It pays to do some research. The Dell 15 SE comes with a poor screen. This G7 17 is much better with a 144hz 300nits 99% sRGB screen.

      • Recently Dell has been using a garbage 120Hz 250nit VA display in there 15” range. The SE had for a short time the 144Hz 300nit IPS panel which a lucky bunch got.

      • I didn't buy it for the screen, but for the processing power.
I hooked it up to my 34"4K monitor most of the time.

Occasionally I might use the laptop on the couch - that's when my eyes bleed from the crap screen lol

    • I have the same one. While I didn't notice any screen issues initially, the past week or so the screen got so bad I could barely read grey text on a white background. I downloaded the latest bios update which seems to have rectified the issue (for now?!)

My G7 with the rtx 2060 was a nightmare, faults with the keyboard, touchpad, loud as a jet engine, overheating issues, battery performance was so bad not even simcity 4 was playable… I can imaging all the issues you'd come across with the rtx 2070.
In theory the specifications are great and well worth the price, but in practice it is a terrible laptop. Maybe if someone could take out the components and put them in a mini atx case with proper cooling, then I guess it should be fine.

  • Bought this on first deal posted months ago and things I have experienced are just preferring to only use this 144hz screen on cs:go and Valorant, otherwise i keep it hooked up to UHD & QHD screens. Playing something like warzone i prefer extra pixels and size of say a 27" monitor to see enemies rather than 144hz smooth brain gaming. Just too small of a screen to play games that may require attention to detail but battle royals aside it's great for other games. Without repeating too much of what others have said, I don't have crashes or anything playing, does get too hot to touch above the keyboard when really pushing it and battery life sucks and is pushing me towards getting a pc and xps combo.

Good deal for what it is though.

  • What motherboard does this have

  • bought it on last deal, after under volt the GPU, never had a issue, Bought a Samsung 860 evo 2tb for it, installed on the second M.2 slot, can't be recognize by the bios, swap slot with the original ssd, both can be recognized this time, seems the second slot can't see M.2 SATA. wondering if anyone esle has the same problem.

  • Can somebody here recommend this? Been looking at this and i think its good price.
