  • I thought the Milestone2 was a better deal on $29 for 12 months, but this is still a good price.

An ok deal I suppose, definitely a burden to have a stingy plan over 2 years, $70 of calls and 100mb of data isn't going to last long and over two years those almost inevitable excess charges are going to hurt, 12 months for $29 was a lot better.

    • better than buying outright.
Burden to some, but the $19 plan exist because of supply and demand. I know my parents use less than $30 a month(prepaid optus) so this is a sweet deal.

      • Yeah but why do they need an outdated phone for $350? Probs not.

  • +9

    Well I found another deal
LG Optimus 3D on the same plan

    • wow..that is a nice price!!! That is almost as cheap/cheaper than Outright on a 24 month plan as well.

    • wow, sounds nice, but how do you get it? Is it in store only?
Also I've checked optus, is this actually $19 (+ $20 handset cost) per month?

    • I wish this was bundle with Xbox at Harvey Norman =D

    • actually i wonder if this is still available…because of the terms & condition:

      "Conditions of $0* upfront
*All Plans: Require 24 month connection. Cancellation fees apply. New and approved customers only. Handset pricing effective until 31.07.2011. No rain checks. While stocks last. For full terms and conditions see optus.com.au/standardagreement. Subject to the Optus Mobile Fair Go™ Policy. Once you exceed your included value, standard rates of your plan applies."

    • Went into store to buy one.
      It's suppose to be $19 + $20handset/m
      they wouldn't honor it.

  • Are the phones locked to Optus? one would assume yes but this page would suggest otherwise.

    • I don't think I've ever heard of a phone being locked if you're getting it on a contract

      • +3

Well in the past I've had to call Three to get an unlock code for several of their post-paid phones

    • I've had a few contract phones with Optus and they've never been locked to Optus.
Always been able to use other network sim cards.

  • what terrible value on the plans, I am on a $29 optus plan which include 100 free text, 250mb data and unused call credit rolls over. not available anymore.

Will probably have to give it up soon though, getting a new phone.

$19 over 24 months? not worth it, much better if u go for $29 over 12 months

  • +2

I believe the 29 dollar cap is a better deal. I have the milestone on the 29 cap for 12 months, i think its a very good deal:)

    • Are these phones available on the $29 X 12 months plans, or just the Milestone 1(almost 2 years old)

      • I think aznsniper is referring to MS2, which was on $29/month for 12 months right before this current 'Clearance'.

I bought the Omnia7 on $29/month for 12 months as well, which is indeed better than this $19/month for 24 months deal. But if someone is just after a phone to play with and/or as a replacement while having a bit of credit/data, this might still be a good deal. Indeed, if you're a light user this is even better.

This is pretty poor considering the Omnia 7 and Milestone 2 were on the $29 cap for 12 months (total $348) last week.

  • +3

$19/Month for $70 credit and 100MB data? LOL. I pay $5/Month for that..

    NO Deal.

    • does your $5/month include a phone or is that just for calls and data? Because the $19/month also includes the phone

      • I think he says the plan is worth $5 (generous!), so you are paying $14x24 for the phone, even if you wanted a plan.
May compare poorly to some of the recent $299 outright bargains.

      • I think what he means is buy phone outright and then pay $5/month. So basically pay $334 for the phone and for $5 get LC $100/100MB or if you had the previous LC pioneer lite then $5 was for $145/200MB
Which sounds fair to me, specially since data is charged in 10Kb blocks(I'm looking at you Dodo)

But the Optimus 3D deal is pretty awesome to say the least

They also have the Garmin Asus A50 for $19 x 12 months.
Its a very dated Android phone, but somebody might want it as a car GPS.

I have to agree with the above comments that the $19 plan is of little value. $29x12 would be much more useful.
Largely because of the risk of penalty fees if you use it.

  • Bugger, my mum was about to get the $29 a month Omnia 7…
