Looks like a good price for one of the newer Asus AX models.

Review: https://www.tweaktown.com/reviews/9569/asus-rt-ax82u-ax5400-…

*Amazon support can't confirm if it comes with AUS power plug or firmware but if it doesn't and your not comfortable with that you can have it returned for free.

Currently $499 at JB Hi Fi & Bing Lee

Interesting note from review:

"More on the chosen hardware, this new AX82U is unique, being the first platform I've had in my hands to use the 6750 SoC from Broadcom. When paired with the BCM43684, both radios in this solution are Wi-Fi 6e capable, making it possible ASUS could push a firmware update later in the year to enable the 6GHz band support."

Anyone able to (politely) say what makes a gaming router a gaming router - as opposed to, you know, a router?

    • Suitable for gaming? As opposed to a devg2020?

  • RGB! Like you have to ask. Knowing asus it will refer to the game mode setting in QoS. Less likely it will be something like qfast or whatever network prioritising

  • I'm looking to upgrade my current router (Netgear D7000) to something with Wifi 6 support with the PS5 coming out at the end of the year. I live in a small-ish town house and usually have ~10 devices connected.

Can anyone give any advice on whether this is a good upgrade?

If you play FPS, run ethernet to your PS4. Don't be one of those annoying people that lag their ass off playing over wifi

        Where do I download ethernet?

        • run a ethernet cable from your ps4 to your router

I'm sorry but it doesn't have enough antenna's for the asking price… :)

    4 - RRP $300
    6 - RRP $400
    8 - RRP $500

In my experience "possible ASUS could push a firmware update" should be given a weight of zero in any decision making process until it has actually happened.

    • Whether it's happen or not is just a bonus.
