I'm no expert but the TI (from Texas Instrument) 0.23" DMD display chip is spec at 1080p as per their technical specifications sheet.
It’s capable of achieving 1080p (by way of pixel shifting), but it’s not native 1080p. It’s native resolution is 540p. You’ll need a 0.47” chip to display native 1080p, but it’ll also be a much bigger unit. Which is why there is currently no pico projector capable of projective native 1080p
Is pixel shifting to achieve 1080p a noticeable downgrade in image quality? I assume it is essentially the same as 1080p as per advertised.
@williamk30: Yes there is a slight noticeable difference if you compare the two side by side. Anyway, my point is that the OP is advertising it as “real” 1080p which it is not. Only the 0.47” chip is a real 1080P chip.

On that note, for anyone who knows, what’s a good mini projector? I got one recently for $80 (QKK) which is nice for fun little getaways but I’ve now caught the projector bug and I want one that can do a whole wall but still be on the cheap ( <500)
For how good this $80 one is, surely there’s something around? The only flaw I have with this one is the brightness + non native 1080p plus it’s got a loud fan
How many inches do you want to project? For 120” in a dark room, you’ll need something with at least 500 ANSI lumens brightness, otherwise it’s too dim IMO.
When I typed in "toumei projector" onto AliExpress these 2 devices were at the top of the list, they look identical to this projector. US$423 AU$611 BYINTEK U50 Full HD 1080P Mini projector or US$274 AU$329 BYINTEK Brand U30 Full HD 1080P projector The prices are for the upcoming 11/11 sale. They have an Australian warehouse which I think means the GST is included and free shipping. I'm not sure how these Byintek devices differ from this Toumei S2. But the seller has 98.4% positive feedback (very high for AliExpress) and both projectors have 4.9 stars***** from 100+ reviews.
