  • Hmm apparently 5m cables are too short.

"5m Copper cables was the only available choice for a long time but it was still too short. So we decided to make a 5m cable!"
    Don't comprehend…

  • Has anyone got experience with this brand? I was looking at alternatives to the official Oculus Link cable earlier but a lot of people were using 3m cables or longer solutions involving active extension cables.

    • +1

Not sure on this brand, however I am using one from Cable Matters. Their 5m active cable, works great, though the cable is a bit stiff and rigid. So far I've actually been using wireless VD which has been great.

+1 for Virtual Desktop. I have a third party link cable but never use it!

      • +1 for Virtual Desktop. Running this for my Quest 2 to play Steam VR games and works fantastic.

This is not a comment on this specific cable, but in general:
Watch out when buying a cable advertised for Quest because 80% of them are only USB 2.0 with USB C connector. And most have mixed or poor reviews on Amazon.

    • You have to watch which port on your pc you connect to. Always try with the ones directly from your motherboard (the ports at the back and not the one on the front of your case) - proven with a fasgear usb 3.1 3m cable i got from amazon.

      • Yes that too, but the cables I'm talking about are often being advertised as "fast 480mbps" without actually saying that they're USB 2.0.

(480mbps being the max speed of USB 2)

  • I think this is still too short, I need a 5m cable

  • How long is this discount available for?

  • Might as well spend $30 to get the virtual destop and you can run your app through that?
