    • If you ordered the consoles then yes. It is strictly 1 console per customer meaning, 1 of each.

  • does my thrustmaster t. flight hoyas for the ps4 qualify for this trade in deal?

    • +1

I would say it does BUT since it's a specialty product, call 1st to make sure.

    • Just called eb. They dont accept trade in for the thrustmaster flight stick

  • Ah apparently need to trade all these with a console instead of just the games and accessories. Guess I have to part with my PS4 pro earlier :(

  • I'm assuming they won't accept the original fat PS4 for a decent price? If anyone knows, much appreciated.

    • +2

Someone posted this list in a different forum thread with all the trade in prices: https://imgur.com/CGBHQyR

Pretty sure the prices are without EB World % added on top.

      • Thank you

      • Correct, just add the percentage on top of whatever your EB World level is.

  • +3

Not sure if people were aware of this or if it went right over my head, but you can only take advantage of this if you were lucky enough to get one of the pre-orders. I did not and the guy basically said I won't be able to trade in with the extra value. I thought it could be like a credit thing so that when we do order from them (when they start accepting orders again) we could get it at the price.

Looks like I won't be getting this deal. Damn.

Does any one know when Melbourne Metro EB Games stores are opening?

    • +1

      They're already open

  • Can anyone confirm if this event already started? An article from presstart popped up saying it has started today for Melbourne but they don’t offer any source for the info…

In Victoria yes - check your email :

"This is your personal invite to the trade event you've been waiting for, Next-Gen VIP Trade Week! We’re kicking it off on the 29th October for Victorians only!"

Has anyone got a level 4 card they'd be willing to share? I'm only at level 1 and wanna get a better trade in.

I went to trade on Thursday and ran into similar problems. I would suggest the following:

    1. Keep the trade deals seperate. Insist on two transactions, the first for your console trade in, the second for games and accessories. Not by choice but the staff serving me (a very good staff) tried to save me time and put it all together in one transaction and this led to the initial problem that consoles do not get bonus trade value as part of the double bonus deal. Another problem here is it gets very confusing when you are trying to figure out the value of everything when it's all in one transaction.

    2. If possible be ready with some form of confirmation of the original deals and how much you will expect from the console trade plus ebworld bonus.

    3. If initially they do not offer you the right value be polite and respectful but do not give up so easily and know that you are correct in that the eb world bonus applies on top of the console trade ins (now confirmed by eb games head office as per the earlier post). The issue here is that each store and each staff member may have a different understanding of the deal (although I think this will become better as they process more and more of these deals). In my case it was the second day back for then after the lockdown so fair enough there was some confusion. The fact there were two deals going on added to the confusion.

    4. The final confirmation of your preorder deposit should be on the receipt you get after the trade. Ask them if some how you didn't get it

No doubt you will all get very different experiences but i hope you all are able to get your trades done as expected. VIC is open now so should be a big weekend for trades.

    All the best

Thanks for the advice. I'll be bringing my mum just in case they try to pull one over me.

    • Hey dude, I'm planning on trading my ps4 slim towards the ps5, as well as an xbox one, 3ds, and a bunch of games. I'm a little confused as to how it will work out after reading your comment. I would have thought that they wouldn't be able to put the games on a separate transaction because they only get the bonus WHEN trading in a console?

Maybe I should go in one day and trade in my ps4 to get the bonus console value, then go in another day to trade in the other consoles, games and accessories and get the bonus games+accessories value from that!?

  • +1

Is there anything special I need to do to PS4 before trading it in?

    Factory reset?

Then do I just log into my new PS5 with same PS Plus account and all my games will be available?

    • +2

Back up your save files either through cloud saving through PSPLus or on an external drive.

Deactivate your profile as primary on your console.

Do an initialisation. I did this before I traded in my Pro and it took 5 hours and it wiped absolutely EVERYTHING off the console.

  • Can anyone confirm if you can get the bonus amounts without having a preorder for a console?
Yesterday in store i was told i could get store credit on a gift card without having to have a console on order . I missed out on the eb console and brought one through Big W.
But I want to trade in my old consoles and buy games and accessories at EB.

    • +1

Today I was told the bonus only applies if it goes towards a next gen console.

      • +1

I've called a few stores to check this and they all said this to me too. Bonus only applies when applying the trade to a preorder new gen console.

        • So if you don’t have a preorder for console you can’t take advantage of this deal?

          • +1

@first in line: It says on the eb games email this… Offer valid for customers with next-gen console preorders

    • +1

Officially, no. However, given the staff who helped me entered the wrong set of codes initially, you might be lucky to encounter the staff who accidentally entered the preorder for a console code for you (unlikely, but could happen).

You might be better off asking a mate who managed to secure a pre-order to do it for you. However, to be honest, it is more a convenience than getting really good values from EB games.

  • +1

I wonder what happens if you trade in for a console and get the bonus, then cancel the preorder.. get a GC with the trade in value (which has bonus value…?)

    • +1

Yep - you've always been able to do that.

      • Looks like that's what I'll be doing this weekend! I'm on the fence about getting a series s though. To compliment the ps5 with gampass. Being able to get it for ~150 after trade ins is tempting..

    • Lose your $50 deposit though?

      • No, you get that back if you cancel.

        • Thanks. I was actually thinking about cancelling my order says 2021.

  • Can you trade towards a console without a preorder? Ie a future wave?

    • +1

They need to be able to physically do it at the register. If there is no listing for a new pre order you can't do it. So no, you need to have an existing pre order or be able to put the trade credit towards a new one. That said the trade bonus ends in January from memory so hopefully this will helpmthise that missed out.

I called around to do about this before I managed to secure one.

    • No, not based on the official guidelines. The trade in towards pre-order has a different set of codes. The staff who did mine initially used the wrong codes (the ones for without pre-order). However, thanks to Movember20's comments, I knew that could happen. The staff had to get the manager out at the back and the manager found another sheet specifically for pre-order.

However, at the end of the day, it is up to the staff and the store. I did find the trade in value was significantly worse for the one not for pre-order. Example: XBox One X (for pre-order, level 3 added): $402, XBox One X (not for pre-order, level 3 bonus added): ~$262 (I cannot quite remember the exact figure).

  • +1

Bought multiple of these games from CEX to trade. I'm level 4 so I got 40%. All were PS4 copies. Xbox might get different prices.

Far Cry 5 $12 got $19.6 (best deal I found so far)
Borderlands Handsome Collection $12 got $16.8
    Titanfall 2 $10 got $14
    Kingdom Hearts 2.8 $8 got $14
    UFC 2 $8 got $14
    Doom $12 got $14

    • Thanks for the info.

If anyone else who has already traded their stuff in could confirm values they got that would be appreciated. Might might help some in making sure correct bonuses are applied and whatnot given the issues some have experienced.

Would also help those of us who can't get into an EB til later know that values aren't being adjusted throughout the week and we aren't missing out…

          • @Sutra: It is. I'm getting 2 consoles.

However, I've read people being able to trade in 2 consoles for 1. YMMV.

    COD IW = $6.50
    Infamous Second Son = $7.80
    Destiny = $0.33
    Gears of War 4 = $10.40

    • Out of curiosity did they only apply the increased trade value to one of your consoles? If you wouldn't mind, could you list what it says on your receipt for the 2 consoles + bonus credit.

      TIA

  • Look at those trade prices for Destiny, Anthem and some of the sports titles! You might be better off keeping the slipcases in the event you break one and need a spare.

    • For sure. But for me it was either this or the bin. I used to hoard games in a bookshelf but now I realised that I just don't care any more.

    • No one is going to buy those games. I'm shocked they're even giving anything. Just a waste of space.

    • Great effort! Thanks for this!

    • Thanks for putting this together. However RDR2 is $24 base trade in value

      • +1

RDR2 - mine was the XBox One version. Yours was PS4 version.

        Revised for RDR2:

Game Base Credit With L3 Bonus (+30%)
Red Dead Redemption 2 (XBox One) $21.00 $27.30
        Red Dead Redemption 2 (PS4) $24.00 $31.20
        • Ah right sorry!

    • I also traded in Spiderman. Surprised me given I bought it for about $19 from Amazon (and it was still unopened) so with the EB trade in bonus, I'm close enough to break even (give or take due to potential for egift cards/etc).

  • If you still haven't used your once off bonus trade-in credit ($5 for L2, $10 for L3 etc…), it is good time to use it now. When I used mine, it adds $10 to the trade-in base value, then applies the 30% L3 bonus on the combined price.

  • OK guys trying to figure out the best way to do this…

    1. Don't have a Pre-Order but intend to use a mates PS5 pre-order for the deal
    2. Will be trading PS4 Pro and games, Xbox One X and games AND some switch games
    3. He has paid his PS5 off already
    4. I am LVL 4 so I want to use my EBWorld card for better values (Mates is only LVL2)
    5. Can I get it in gift cards

    Can anyone help with that?

    • +2

Honestly, you need to find an EB staff that's very willing to help you. The staff who did mine initially got the console trade in price done incorrectly. The base console trade in price for XBox One X 1TB without pre-order bonus right now is ~$228. Even with my L3 bonus, it only pushes it up to $262 (the figures might be a bit off as I cannot quite remember the exact figures). That pales in comparison against pre-order with no level up credit added ($350 - or $402.5 with L3 bonus). Even with your L4 bonus on $228, you still cannot reach $350 ($385 with your mate's L2 10% bonus).

For consoles, your best hope is find a staff that's willing to do another 2 consoles towards your mate's pre-order. You lose 10% (L4 - 20%, L2 - 10%), but the pre-order base bonus is worthwhile. EB will probably need to give you a gift card (and your mate probably needs to pay you some money).

For games, I wouldn't bother, since L2 @ double bonus = L4 with no pre-order bonus (20%). You might as well use your own standard L4. The only way I can think of is if your mate is very close to reaching L3 (i.e. a couple of games trade-ins would have him reach L3), then it would be worthwhile for you to help your mate reach L3 (but your mate needs to let you use the $10 bonus L3 trading voucher to compensate you a bit). Due to slowness of EB's system, you need to wait 48 hours for the carrot points to appear.

      • Thanks for that detailed explanation!

Starting to think this isn't worth the hassle

        • +1

Selling the consoles on Facebook Marketplace might be a better option. eBay is another possibility, but you need to wait for eBay to offer you $1 or no final value fee and postage is a bit of a pain.

Re-checking my receipt carefully (sorry, got the figures wrong previously), here is the break down for XBox One X console trade in:

          Item Credit
          XBox One X, 1TB $260.00
          Pre-order trade in bonus $90.00
          Level 3 Bonus: 15% $52.50

Without the pre-order trade in bonus, it is not worth it. L4 without pre-order bonus would give you $312 EB credit for an XBox One X (but $420 with pre-order bonus for L4).

      • That's really interesting @netsurfer. I thought it was just me - they also had the same issue when I brought my Xbox One X last Thursday during the promotion and it came out at about $350ish AFTER the EB bonus for a level 3 member. It's only when I reminded them that I am trading in because of the Xbox Series X preorder promotion with the $350 (before EB bonus) that they had to manually override it. The staff were very friendly/helpful and I don't think they meant to rip anyone off, but rather the system was just not set up to align with the promotions they'd been advertising so it pays to check!

(my Xbox One X came out to be worth $402.50 with Level 3)

        • +1

same situation as you. traded my xbox one x and they only gave me $350 for it. reminded them but they say it’s not showing up in their system and didn’t give me the extra 15% for level 3 members. i couldn’t find a flyer or online post to show em that i should have a bonus so i just went ahead with the transaction and left without causing a fuss. went to ozbargain asked around and confirmed that others are having the extra bonus credits for members, the next day i called eb customer service shared my situation and they happily credited me the remaining bonus credits. oils well that ends well

    • Can your friend get refund for his ps5, did he pay it off with cash or did he also trade his console towards his ps5 ? he can give you the cash and you can pay his ps5 with your trade ins if he can get refunded

      • Hey there, yeah he paid cash!Hope I can just get some Gift Cards

  • +1

    Level 1 Trade In Values

    DS4 Controller - 28.80
    Red Dead Redemption 2 - 28.80
    Monster Hunter World - 9.60
    CoD BlOps3 - 24.00

    OG PS4 500GB - 220.95

There is also a $3 "refurb" fee they charge for the console. It appears the staff member at my local store had no issues putting mine through correctly using Promo Code #15626 which is listed against all the items on my receipt

    • Wasn't charged any refurb fee. I had the original cardboard box still and everything was original (controller, HDMI cable, power cable). My XB1X was in pretty good condition.

    • +1

      Did your games have cases?

      • Yes all games in cases but no PS4 box

  • Does anyone know if I can use my friend's eb account for trade in credit into my account/pre order? He is level 3.

    • If he also has a pre-order, he could ask the staff to see if he/she would allow splitting some credits to your pre-order. However, that's only kind of make sense for a console trade in and you are on level 1, so you get $52.50 more for XBox One X. If you are on L2, the difference between L2 and L3 is only $17.5 (not worth the mess). However, it would be obvious that you are trying to bend the rules.

For games and accessories, just trade those directly into his pre-order and have him pay you the credits in cash (maybe give him a bit of commission).

Do bear in mind that console trade in gets you 2X carrot points (so that's 700 points for L1). So, for L1 trading XBox One X to pre-order any next gen console, you will certainly reach L2 once the entire transaction is finished (coz you also get points for a new console purchase).

  • So the trade bonus only applies on the games and accessories not the console?

    • Correct but the consoles when traded towards a next gen console pre-order already have an increased value applied + your EB World bonus on top.

  • +1

Went in and did trade lot 1 of 2 today at EB. Got the following with lvl 4 EBW:

    XB1S 1TB: $240
    XB1 Controller x2: $42 each
    CoD Black Ops 3 (XB1): $23.80

    Total = $347.80

And in another turn of events the store manager said it was also fine to trade in as many consoles as you like towards your pre-order. She combed through the fine print and T&C's and said it says nothing about limits so go for it. So I'll be heading in on Monday and trading my PS4 Pro in for $361.14.

    • This is quite interesting as there was earlier discussion that the second console you traded wouldn't get the bonus value of the pre-order.

So for two consoles trades at the promised bonus values , you would need two pre-orders

Not the case then? Would be interested to see if anyone else has experience with this.

      • Yep that’s what everyone has been saying but myself and a couple of posters on Whirlpool were told there were no restrictions or notes on trading more than one console at the increased value on one pre-order.

Just one of those EB things where it varies from employee to employee.

        • Yes that is what makes it confusing. Store to store, staff to staff can be different at times. But good to see you are all good!

  • Got $360 with level 2 for PS4 Pro because they messed up scanning in the controller so I got a extra $30, transaction was complete so nothing they could do apparently.

  • I need 59 carrots to reach level 2.
    Any suggestions?

    • Some possible ways to reach L2:

      • Trade games (you need $30 worth).
      • Buy Microsoft digital currency or Sony digital currency from EB games (1 carrot per dollar).

Do your calculation to see if it is worth it. It takes 24 hours for in store transaction to appear and another 24 hours for carrots to be added. Make sure you do your calculation to ensure you are actually better off. Trade game(s) is probably better because of the 2X factor.

      • thanks for the reply. I did pre-order cyberpunk for $30 plus 2 games. Would that give me carrots or only after the game is released?

        • Just checked my Carrot History and I do not have any carrots from any of my pre-orders so I assume you only get them once you collect and pay for it.

        • +1

Your pre-order trade in games should already have the carrot points awarded. Check your carrot stash report online. If not, contact EB games support team during business hours to get that fixed (those missing points should bump your status to L2).

I am seeing all the games I traded in for this pre-order (yesterday) being counted in carrot stash already, as well as the console trade in. However, my pre-order deposit amount has not been counted (I am guess I could technically still cancel that pre-order and get the deposit back).

        • +1

As I mentioned in the other thread, you do not get carrots for amounts paid on pre-orders until the pre-order is collected but you do carrots for anything you trade towards pre-orders which usually takes a day or two to register.

    • You can buy one of the half price hoodie for $15 using click & collect method. I received 65 carrots for the transaction including 50 bonus carrots.

So having been purchasing from Gumtree and Facebook in prep for this I have gained a little bit of info. You can trade 5 copies of the same game per console, so 5 for PS4 and 5 for Xbox One. You can stack your birthday offer of 50% with your standard Eb World Trade in level. But it does not stack with the double Eb World Level for trading in the console. Downside is they got mine wrong as I'm level 3, but I won't quibble. I traded a second PS4 Slim 1TB. On my receipt it is listed scanned ultimately valued at $276.05 with a deduction of the bonus override of $30.95 before my Ebworld level was added $25.10. So it was higher than the standard trade in value for the PS4 at the moment, which was $210 the other day. So it might still be worth trading in more than one console.

So I got almost $1,900 trade credit in the end after trading 51 games, 1 console and 2 controllers. Hopefully this info can help another Ozbargain member.

    • Thanks for the extensive list, few of my games on there which look worth trading. ($26+ bonus for crash trilogy, when it's now included in PS plus is great).

Do the DS4s work out to ~26.18 before bonuses?

And do you know (or anyone) if non-working controllers are accepted in this round? (I know they have been in other promos, just not sure if it's generally accepted).

    • so you used the birthday voucher instead ? I got $35 for Days gone at lvl 4

      • Yes. Originally the store attendant thought that they would both stack because the code was different. But looking at the receipt it didn't. Still worked out pretty good though.

        • Did you get the extra credits as an EB gift card?

Does the birthday bonus have 1 month expiry?

          • @netsurfer: My birthday bonus identified that it expired in 31 days. I ended up purchasing a bunch of extra games and accessories. I was in the ACT and was able to walk out with a $755 EB gift card.

  • Just utilised birthday bonus as well. Was pleasantly surprised to receive a higher price for the 8 games that I traded than I originally paid for them. Eg paid $21 for Days Gone brand new and received a trade in price of $41.25.

Nuts went in to do a top up trade in today with a few more games and whilst I probably should've read the T&Cs clearer, the bonus trade in credit only applies to the same transaction as the hardware trade in - ie. don't bring your old console in until you have everything ready to trade in in one go.

    • An absolute mess around, but couldn't you "buy back" on paper your trade in stuff and redo the initial transaction with added games?

      • Maybe but couldn't be bothered for a few bucks.

    • I figured they will try to pull something like your situation and so I went to a different store and I got the bonus stacked with birthday coupon (which I was able to used as well for the second time).

EB didn’t “pull anything”. The email literally says:

Double your EB World trade bonus on all games and accessories WHEN traded with your console”.

Some people have managed to get the bonus without the console but that’s EB being EB and staff and/or stores making up their own rules.

In all honesty the frustrating thing is when I traded in the console last Thursday, they told me that I'd still get the same bonus/promotion as long as I traded in my other games before the 9th when the promotion finished. Maybe it was my own misunderstanding as to what the "same bonus/promotion" meant and I could've read the T&Cs myself to say it's only applicable when the hardware is being traded in at the same time… but either way, seeing that I traded most of my stuff except for two games (which I found at home and decided no point holding onto since I wasn't getting a PS5 anytime soon to play them) I am not going to lose sleep over it.

          • @jace88: I got the bonus promo and I traded my consoles back in August and September. Just have to have the right staff I guess.

            • @wonderboy: As in the double bonus (eg 30% instead of 15% for Level 3)? If so, you are very lucky.

I think it as just my luck that on the trade in attempt yesterday it was with the store manager rather than the usual guys who are probably more relaxed.

@jace88: Got the same treatment as you. Only when trading with the console (even though the staff can see I traded the console in 2 days ago).

I don't get them. I was only attempting to trade in an extra controller and a game (and that game is fairly low value).
