    • whilst i'm not happy about the shopback breach, cashrewards is just as much a potential risk. personally i won't be using either …

      • cashrewards is just as much a potential risk

        1. This deal is not for Cashrewards.
        2. "as much a potential risk" is something of a strawman argument given we don't know the infosec environment/policies of Cashrewards

You got less than three days for three people to spend $20 each
Also, this crappy company leaked our banking details, mobile phone number, full name, email address, and possibly also date of birth

  • +4

I am getting tons of phishing emails after their leak. Yet they are not being transparent about it.

These guys need to make a better statement on what happened in the data breach

A dormant user on Trustpilot recently sprung back to life to defend Shopback with a 5-star review. Reverse image search leads to this chap based in Melbourne.

While looking at his profile, LinkedIn suggests I might also know (Mod: removed Personal Info). Google that name and find a Google Maps 5-star review from (Mod: removed personal info) less than a week ago. Oh dear, [that person is from Shopback]). Needless to say, that Google Maps review has been flagged for conflict of interest.

    • -1

Slow clap for the over-zealous mod who removed information that was absolutely in the public domain (via LinkedIn)

      • Revealing personal information and doxxing people is not appropriate. See Commenting Guidelines: Personal Info:

Furthermore, you've implied a connection between the person you have found on Trustpilot and an employee of Shopback due to a Linkedin suggestion. Linkedin suggestions are due to YOURSELF and not the person you found on Trustpilot. If you open up Linkedin, and look at "People you may know" you will see they are to do with people you have mutual connections or similarities with in real life.

no compensation for data breach, yeah nah

  • Not sure if this breach has been reported or not, but I believe if not it should be reported as part of National Data Breach requirements. https://www.oaic.gov.au/privacy/notifiable-data-breaches/

  • Im moving back to Cashrewards
