DC Pedestal Fan with Wi-Fi $89.99 at ALDI

1480

My algorithm has picked out the one which I think is the standout for the deal title but then there are other good deals that others can post/discuss.

The portable air conditioner with wi-fi for $399 also looks good with summer around the corner.

Full catalogue via link.

PS. Before anyone mentions this is a lazy post, it took about 20 mins to edit the photos. I'll let the deals speak for themselves.

      • I dunno, if Bunnings match the price as usual isn't it better to get another? The usual warranty reasons.
Especially if you happy with the Ozito already (I am!)

  • Thanks OP

  • anyone used one of those battery operated grass trimmers? How well do they work?

    • -2

Battery provides power to the motor, which help to trim the grass?

      • +1

I didn't ask 'How does it work'?

        • +1

My Ozito 2x18V brushless one is a beast, i did an hour of whipper snippering yesterday as my grass hadn't been done in a couple months lol.
          Powers through everything.

DON'T get the 18V one with the little clip on blades tho, trash.

          • @[Deactivated]: yeah have the ozito one with the little red solid blades - works ok for a light trim but hit anything and the blades come off.

          • @[Deactivated]: Hi Mate, Could you link that here, please?

    • +1

I think when there was older battery technology and sometimes lower voltage they weren't up to par but worth a try nowadays if it fits your "tool ecosystem". I have ego 56v one which is probably another class again and works great.. the only downside is it doesn't see much use and the cord feed is a continual PITA as often the case with most trimmers!

  • Any feedback on that $39 tower cooling fan?

  • I hope they've fixed this but I bought the air compressor / tyre inflator thing last year and, when I finally needed it to pump up a tyre, found it didn't work.

Contacting support, I was asked if I was using a 4AH battery [I was] and was then told that was the reason it wasn't working. I needed a 2AH. Which I don't have, having already bought enough of the 4AH to meet my needs.

    Not happy about that.

Anyway, if you get one, test it with a 4AH. If the LCD flashes and it cuts out, they haven't fixed it.

    • Did they say why? That doesn't make a lick of sense!

      • Yeah, I agree it makes no sense and I suggested as much to their help desk.

        Their reply:

"Sorry I know it sounded silly but this is the reason why. I hope this helps.

I had a chat with our technician .Apparently there is a safety switch on the 4Ah batteries and the low drainage power tools are having the 'waking up' problem with the batteries. He advised that the 4Ah batteries are designed for the high powered tools like a drill, saw, line trimmer, tools with instant load.

Meaning that with an air pump, radio or light this safety switch will have to be bypassed through the 'waking up'.

He further advised that replacing the battery may not fix the issue. His recommendations were to purchase a 2Ah or a 1.5Ah battery for these tools."

Ironically, the box that the skin came in had a pic of it with a" ghost" 4ah battery on the packaging.

I haven't taken it further because "life intervened".

What's the actual benefit of having a fan connected to Wifi?

I get it for hot/cold air conditioning where you can heat/cool remotely before you get home, but a fan?

If you're not directly in front of a fan, there's no benefit in turning it on. And if you're in front of a fan, is wifi going to be useful?

    • maybe people want to integrate it with smart routines (maybe not possible), but if it has a remote i don't see the point either.

  • Thank you for the deal and your post. I appreciate it.

Where did you get this ALDI catalogue from that early please? It is not available online or in ALDI stores in Sydney's Southwest where I live. Does ALDI send catalogues to some stores early and late to all other stores? I am just curious about the catalogue because I want to look at some hardware items being sold in that catalogue. Please improve the quality of uploaded photos if you can, I will be very thankful and grateful. Cheers.

    • OP might be a catalog delivery person. When my daughter used to deliver catalogs she would get them 2-3 days before they hit the stores

  • Great deal! Thanks OP

  • Anyone experience on the Lawn mover / trimmmer?
    Does this last long ?

  • Its it fair to assume this fan doesn't come with the physical remote just controllable by phone?

  • . double post

  • My brother has this one and recommends it, integrates with Google/Alexa and quiet.
The Aldi stuff can bit hit or miss, and this isn't much more
    https://www.bunnings.com.au/arlec-grid-connect-smart-40cm-pe…

    • Your brother has the Aldi one or the Bunnings one?

Your link isn't working for me.

      • Sorry, he's got the Arlec Grid Connect Smart 40cm Pedestal Fan from Bunnings.
It sounds like good build quality and quiet, hopefully powerful enough, no one seems to like the blue light that you can't turn off.
A piece of black tape could do that lol. I don't take productreview.com.au too seriously.

        • I can only find this on ebay at $187! Maybe discontinued by Bunnings.

          • @gadgetguy: It's on the Bunnings website will pop in on way home and sus it out

            • @G-rig: Thanks, tried many searches but nothing on the site as far as I can see.

Can't go in store to look in Melbourne right now.

              • @gadgetguy: That's odd just try searching for the description above.
Ps. Not available in all stores but just noticed delivery isn't available for this item

                • @G-rig: I tried every combination of the above, nada. We still have click and collect in Melbourne Bunnings.

                  Product code might help?

                  • @gadgetguy: Try searching for 0201420 in the Bunnings search bar

                    • @G-rig: Nope. I guess we don't have it here.

                      • @gadgetguy: Sorry not sure, perhaps give them a call. Maybe different stock in Qld.

  • +1

I was interested in the floor fan, but J had a quick look. The 45cm 100w floor fan looks like identical models sold at Woolies, target, Kmart etc.
I had a look at Bunnings, and the euromatic 50cm floor fan is 200w at $49. I haven't bought it to test it yet, but I would suggest you either need a 'weaker' fan than the 100w floor fan or go for gold with a 200w fan that will be a small aircraft turbine in your hall. Just my $0.02.

  • I’ve ordered this Xiaomi one from dick smith/Kogan https://www.kogan.com/au/buy/xiaomi-mijia-frequency-conversi… which I like the look of better. Hopefully compatible with google home.

    • It's still unclear if the ALDI one is compatible with Google home too, guess people will know this morning. Still not sure about it, the last one (Stirling made) had a few complaints like couldn't turn off the green LEDs with fan on stand by (too bright at night), and the power cable thin flimsy plug in. Hopefully they've revised these issues so may be fine, a ALDI electronics can be hit and miss.

      • I think this one looks better for only about $10 more and according to email from mi store in oz is compatable - "We will launch Mi Smart Standing Fan 1X very soon to Australia market. This model support Google and Alexa. "

        • So one can assume this is the new model, being the 1X

That looks pretty clean looking, says leaves (AU?) warehouse in 1-2 business days?
Good the buttons on the top and not bright for night time.

Just looked at a this review, could be the old model.. can voice control if you can speak chinese :P

          https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4iSmpz6mhTI

Also not sure the difference between that and the 2S

Missed out on free shipping by 11h (Edit looks like i can still log in, $109)

          • @G-rig: Just received yesterday, took less than a week. Nice modern and clean design looks nicer than the Aldi one and super quiet.

On lowest setting only uses 3 w on lowest and about 17w on highest. Can confirm works with google home to at least turn on and off. Happy so far and would recommend.

            • @Captain Hindsight: Sounds cool, pun intended
I ordered the 1X from Kogan, not shipped yet but agree looks nice and minimalist.
turn on/off is the main thing the app should be alright anyway

        • Just saw Dickless smith has this for $89 plus shipping, says direct import so who knows exactly what model if ther'es an old and new.
          https://www.dicksmith.com.au/da/buy/xiaomi-mijia-frequency-c…
Edit: shipping $15 not much in it then..

Couldn't hurt to test the Aldi one and return it within 2 months if it falls short of expectations.
I do like the simplicity and design of the 1X now though :P

          • @G-rig: Yeah actually I ordered from dick smith. Was funny, Kogan with free shipping was pretty much same as dick smith with shipping.

            • @Captain Hindsight: wonder which is more reliable probably the same.
So does this version have google home compatible u think? not sure why i even want it, maybe for automation/voice commands.

i've been able to claim price protection for the price of the item factoring in the price incl. shipping on 28 degrees, seems so could get for 89$ all up

            • +1

@Captain Hindsight: ps. You order one thing with Kogan and get spammed with 2 emails a day even after unsubscribing, pricks lol
Will put in a 28 Degrees price protection claim anyway and get it for $89 ;)

              • @G-rig: I’ve had 4 today already with dick smith I’ve actually just reported it.

                • @Captain Hindsight: Unreal isn't it. You'd almost be better off walking into HN and paying full price

  • Anyone got one?

    How is it?

    • I got this Aldi DC Pedestal fan yesterday.

It's Tuya. Registers fine and works well in the Tuya app, and it did prompt me to link to Google Home or Alexa (but I didn't bother).

Unfortunately the same cannot be said for home assistant. In HA, I can turn the fan on/off and set the speed, but cannot set fan mode (Normal, Natural, Sleep) or oscillate the fan. :(

Having said that, DC fans are great. Set the fan to sleep mode, speed 2 and got a great night sleep last night :). I just wish I can automate the fan more based on the temp and humidity sensors that's already running on HA.

  • Was wondering the same, and if it works with Google home. Have emailed Kogan to find out as well. I saw someone saying the 2X did on 5ghz network, the 1X has 2.4Ghz, but dual band routers usually work anyway I believe.

Keen to order the 1x from Kogan today perhaps. Is 15w enough? The bunnings fan and 2X have 30w (admittingly the 2X also has battery pack but don't think I need that)

  • Ps the xiami fan should be fine to link with Google home. He has some Mi Home sensors - the fan should come across

    • Breville the AirDynamic 3D Connect Circulator - LPF308GRY

The fan of my dreams lol :)

      • How much :P

Just heard back from Kogan confirming X1 does not work with Alexa/Amazon, may cancel it

        • cheapest i believe is at stancash $237 delivered

jbhifi so far has price matched stancash purchases for me
could be cheaper at jbhifi with price match + giftcards :)

          • @LHSolutions: Just got this one for $228 with current 11% off and 5% gift cards at JB.

  • Lucky got two from Aldi today,
Amazon Alexa & Google Assistant is supported :)

  • Few issues with this fan:
App control is fine but the remote isn't working great, sometime the fan goes into energy saver mode, then I need to press the button twice turn it on/off
I like to set a timer for the fan to stop at midnight, but when it stops it will beep and it's really loud. Can't really use the timer for sleep.

    • Hard to get the perfect devices these days
Aldi does Free returns within 2 months don't they?

      • I think they do, however I lost my receipt, will try use bank statement as proof of purchase

        • Pretty good service, that should suffice.
This xiaomi mijia dc X1 fan meant to be getting delivered today, should be ok with any luck

  • Aldi Kurralta Park in Adelaide had 6 of these still sitting there today?! Now there is only 5 😉

  • This Xiaomi DC X1 is pretty small in size, ~900mm high and my bed is pretty high, don't think it barely clear it.. Stitched up again.. don't think it has a height adjustment. Would be alright for a room with lower bed/small living room or study etc but already got a vornado on the floor. Hmm.

Pretty nifty and nice and easy to assemble.

Edit: probably fine but you had a big dooner on then it would block it off a bit. Just different to the one i had that was quite high and pointing downwards. Google home works voice control to turn on/off and remembers the settings (speed oscillation etc).
