  • May be because there was a post that some users are complaining of some issue with display

    • +1

From memory, SS always has some kind of sale, the same time Apple announces there new iPhones

    • My display is fine, no green tint or jagged pixels around the camera cutout.

  • Weight 190 g (6.70 oz)

    Just saying

    • You need help?

      • Tennis Elbow, any suggestions for fix, tired steroids but get back within months

try taking a call with these phones for 10 mins or more or watch a movie by holding it for longer duration (like when commuting on public transport) , you will see my pain

        • You take calls with it? Just use the buds. Rest the phone against something if you are watching a movie on it. You are welcome

          • @onlinepred: looks like you don't need speaker and microphone on ur next device anymore :)
gd luck in resting your phone in a crowded train while standing (hope u travelled to work in rush hour, which most people were doing pre pandemic.). anyways don't want to argue, since its subjective to each individual :)

            • @hopper: Literally anyone with an iPhone deals with the weight BTW

  • I’ve been using Apple all my life but honestly I got sick of them already. So I have a question, if you can use a memory card for storage up to 1tb, why would someone go for a 256 gb or higher Samsung galaxy? Are there things you can’t store in your memory card? Thanks

    • +1

      Mainly apps.

Depending on the app it will either be able to have all, some or none of the app moved to the SD card. The data the app generates, though, can usually be stored on the SD card, so e.g. Spotify lets you specify where you want offline music stored, you can select to store it on the SD card; the camera app will ask if you want to store stuff on the SD card (but if it isn't fast enough it won't be able to store photos\video on it that rely on high speed storage).

      • Oh I see. Thanks a lot for your response. Cheers

Waht? I purchased one two days ago, do you think they have price guarantee at JB HIFI? :(

    • Try your luck. Definitely worth asking if you've just bought it. I recalled getting a refund from Harvey Norman before. What they did was - you "returned" the item at the original price and they resell you at the discounted price.

      • Even if the package is opened?

        • They can issue a refund in some cases, atleast within 14 days for sure.

You can mention about battery heating up, within 14 days.. refund should come through.

Had a case where DJI gimbal was causing battery issue within 14 days, and refund was happily issued even when I was happy with replacement. They didn't have in stock so refunded.

        • +2

Yup. I did call ahead to ask if they would issue a refund and if the salesperson is giving you grief, politely request that they speak to their manager or ask to speak to the manager.

I went back to HN and got some $$$ back. The salesperson was a bit grumpy but 🤷. Manager said yes to issue a refund.

        • +1

Yup. Do it asap. They usually honour it if it's inside a week or just over.

  • Tempting! Got plans to buy the pixel 5 when it goes on sale but at this price + "free" buds - seems like a decent deal. Thanks OP

    • +1

I did compare the 2 and the FE 5G just seems to beat the pixel 5 in every aspect..Ah well wife said no to either anyway lol

💯 but from a camera perspective - the P5 is superior.

I've had the Pixel XL and Pixel 3 - and still using the P3 + had 2 RMA P3 replacements and must say that Google Warranty is solid.

So tempted to buy the P5 now but I want a "good" deal lol.

        • I downloaded GCam (Google Camera) onto my FE and it takes similar photos to a Pixel 3.

Side note, waiting for a full refund on the Pixel from Google Support because the microphone is temperamental (hundreds of other people have reported this and it's never been fixed), and reception is poor.

          • @Techie4066: Would you mind me asking how you managed to get GCam onto your FE? I can't seem to be able to get it on mine :(

            • @Bohlin: Do you have the 4G or 5G? The 5G has a Snapdragon processor which works better with GCam.

              I got it from here.

Enable camera switching in settings (3x telephoto not working for the moment).

              • @Techie4066: Ah, I was using the same link, but I'm assuming the issues I'm having are in relation to the Exynos chip on the 4G version. The front facing camera doesn't appear to be working on it.

                • @Bohlin: GCam only works with Snapdragon

                  • @CodeXD: Ah, that's a damn shame. Really starting to regret the 4G purchase, didn't realise the exynos chip would have so many issues, figured it wasn't worth the $149 difference to get the 865 version because I don't use my phone for gaming at all but it still seems to have overheating issues and battery worries and now this :(

        • I'm hoping your right. Im going from a S20 Ultra 5g to a P5. The photos were terrible on the S20 over saturted pixelated noise. Photo print outs from different companies all came back similar (terrible qual) so even though they might look good on the screen, pinching and zoom you could see it. They shouldn't have made the camera sensor change. Since the P5 is old tech I think it plays in their favour.

edit: I did send it in for repair incase it was faulty. Nothing found.

      • +1

P5 better cam, updates and probably battery life. Smaller device if you like that.

S20fe bigger screen and more powerful CPU.

        • +2

samsung do 3 years of updates now as well. You may not be on the same schedule as pixels but you will get 3 years of support. I really hope more manufacturers follow suit.

        • Technically the fe had better updates. Hey one ui updates, security patches and android updates.

  • Decisions…
128gb + the buds for $999 from JB vs 256gb and no buds from Samsung EPP for $909.20?

    • +1

Go 256gb version. Buds can be bought anytime but you'll have to live with regret everyday you hold that phone if you choose 128gb.

      • +1

        Also extra ram I guess.

        • Didn't even know that….well your decision is made then.

    • Do you really need 256gb??

You can always use the microSD slot to expand?

      Sell the buds off?

      • Yeah, thinking along those lines, making it around $800

      • +2

the extra 2gb of ram is worth the extra money

  • Damn, I took up the 4G version with the $99 Telstra contract. If I had known I would have kept it unopened and asked for a swap.

    • +1

Check your invoice. It should say no refund / exchange for the $99 Telstra contract.

JB have probably thought about this one already.

  • if you combine with jb $500 gift card earlier deal / if you need a 5g plan can combine with $300 jb gift card to save a bit more

  • S20 FE 5G is down to $919 on Samsung Education now (was $949). The 256GB variant is down to $959 (was $999 before). This is before $50 discount code.

    • Oh wow. Missed the extra 5% off $1000 but now this. Maybe I'll just keep waiting …

  • S20+ or this?

  • +1

    This or OnePlus 8t??

  • Could not see any mention of the buds in the JB website though

    • +1

That ended at midnight last night.

  • Damn, I pre-ordered the S20 FE 4G variant for $999 off Amazon with the buds deal. Do you think they would honour a replacement and swap me the 4G for the 5G?

Crazy that the 4G is now more expensive than the 5G variant on their website now.
$979 for the 5G variant, $999 for the 4G variant.

  • hey op

Free Live Buds included as well.

where is this, I asked they said it ended

    • Ended at midnight last night.

I picked up mine today with the buds.
Thankfully I completed the purchase and payed online before it expired. Was just lucky that I did.

Cheers OP… Would have missed this without your post.

      • what you can do that thought it started on 15th and buds ended on 14th

        • There was a few hours of overlap when you can combine, but it was online order only since the stores were already closed (unless you live in WA)

  • Please note eSIM not supported on any variant of S20 FE in Australia.

  • Did anybody bought pixel 5 by returning s20 fe?
Likes/dislikes of pixel. I am thinking to return s20 fe and don't know which phone to get
