly recommend getting this) and just slightly wobbly at full height (might due to the larger tabletop I choose). I haven't noticed an issue with the single motor, might just take a little longer to go up and down. I wouldn't recommend putting a very heavy solid tabletop on this as mentioned in the post and be prepared to spend some time assembling this (buy a cheap screwdriver)

    • How do you rate the Ikea benchtop? I'd be looking to attach some monitor arms and wondered how the Ikea stuff would hold up to being clamped/damaged. cheers

      • +1

IKEA Bekent tabletop is a solid one so it will be ok to mount monitor arms, just beware there are few IKEA table tops made with hollow paper patterns inside like LINNMON table top which will not be suitable for weights over time.

  • Does anyone know what the difference is between the various models here?

  • I've used the same Acacia tabletop for a desk for about 5 years or so now, it's been pretty good. I went with it initially as I wanted a wide desk, so kept it at the 2200mm length without problems. Only things I would say about it are it would be nice if it was about 100mm deeper and that you need to treat the whole surface with something. I left it raw initially for the first 3 years or so and it became kind of dirty and dull.

Ended going with a polyurethane coat on it which has kept it nice. It loses the raw wood feel but it's much harder wearing now and easier to keep clean.

  • Is the black one sold out now?

    • nvm seems to be available again

      Groupon is so dodgy

  • Thanks, OP. Have been considering one of these for a little while.

  • I've been looking to get one of these for a while now. Could not figure out 1 thing.
There frames list max support for length of tabletop as up to 180 cm (or this one with 200 cm)
My table top is 246cm (IKEA BARKABODA).
If I put this frame, my tabletop will have 23cm overhang on each side.
Will that be too big of an issue? Will it make it slightly unstable?

If anyone has used these on IKEA 246cm countertops, would love to hear how it is going for you?

I have triple monitor setup and tend to go a bit heavy with the load (but will be lower than the max 120kg rated load).

    • Yeah I'm thinking the same thing, I have a 34" UW and 2 x 24".. Easily be under maximum weight, but does the side overhang harm? I've ordered and hoping for the best.. I'm actually thinking to use a solid core door, preprimed so paint to suit, found a cheap second hand one off marketplace in new condition, the door handle location is perfect for cables too. Just need to think about it more!

  • Black appears to be sold out, so minimum price is the $369

    • Ohh and just like above, they've now restocked again.

  • Awesome, I only need 1m wide desk, 60cm depth is the max I can go for my space…anyone interested in getting the Bunnings hardwood and cutting it clean in half? We'd both get 110cm each. I'm in Sydney.

Any other suggestions for a standing desk that's only 1m wide and 60 deep? Do I still need dual motors if it is smaller and hence weighing less?

  • i bought this a few weeks ago along with the 2200mm Beech Panel from Bunnings to create a desk and spray painted the shiny silver parts of the support legs to gloss black
    http://offers.kd2.org/en/au/aldi/phxBF/

Already had these motorized desks at work which i barely used maybe once a month so didnt go that route

    • 800mm seems incredibly high for a desk to sit at unless you're on a drafting stool or something.

      • my old table is 750mm, i am 6 feet tall and use a herman miller chair so seems okay for me.

  • If anyone needs a top, getting one made but I have to buy the whole sheet so can make 2 with it. Selling the other half pickup parramatta NSW area.

    • Hey bud, i'm keen. could you let me know some more details like size, price, etc. thanks

    • How and where are you made if you don't mind sharing? Looking to get myself a tabletop for the frame

      • I'm getting my brother in law to make it(he's a professional) so has the warehouse and equipment to cut it, getting it from https://trademaster.com.au/ i think? as their shop is close by

        • If anyone is getting it done, I am keen to split as well, I am looking for around 140cm or 150cm x 75cm. I live in Wentworth Point, Sydney.

    • I grabbed mine from ikea…. worked good
      https://www.ikea.com/au/en/cat/kitchen-worktops-24264/

    • Keen for this too. I need 60cm x1m or thereabouts. In Sydney inner west but Parra etc is fine.

  • Also for anyone interested in comparing see this that has been floating around that I used

    https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/11LXiimhecg-uI2mnGE5K…

  • Got the model 1 from Amazon for $220 last year link to frame only.

Got a $15, 1m wide table top from Officeworks to go with.

Pretty quiet operation. Better than spending $170 for a manual.

RRP are not real at all.

  • This is a long running deal I bought this last year with same price. Matched it with ikea worktop (186cm length)
    https://www.ikea.com/au/en/cat/kitchen-worktops-24264/

    • what worktop did you get? strong enough for a monitor arm?

      • +1

I am using https://www.ikea.com/au/en/p/saeljan-worktop-oak-effect-lami… (186cm length) , no problem for me. This worktop might be a bit narrow for somebody, you might like to check in ikea store first, but I don't recommend to put a wide worktop as motorised stands are not as sturdy as normal ones. You may also need to be aware of the weight if you choose the hardwood worktops (you can check that in the product details section, for example SÄLJAN is 24 kg), overweighting can decrease the lifespan of the motors.

        • Thanks for the info.
This looks pretty good and thicker than some of the other tops that come with stand up desks - should be no problem with a monitor arm.

How wide is it? I couldn't see the dimension as aside from length and thickness.

          • @kingyone: Length:
            186 cm
            Depth:
            63.5 cm
            Thickness:
            3.8 cm

        • Width: 65 cm
          Height: 4 cm
          Length: 195 cm
          Weight: 22.20 kg
          Package(s): 1

          22.2kg vs 24kg…

  • When do they ship these?

    • Wondering the same thing. It says 2-5 business days and I purchased on Tuesday but status is still showing Order Received. Doubt its going to show up on Monday

      • Just checked and my order status updated:

        Friday
        November 6th, 2020 - 17:10 PM EST

Kensington Shipped with Toll Ipec and Tracking

    • 4 days from the day I ordered.

  • Just curious - anyone know the expiry date for this Groupon deal?

  • Just received mine today.

  • I prefer a deep desk. Can I use this if I cut it down to 2000 x 800? Thanks
    https://www.bunnings.com.au/araucoply-2100-x-900-x-30mm-clea…

    • Actually that is not a bad choice for deep desk, I prefer hardwood but pine is fine. You need to stain, vanish or paint the top. Also you can get Bunning to cut it down for you at the store.

  • Can someone do a huge favour and post unboxing images or videos when they receive? I got mine on Sat but they sent the wrong model and I have to repack the Tetris to send back.

  • Mine was just delivered but I dont think it is a Model 4. There is 2 motors but design is different with no cable tray. Anyone else?

    • Yup, that's why I have to return mine

    • +1

Yeah I got the same as you guys, it's this one: https://artiss.com.au/collections/sit-stand-desk/products/ar…

I'm happy with it so won't be returning.

Edit: this is what I believe is advertised:
      https://www.myer.com.au/p/artiss-motorised-standing-desk

      • Thanks, good to know.
What you guys are getting seems to be a newer model. It's slightly more expensive @ Myer ($831 vs $693) but specs are a little lower:
        https://www.myer.com.au/p/artiss-height-adjustable-standing-… - actual
        vs
        https://www.myer.com.au/p/artiss-motorised-standing-desk-whi… - advertised

        • what specs are lower?

The only thing i noticed is the one advertised has a lower minimum height (62cm) which means better ergonomic range.

seeing as how the packing seems quite elaborate, i might have to identify which one they sent me so I can send it back without all the hassle.

          • +1

            @plentifoo:

            • Narrower adjustment ranges: 69-118 vs 62-125 height; 110-170 vs 110-180 frame width (hence, max table top width is 20cm lower, but I guess it can be ignored)
            • Slower speed: 32 mm/s vs 38 mm/s
            • Lower max load: 100 kg vs 125 kg
          • @plentifoo: If it says model HASD-204-BK on the box, it's what I got

        • no one has actually reported receiving the one advertised as yet. i don't have high hopes…

          • @plentifoo: I also received HASD-240-BK did anyone contact Groupon for correction?
            did they provide any solution?

            • +2

@Acejos: I contacted their support who asked me to send through a photo. I'll report back if I hear anything.
The extra 20cm of length is important to me, so it'd be good to get one that actually is right. (Yes I could probably just do it, but I'd prefer to not have them use it against me if it causes an issue).

        • Looking at the same box: HASD-204-BK

I wonder if the 'newer' model is actually 'better', meaning sturdier, better motors, stronger,… Or just cheaper for them to make..?

          • @Maxx Power: Either way the functional specs are different. I have to return mine because i need one which goes down to at least 65cm and widens as close to 180cm as possible.

            • @wyrmy: How did you guys go, any updates from groupon? Mine's arriving today but I imagine the story will be the same….

              • +1

@teebrooks: they want me to wait 7 days lol

              • +1

@teebrooks: No further updates. I followed up again yesterday evening and all they could say was groupon management is working with the merchant on a resolution.

              • @teebrooks: Groupon have accepted a return and refund. The delay between emails is quite long and I'm still waiting for confirmation on when they are going to collect from home. No doubt the actual processing of refund will take ages even after they receive the item.

Overall this has been such a waste of time dragged out close to a month.

      • Received my HASD-204-BK.
I got the same one without cable managment, which I need.
Anyone actually got the one with cable management rack?

    • Same here, got HASD-204-WH and decided to keep it as I don't think I will get anything better for this price. It's more stable than four Ikea legs I had before. Will probably buy this to compensate for the missing cable rack: https://www.ikea.com/au/en/p/signum-cable-trunking-horizonta…
Info on the Internet is somewhat conflicting. Some sellers have HASD-204 same as the one listed in the Groupon ad, others - the one we are actually getting.

  • +1

Received my HASD-204-BK version today via TOLL… A+ so far for handling and fast shipping…

Put the frame together this arvo. Only took about 20 minutes. Very simple..

First thoughts is that this thing is tough and well built. Heavy feet and crossbar which really adds to the stability.

I was a bit worried about the two tiny supporting crossbars which didn't seem to do much but once you put the top on it is very sturdy, although I probably wouldn't sit on it…

Starting height is 69cm which is plenty low for me and my family of giants. I was more concerned about the height which I am happy to say that after I set it up for my 6'6" fat arse there is plenty of height left.

One downside is that there is no cable management apart from a couple of 3M cable ties so you may want to invest if one of those if you are planning to run an electronics shop from this thing.

For $330 this is another great OZ buy..!

  • Received HASD-204-BK as well.

    https://files.ozbargain.com.au/upload/86680/84410/st.jpg

Sending Groupon pictures, shall see what they say as this appear to be the latest model being sold everywhere.

  • I'm going to be pretty bummed if I get the HASD-204-BK, the main features I was interested in were width and high lifting capacity.

I received a tracking number via text that was being delivered to Croydon, then received another one which was out for delivery in syd yesterday, but has been scanned in Melbourne this morning.

Something else to differentiate, the model 4 has 3 sections to the leg that telescope out of the top, where the HASD-204-BK looks like it has 2 sections and they telescope from the bottom?

    • Yeah - I think we received an older model?

The cross beam is only one (albeit very sturdy) metal pole, where the model shows two beams. This is what irks me the most.

    • Got a hasd-204

  • Yep same as the others. Ordered the Model 4 and got the HASD-204-WH (I got white legs).

Kudos to those who are happy with it anyway, but it was falsely advertised and not at all what I needed (particularly in regards to width and weight capacity).

Spoke to Groupon via live chat yesterday, and emailed some photographs of the box and instructions through as requested. Got an email this morning saying it has been escalated to the management team. We'll see what happens.

I'll just be going with a Zen Space desk I reckon - better specs and 10 years warranty.
