We did this last year at Marion, SA. We got there early with our son and baby daughter (roughly 5th in line). Santa was late and forgot his hat so we had to wait for that to be sorted out!!!!! Lots of kids (and parents) were getting really fed up by now as you can imagine! Roughly an hour and a half after our photo was taken we were finally given our free pic. We complained about the wait and the lack of organisation and were offered a free pic with Santa the following week (when they were doing free pics again!!!!) Santa also forgot to ask my son what he wanted for Christmas!!!!

Happily this year we were in Big W last Saturday, found Santa, got a pic taken and we go back tomorrow to pic up our free pics (as many 6 x 4 as we wanted)

There are Santas at almost every shop on the planet this time of year. Its not too hard to be on time and bring a hat! Shops to this to bring you into their business, if they cant even organise a Santa then why would you bother with them. I'm with Calkay on this

Knowing HN they will say it's free to take the photo but you have to pay to keep the photo.

what's the bet its low res and more pixelated than a dot matrix, and high res prints available for extra.
No - they're high quality, except you get a single print - if you want more, you pay for the cost of printing (15 cents or what not, just like normal printing costs).
I hope there's no age limit or "you have to be shorter than THIS marker" restrictions. This could be great (and free) fun after a few drinks at Panthers.

Just about every Harvey Norman will do this, I know some of the guys who do this santa & they're not all as bad as the one above. Worth it when Westfield/DJ's/Myers will charge you a minimum of $20 for a photo.
