Same deal as when PoRKroLL posted is a few weeks back but another $59.35 cheaper as part of the Prime Day sale.

Seems like a solid router for a very good price considering the rrp is close to $500 here in Australia.

Taking a risk with potentially non-aus firmware and plug, but it seems like others had luck getting around it

Enjoy!

    Dangggg tempting for quest 2

    • yep i pulled the trigger for this reason.

      • I'm thinking the same. Quest 2 coming tomorrow or day after (argh, Amazon!). Is this the best option for the Quest 2? I'm currently on TP-Link Archer C9 :S

  • Damn that's a good deal.

Ordered one, cheers OP. Seems like a great deal compared to whats available in Aus at the same price.

Seems like you need one of these to replace the UK plug.

I want to hold off till wifi 6e routers. Seems wrong to go for a wifi 6 router so close to 6e releasing. Unless you are need it now.

    • The earlier deal states it might be possible via a firmware update, any confirmation??

  • Is this worth replacing this?

    https://www.asus.com/au/Networking/RT-AC5300/

    • Yes, because I had that AC5300 too and in 2019,
I upgraded to the GT-AX11000 and the stability,
speeds & management of multiple WiFi devices is great.

The AX chipset (for 802.11ax / WiFi 6) is quite good.

It just depends on what price you can sell the AC5300,
      to recover costs,
and at what price, you can buy the new AX router.

( I managed to get a great deal for the AX11000 last year, so that's why I went for it )

  • Anyone know with this being a UK version, will it be different from the AU version in terms of transmit power etc?

  • this is super tempting

  • I had to do it
Nearly bought the Asus pair in the eBay flash. Both are cheaper here

  • Is this running on ASUSWRT?

  • Time to upgrade from my TP-Link cheapie.

  • Damn great way to steal my money … but thanks OP

Does anyone know of I can connect this to an NBN box and if it will work with cordless phones?

    • Leaving a comment to learn the answer. Google didn't help me :(

    • It can connect to the NBN box. Which company provides your phone service?

    • Unsure if it works with RSP which uses VLAN. I've yet to figure out.

I don't see any phone port on this modem so unlikely will provide VoIP for FTTB type phone. Unless you meant something else?

      • Asus supports VLAN 802.1q.

  • Tempting, but i think if i pony up for a serious Wifi 6 router with mesh, i'll get one with tri-band so it supports wifi backhaul incase i need it in future.

    • 6e routers are expected to launch by Dec-Jan

  • Any idea if these are covered under ASUS Australian warranty

    • You're not covered under Asus Australian warranty.

      • I don't know… I've bought stuff from the US before, and I was able to take it down to the Asus repair centre. Back when they made Android 2-in-1 tablets. Brought it to South Melbourne ( or South Bank?) and got it repaired there.

When I asked Asus reps they said you're not covered for internationally purchased Asus hardware.

Yeah the Asus repair place is in Southbank.

  • I've ordered one for my Quest 2, and other devices, thanks.

My default Optus one is pretty naff.

  • no merlin support yet?

  • Anyone notice that ASUS are promoting 'indivisible antennas' for this on that Amazon page?

  • Mine arrived today. It comes with EU and UK clip in plugs. Looks like the Australian equivalent part number is asus-0a200-00080200 but can't see where to get one locally.

    • What about what Matictac linked to at jbhifi above?

I ordered one of these too but it's a while away yet. Look forward to learning more about it as there doesn't seem to be much information available for it. Even the Asus home page doesn't have a full manual!

      • Yeah that wont fit, Its a wall brick design where the plug clips in. Have to use a travel adapter.

        • Thoughts on how the router is?

          • @Sparky: Yeah I look forward to any reviews or tips.

Where to find decent manual for it would be great as well..

That's my bad, I saw it linked in an old deal for this router so I was going off that. Received mine today and definitely does not work.

  • Mine arrived just now

    • Yeah mines gettin here today. Did you have any issues with the setup?

      • only the power adapter. need a travel adapter (or like i had an au version of the asus ac adapter)
havent played too much with it as yet.

  • I set min up in bridge mode, at 192.168.1.2. My modem stayed at 192.168.1.1.

However now I can't access the modem at 192.168.1.1?? I forgot to switch off the old wifi network so need to get into it and can't figure out how to do that. It's not showing up in the Network map or anywhere else.

    Anyone got any ideas?

Follow this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kahed6fbXTg&t=9s to access your modem from router, easiest way is just connect your pc/laptop directly to the modem with ethernet cable. Also my modem has physical button to turn off the wifi, check yours.
