      EBgames will try to get you to spend all your trade in credits in store but you can always do your research and order some expensive item that you can preorder much later date and cancel it if this method helps.

          Hey mate, do you know if it's possible to trade in a bunch of stuff (console + games) but only bring the console itself in when it's time to pick up the new one?

          Like I go in on the 9th and say I'm trading in my console + games and controllers, but only bring the console itself in on the 12th?

            @jakmon777: there's no benefit in bringing your console in during the November 3-9 promo :) the bonus only applies to games and accessories.

            I'd take your games and any extra peripherals during that week and your console on the 12th when collecting your next gen unit.

              @ThePriceMatchGuy: Given this bonus only applies when trading in a console as well, is the credit being 'held' until EB verifies that a console is also traded in (i.e. you won't get the bonus if you don't eventually trade the console by January)? Seems necessary if you don't have to bring the console in as well…

      Just so people are aware, you can only trade one console for the 'bonus' trade-in towards next-gen. Every console after will trade in at regular value. I was told the opposite by customer service on the the phone, but when I turned up a PS4 Pro only netted me $299, including Lvl 3 bonus (I was actually lvl 4 at the time too). I was kind of annoyed to be honest.

    Would be funny seeing people walk into EB games to take advantage of this offer, and put it towards either series X or ps5, only to see day one customers walk out with series X, that's almost a month or so ahead of them. Definitely a salty feeling 😂

    Especially when one customers will be buying it for their 1080p TV's, while those with 4k have to wait, I'm sure there's someone out there in that scene.

I've read somewhere a while ago that it isn't about how many carrots you have tied to your account but actually how much you've spent within a one year time frame of being a level 4 member. I think it was an absurd $10000 or something, i could be mistaken. Maybe 5k sounds more reasonable? Can't remember exactly.

    I changed the HDD in my PS4 pro to a 500gb SSD when I first got it, and put the 1TB drive in my OG PS4 and sold it.

    So now I have a PS4 pro with a 500gb SSD. I'm assuming EB Games wont take that, and I need to find an OG PS4 Pro 1TB drive ??

    Does anyone have any experience trading a console with a modified HDD ??

      did it improve the game loading or performance of the console?
      what SSD model is inside?

      They might not know or care if it is 500GB,
      they might just test if it loads a game or not.

        Yeah it did improve the loading performance for sure. Games that loaded maps in multiplayer I'd always spawn first, sometimes 5-10 seconds faster.

        I can't recall the model of it, I pulled it out of an old work laptop. I'm happy to give it to them, I have no need for it and rather not shell out on another HDD just to put in to give to them if I don't have to.

        I'll be honest pinkybrain, the EB staff didn't even check if my PS4 Pro turned on let alone check the hard drive.
        I only recall him checking the serial number on the box to the serial number to my console. No idea why. I didn't even think the box was necessary, it was just easier for me to carry in-store.

      No issue here. Trade will be accepted against the serial number of the console (so it will trade as a PS4 Pro).

      if you don't mention the SSD upgrade, staff won't be of the wiser.. as long as the thing turns on and is in good knick!

    Hard to tell whether this will necessarily be worth it.
    Anyone know if they will fix the prices for controllers and games? I imagine if everyone takes advantage of this you'd probably want to get in on day 1 to maximise the benefit, or do I have a misunderstanding of how EB sets their trade-in prices?
    Would appreciate any clarification here!

          You're spot on there with fluctuation based on supply and demand. Although during this upcoming trade period (Nov 3-9) trade prices will remain the same. Expect them to change shortly after though.

            Is there anyway to find out what those prices will be, or will we basically need to go into a store and ask on Nov 3?
            Oh also, re the consoles - I assume that deal is limited to one of each console type per person (i.e. you're not going to let someone trade in 3 PS4 pros if they happen to have that many, for example?)

      You don't even need the card in my experience, I always just confirm my email address with them and they add my card onto the order. I've somehow managed to almost get to level 4 this way. Clearly buying too many games…

      It's confusing because if you paid $50 deposit, that means you are on the 2021 queue (unless you are one of those lucky few which progressed to the before the end of the year queue).

      Technically, the console doesn't need to be traded in before 31/01/2021. However, the games and accessories bonus ends much sooner. Will people be allow to trade in games and accessories first (still get the bonus) and at a later date trade in the console? Otherwise, the question becomes whether the games and accessories you are trading in for that slightly more bonus is worth forgoing your current console 3 months before you get your hands on your new console.

        I got the PS4 on my birthday in March this year and do not want to sell this for so cheap at it was $450 for 1TB.
        I am after assassin's creed valhalla and Amazon is showing $68 I am happy to play that for few months and do not need the PS5. Where can I get this game cheaper ?
        Thank God for this PS4 I survived the lockdown and now the second phase of my mental anxiety !

          Yes, you can cancel the pre-order over the phone. However, I suggest you hold on to it until you sold your PS4 (Pro). Though the trade in deal may not be that great for console (due to current Covid-19 situation), you still get a guarantee that EB games will take it in the next 3 months at that price. Also, bear in mind the console trade-in part of the pre-order is optional.

          Realistically, when you look at this deal carefully, it is really for people lucky enough to score a launch day pre-order (unless they allow the console trade in part to be done later and still offer bonus for games + accessories trade in). Also, it is probably more beneficial for people trading in game accessories. Sure, we can get double the bonus per level for trading in games, but I know some of my games can only be traded in for $3 or less at EB (so after whatever bonus EB provides, still pretty lousy). Honestly, selling games to EB generally don't get you the best deals. EB is not offering trade in any 2 games for $20 each like they did for XBox One S to One X trade in deal this time (that was much better).

            I’m not even sure if I want a PS5 now as the games I want to play are getting available in PS4. Even if I sell my PS4 pro 1TB console I’ll get $300 max over eBay and PS5 is $729 a huge gap to fill in.

      Yes you can. This promotion is to encourage people to come in and trade all their gear early, so they aren't overwhelmed on launch day for the new consoles.
      I spoke to my local store today, everything you trade in goes towards the remaining balance on your pre-order.

        I actually walked past the store yesterday and saw a guy just playing on his phone. I think they're pretty bored in VIC with stores closed and only click & collect to deal with so he was more than happy to chat to me on the phone.

        Some of those games I havent even opened, mainly super cheap OzB deals. Anthem I think I paid $5

        I'm unsure if trade prices are nation wide, but he did say the trade in price is a third of what they sell them for pre-owned. So I guess if you can find the pre-owned price on their site, divide it by a third and that should be your trade in price.

      As above, the guy said trade in prices are a third of what they sell items for pre-owend. PSVR pre owned on their site is $268, so I'm guessing the trade in value would be roughly $90.

    OK none of this makes any sense as I have spoken to my local store and the only way I am getting the full $350 trade in for my XB1x is when I actually go to pick up my SX.
    I was told it has to be in 1 transaction for me to get the full $350.
    If anyone can confirm/deny it would be greatly appreciated, I wanted to go in earlier to beat the rush of having to wait for everyone to do the same thing on the same day of release.

    So since release day is 10th, how are we sposed to get the bonus which only apply from 3rd to 9th?

      My understanding is the trade value of your console will be deducted from your pre-order. So yes its in "one transaction" but you can physically trade it all in earlier, then pay what's left on launch day.

      Hence the promotion from the 3rd to the 9th to encourage people to get their trades done early, so they aren't overwhelmed on launch day with people trying to trade as well as pick up new consoles.

          I spoke to my local store on the phone yesterday and this is exactly what he said. Makes sense with the promotion too. My hunch is the person you spoke to didn't know, or you misunderstood them.

            @JBucks: I never misunderstood them as I was quite specific about what I wanted to do.
            I stated that I wanted to come in before the console release, so I would just have to pick up the SX rather than trade at the same time waiting in line as everyone else on day of release.
            I stated I was happy to give up my XB1x a week earlier to make things easier, I was told that they had to do this in 1 transaction and they could not give me credit via gift cards.
            The conversation was pretty clear, my concern is they are out of the loop as then confirmed that they would see me on the day of release for trade.

            I might have a chat to the manager and see what he says.

              The guy I spoke to specifically mentioned store credit for trade in items, that comes off your pre-order balance. Not gift cards or anything.
